If you're not into fireworks, as only interesting part of NYE/NY for me. Seen them more than a few times at riverside Krung Thep, and quite impressive shows. Especially with ICONSIAM now. Wouldn't mind seeing again, but hotels are getting a little silly priced, and if not staying close, then a little too much effort for me, just to see fireworks.

I would give Boots a pass, if there, would be higher priced than other places. Got to make up for that high rent overhead. Only used Boots when I was an ignorant ding dong farang, as simply convenient. I was experimenting with tramadol, while treating pain from shingles, along with every other drug out there ???? Read the warnings and thought it might be strong enough, but wasn't very impressed. Don't know how anyone could get addicted to it, unless eating a whole sh!tload for long time. Our sea wall looks a lot better than say, Cha Am, where it's nothing but chairs & umbrellas. Although nobody would be sitting on our beach, Ao Prachuap anyway, as too many storm/sewer drains. Even if sitting on/near the wall, need to position yourself away & upwind from the drains, or one would easily lose your appetite. Days past, before the wall, and prior to the small amount of 'major' development, obviously the vendors were illegally pass the high tide mark, and got seasonally flooded. Easier & cheaper to spend tax money for a wall, than enforce building code, if there were any back then. My first trip here, the wall was either getting build for first time, or getting a major upgrade. And no wall on the N shore of the bay. The Wat on top of the hill where I took photos from wasn't even open, let alone developed as a tourist attraction. I had to climb over a locked fence to enter the vacant grounds. Along with few monkeys noticed vs now easily a 1000+ in the area.

It depends what aspect of the pharmacy is illegal. The pharmacy itself might not be illegal, but certain drugs that they sell may not be allowed without a prescription. Or if a pharmacist is not on duty to advise, which I've yet to have any pharmacist advised me on anything that I purchased. I just walk in, I asked for it and they gave it to me. Years ago I walked into something like a Boots or Watson and wanted something I knew was behind the counter but the cashier was not allowed to sell it to me, because the pharmacist was not on duty.

The one pictured in news-blip is at Prachuap, and it is very necessary. Since the bay is nothing more than a sewer the wall is quite practical. It's also nothing new and been there 20 years.

I can't think of 1 advantage, except if you can't afford a retirement visa or younger than 50. Which case, rent rent rent. Easy to keep everything separate. If you have that much equity/assets that you're worried about, just get the elite visa, if not old enough for retirement visa.

If not the best thing all year. Quite entertaining & enjoyed it. Sad I'm enjoying TV series, with B list, or unknowns, rather than big budgets and A lister's movies. None of the big box office hits, highly rated, 100s k $$$ budgets have done anything for me, except kill some time, and sadly more than a few were wasted time. Wouldn't recommend or watch any again. Sad for being action movies, which I used to watch more than once or 5 times. Watched Glass Onion last night, and actually dosed off occasionally. The Recruit was quite good, as is The Rookie, which I started watching this year, past month or so, from S01. Both entertaining, not too serious, a nice mix. Slow Horses, very good, and got Jack Ryan downloaded and looking forward to that. The Cleaning Lady has kept my attention. The rest I watch are basically time killers.

yes & no ... yes, because absolutely nothing on there that is a security issue, with exception of BBL, which gets my USA Soc Sec DD. It goes in one day, and out the next. That app simply to see if arrived, and current balance, usually <5k baht. no ... as don't know a Thai site yet that hasn't be hacked, or any site for that matter. Except for BBL, there isn't much on my phone. I use it for camera, GPS and that's about it. Only phone calls I get are delivery folks letting me know that are on the way. Don't think I myself make 5 phone calls a month.

Again, 1 size doesn't fit all. Return to hospital after my 'procedure', and sent to therapist. She wanted to check my BP under stress, just after exercise, suggest a treadmill for 6 minute and walk as fast as I'm comfortable doing. I pointed out, I don't do impact aerobics (herniated discs) and asked about a stationary bike, which they did have and agreed on. Finally set up so I could actually fit on it (damn short legged people), and away I go. Holy Krap, 1st gear-ish on a 21 gear bike. So I adjusted the tension, and pedaled away. She & assistant are like 'whoa, where you going, too much, don't try to impress us' ... I'm like ... really, I do 30-50kms a day when cycling, and this is normal speed for me. Wife is laughing ... you people have no idea what this old guy can do on a bike. Assistant (male) hopped on after I was done, and he couldn't spin the pedal, tension, as was too much for him ... ???? Needless to say, I didn't return to her therapy for a follow up, as she stated, most don't. When crappy weather and I feel like using the stationary at the house when bored, I do that for 20 minutes. Work up a good sweat. My back keeps me from impact aerobics, where others may have issues with their ankles or knees. Or if just starting out, still carrying too much weight to stress out their joints ... so '1 size does not fit all'.

Large percentage of crew missing isn't a good sign. Thais aren't known to be great swimmers, but vest should keep you afloat long enough to get to a raft, if you need to just jump into the sea as last resort. It is the Navy, and training should be geared toward 'expect the worst' scenarios. Hoping for some miracles for those still missing.

Same here, as seems no matter what you state, unless agreeing completely with BS & his expert, you're wrong. Went a step further and simply ignored, as the few he hasn't chased off may have something interesting to add. I know my body, which he/she/it apparently knows better, and I know what works for me. That's pretty much all that matters. Making some adjustments with age & lifestyle. Someone asked for advice, we gave it, and don't need the sermon from self proclaimed expert after every reply. I bought bell peppers (green) last night at Makro @ 105 baht/kg. I wouldn't drive around town for 5 baht. And I thought that was higher than usual. Many things I do buy at local market, when there, Especially fresh herbs, but certainly wouldn't make a special trip unless knowing something is considerably cheaper, and maybe not even then, especially if I was driving an ICE vehicle. Shop at both, fresh market & Makro about once week. Makro usually after, then get what the fresh market didn't have, plus refrigerated/frozen items, mainly dairy & meats. Makro being more convenient, closer, less traffic & better parking. Never bother with Lotus and thankfully don't even have a Big C, which I avoided when one was available, even worse than Lotus. Terrible stores.

Never could do the 'working out' thingy. Use to laugh when people asked me "where I 'worked out'." If friends heard them ask, they'd bust up laughing, knowing I'm a LPOS. Answer was "at work" ... ???? Use to work at a steel mill / foundry, so was basically lifting weights for 8 hr a day, 5 days a week. As I stated, those wt/ht charts are non-applicable to me. Want to bulk up, get a job where you are listing 100-150 lbs more than a few times every minute.
