  1. No understatement there. Title from my favorite news source, RTNews, but just Google the title, and you get plenty of the same reports. Also stated 'hand in there', which is the sad part, as he actually thinks people care, or see the long game. They don't, and don't care. Why it will all fail miserably, very fast. Even worse, nothing will have time change for the good, and people don't want to sacrifice at all, short or long term, for the benefit of future. TBH, I'm the same ... but ... I never had to depend on the system to take care of me. Why it will fail, and if no immediate improvement, come midterms, as Senator Cruz suggests, Reps will face a 'bloodbath' at the polls ... and the deep state will be back in control. All good for me of course, as not there, and whatever is bad for the USA, is usually good for expats. I await inflation and a good COLA. Any luck, and the exchange rate will hold steady for this year, and not drop too much, the next couple years. If so, hopefully offset by inflation, and COLA. He stated the same while campaigning, and first week in office, but people aren't going to 'buy USA', and manufacturing won't come back quick enough. Good plan in theory, but people haven't go the intelligence, or care about the future. Everyone lives in the now, and want 'free sh!t' Oh well, such is life.
  2. No loss there, what a POS auto maker. Brother, a motorhead, had a Jag in days past, and said it was worst car he ever owned. Seems they haven't improved much ...
  3. Nike could lower the wholesale price the full amount of tariff, and still make huge profit.
  4. Not sure if I've ever had a flue shot, probably have. But know I haven't had on in over 50 years, and don't recall having the flu, or nothing more than a day or so. Note not having flu shot, since 1988, were free at work, and never got one, along with never having the flu while at work or till now. Can't recall missing work, because I ever was sick, ever. Also while flu shots were free at work, yearly discussion about, and those getting, always seem to get the flu. Of course they countered with the usual ... ... "it wasn't that bad, since had flu shot" ... ... and me "didn't get it, because I didn't get the flu shot" All friendly discussions, among friends, unlike on AN 🙄 I'm really anti vax now, the more I know about them, even for babies. Seriously, a bunch of Hep B vaxs at birth ... WTF
  5. Yep, really does help if one can actually use what is available.
  6. Bush 2 first term was very good for me (40-45-40), great since built first house and bought 1st & 2nd car during his administrations. Along with 24.3% COLA, (8 yr total) Then Biden as best, exchange rate & COLA @ 20.3% (4 yr total) Worst starts to finish ... Obama 1, but did recover, then Trump 1, mirror Obama 1, and just a tad better, if that.
  7. Let's bring you up to date ... 21st Century Some life changing ... https://247wallst.com/special-report/2019/02/07/21-most-important-american-inventions-of-the-21st-century/
  8. hmm ... pot or the kettle
  9. Can it get any more exciting than this ...
  10. Yep, as they all said the same thing about the need for immigration control while campaigning, but only Pres. Trump followed through and did something about it.
  11. The dumbest thing you will ever see ... ... the endless anti Trump threads
  12. Not much choice with cars, as no local manufacturing of. Aussie and US beef is some of the best. Also never needed a firearm in USA.
  13. Except for food, nothing comes to mind, that I bought, made in USA. I like Eddie Bauer clothes, but doubt if made in USA. Last car was a Ford, made by Mazda, with Ford badge. Nissan Maxima before that. Honda MCs. My scuba gear was made in USA, and a few firearms.
  14. At least use S&P 500, as the Dow Jones isn't a marker for anything. Neither is S&P ... IMHO So the elite are concerned people won't continue to be force to work low paying jobs, to the elites benefit. ... GOT IT Why cherry pick the last 5 yrs .... They're called corrections, and the market is way overdue. Or maybe just a repeat of Pres. Trump 1st administration, When it went up about 50% Biden had a high of about 44k, about 50% also, though didn't help the little folks with high inflation, silly housing prices & RE Taxes now. Like I stated, the market means nothing to the regular folks. During Pres Trump 1, S&P up over 65%. If using the markets as a gauge for his economic policies ... well, nuff said.
  15. I don't tip ... ... wife does, as she pays the tab, and only if service warrants it. Small amount, or 20% is excellent and in a good mood. Depends on a few factor, but usually, no or small change. I service charge included, than no. Also includes hotel staff, as never request anything extra, and clean the room before we check out. Half the time get an extra pet charge anyway, do definitely no tip.
  16. Would think driver's insurance would handle that, since in crosswalk.
  17. Saw a lot of 'Jazz' players here, and stretch of that genre. Attended the first 10 (?) Jazz Festivals @ Hua Hin, and were excellent. All changed after a big sponsoring changed and scaled way back.
  18. Saw them a couple times, once at TawanDaeng, Udon Thani. Imprompt show, free, way too cool. Rocked the house 😎 Aed's (?) daughter went to school with my daughter at Udon Thani.
  19. Talking to bud of mine last week, Corpus Christi, TX area, and finally got done rehabbing a property, and not a large house. Reassessed the area, and got his new tax bill, 100% up, from $3500 to $7000 now ... WTF I thought $3900 for one of mine (suburbia Philly), 25+ years ago was high. He's selling, and if stays in USA, thinking about FL now. Paying $583 a month, to live in a house you already own is nuts. I live on less a month here Thailand, RE Tax ฿5 or ฿10 a year Living the Dream
  20. EC being one of my favorites, and who's concerts I've attended the most, 10 times maybe, since his first solo tour. Seen everyone I've wanted to, except Hendrix, dying a wee bit too soon 😢
  21. They're are great talents ... I can't even keep a tune in the shower, let alone play an instrument.
  22. From history, past experience, past administrations, whether they had anything to do with it on not, I'm not surprised about any 10-20% fluctuation of the exchange rate during any administration or 5-10 year period of time. Although the past 15 years, with few exceptions, the USD/TH exchange rate has been 30-35 to $1 USD. I got here in 2000, and once the THB settled (40 to 45 to 30), during my time here, after the crash, it's been in the 30-35 range mostly, occasional dipping below 30, and nice when above 35.
  23. Anyone basing their purchase buying based on Trump, (unless something he sells), really should seek some professional help. I can't be healthy.
  24. Women should simply refuse to compete against men. Once the sport loses enough income and sponsors, then it will return to a 'women's sporting event'. Not a "Uni sex event". Kudos to the gal for standing up for what is 'right'. Sucks all those years of practice & competing fairly wasted now.
