Now ... electric (3000w/72v), so, automatic, with excellent torque. I'd never go back to ICE. Top end, not so good, but will do 90 kph if really wanting to, which I have no need to do, around town. 1st TH MB was Honda Sonic 125, clutch, and performance & top end much better than the 2nd TH MB, Honda Wave 125i, the 'semi automatic', clutchless geared type. Easier & more relaxing to drive, but you do give up a lot. Back in USA, Honda 750 & 900, real scooters, not these TH economic around town thingies, and basically, their only purpose. And that's fine. Never needed or wanted anything larger than the 900.

How many species of birds are in your yard.
KhunLA replied to arick's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
That range map is from ThaiNationalPark site, and better than eBird. TNP site usually wants a photo of, on their FB Thai ID site to verify. But nothing really proves that photo was from that area. eBird on the other hand, will map any bird anywhere, without a photo. I suspect many are how you say ... total BS. Anything to jack their sighting #s up. Seems to be a bit of 'one upmanship' going on, at that site. I've read checklists where member states he/she/it saw 40 damn species, a few rare, at 1 location. Of course no photos, even though their profile photo has a spiffy camera hanging on their neck. Sorry, no photo, it didn't happen. If it's not close enough to take a photo, with a mediocre camera, even if blurred, how the hell can you tell what species it is. -
Dual pricing & animal abuse ... NO THANKS.

Awaiting his much touted 'game changing' Tesla 2 when it shows up. That will tell if he's concerned about the competition, or simply producing something similar but less expensive.

Household Power Tariff Frozen from Jan to April

Definitely going to affect you, and the cost of living. Not your electric bill, but every other non household bill that will be passing their higher cost on to you, the end consumer. -
How many species of birds are in your yard.
KhunLA replied to arick's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
Yard is way too small, 1/4 rai, w/ 1/4 across soi as garden. But within 200 meter radius, easily 10 I've photographed, so probably twice as many I've missed. I go to a small park to walk the dog, and about the same size, if not smaller area(200 meter radius), and have photographed at least 20+ there. Birds of prey overhead, to some of the smallest in the park. Recorded, photographed, 166 species in TH, probably more since I ignore & don't research the slight variations within the species, so probably closer to 180. That of the approximately 450 ish birds that get photographed in Thailand, and just part of the 1000+ that live in or visit TH seasonally. Even lucky enough to snap a few shots of rare Lesser Frigatebird locally, heading out to a small isle. -
"I needed Avelox (a common antibiotic). Surprisingly, it's not available in Surin. So I tried online:" Not so common or prescribed for good reason. Other alternatives usually prescribed. If they fail, then Avelox might be prescribed. Take care with that one.

CM city, I was never a fan. First visit, probably 2004 ish, and thought to myself, it's a mini Bangkok, which at the time, I wasn't a fan of either. Repeat visits to CM didn't help, where visits to Krung Thep, and I started appreciating and quite like the Big Mango. Never warmed up to CM city. Outside the city/CM is lovely, half the year, rainy season, and had our best visit to the province during the 'situation' in 2020. Still avoided the city though, as nothing interests me when busy, couldn't imagine it with most things closed.

As it states, go to the dealer and have them set it up for you. Should work fine afterwards. Dealer set ours up, for both the ICE (which we really didn't use) and the EV, which we do use, a wee bit. Nice that it sends msgs to wife's phone, as I left the windows cracked a bit, and it started rainy ... ???? Along with low pressure in tires, since temps dropped quite a bit. All equal though, so I'll top them up when I get off my lazy A$$. Really doesn't have much info that the car doesn't tell you, and why I don't use at all. Wife is in charge of fast charging, 'charging' the car, so she uses when out & about. I can control 'start & stop' once started from inside without the app. I keep it topped up to 80ish % at home. One member is a fan of turning on the AC, to cool down the car before using ????

Critics split over AVATAR sequel - The Way of Water
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
When the 1st ones are so good, sequels are tough to match, or meet expectations. Few have succeeded in doing so. Terminator & Aliens are 2 that did. First sequels anyway. I'll wait for the torrent, especially since it's 3 hrs long, someone posted. Must see for the wife, keeps asking when. -
Aside from the screening, adding foam weather stripping, fills in all the nooks and crannys. Which does need to be maintained and replaced yearly, from past experience. Rolls of are cheap enough though.

Best bedroom air filter ….considering cost of replacement filters and noise…
KhunLA replied to mikey88's topic in Chiang Mai
Agree, and any restriction, add HEPA sheets, which I've done, and or not cleaning those or the ones with the AC, will restrict air flow, put a strain on the compressor & fan ... along with increasing your electric bill because of it. Been there done that. Just get a decent air purifier, I can definitely, posted, recommend ours, Xiaomi brand, from Xiaomi 'flagship' store on LAZ: https://www.lazada.co.th/shop/xiaomi/?spm=a2o4m.common-error.search.1.48af38b2BB11jI&_keyori=ss&from=suggest_sis&sis_suggestion_click=Xiaomi Flagship Store%2Cxiaomi&sugg=xiaomi_0_1 Really does work well. Had to stir up some dust as -0- just doesn't look believable ???? Outside is a wee bit better than earlier: -
British woman breaks nearly every bone in face in Thailand
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Yep ... driver (bf), inexperience, and knowing when to use or not use, the front brake. Too fast for conditions on an unfamiliar road, at a guess. Or worse, an emergency, and either wipe out or more serious crash. Not a whole lot of details. Hope she get the medical attention needed, no matter who pays. Main facial bones if any curious. Pretty much nasal, cheeks & jaw: -

Best bedroom air filter ….considering cost of replacement filters and noise…
KhunLA replied to mikey88's topic in Chiang Mai
Xiaomi fan myself. Bought 2 replacement filter when I bought purifiers, few years now, and haven't needed to use them. Live below Hua Hin, so air isn't nearly as bad. Just turned them on this week. As AQI getting near 100, and PM2.5 way too high. Keeps things in single digit territory. -
Other words, it's the same as alcohol now, and people now have 2 options for a buzz ... if wanting. I'm not a bar person, or indulge in P4P, but tourist ghettos have them everywhere. When I am in the ghettos, I just take it in stride. No use complaining, just break out my mental blinders ... and "keep on truckin" Xanax may help you, since not a suds or smoke fan. There's a stimulant for everyone, if GOD is not your co-pilot ... ????

Passport about to expire
KhunLA replied to sanook 1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not necessarily, depending on what Imm office you use. They changed that from free, to each Imm office's discretion quite some time ago. Hua Hin for instance does charge 500 baht. Udon Thani, quite some time ago, was free, if you refused to pay, as at that time IT WAS free, official policy via BKK. IO did ask for 1000 baht, which I refused to pay, then 500, then 100, then I told her to keep it, and I'll pick it up when the boss is in. Which time the boss tried to get the wife to explain to me the "Thai" way, which she explained to him, "when you steal money from him, you steal money from me" Got to love her ... ???? If they charge, you should get an official receipt for that charge. -
If just for while you're in TH, I personally wouldn't bother. I enquired for going to Laos, (Vientiane) after reading up on it/JE, and Thai docs told me not to bother, unless going further afoot, or spend a lot of time along the border of TH, which I don't. https://www.thaizer.com/do-i-need-a-travel-vaccination-for-japanese-encephalitis/#:~:text=Japanese encephalitis (JE) does occur, for a visit to Thailand. If getting for TH, you're a bit late, as should have prior to arrival: " A person who has never received vaccination and plans to enter an endemic area should be completely vaccinated at least two weeks before arrival." https://www.thaitravelclinic.com/Knowledge/japanese-encephalitis.html

Saw a couple vids from respected YT'ers pointing out a few things that surprised me. They aren't cheap, so I'd definitely expect a little more attention to the fit & finish. Making our MG ZS even more of a quality bargain at almost half price. SAIC rocks ????
