  1. I know from experience, (not sure irrelevant) as I had approval from both parents, and told not to bother. This from the person, at social services, who had power to approve it. YMMV
  2. Simply that, being an adult, not needing parental consent for anything. As a minor/dependent, their parents are responsible, whether they 'are or not', but legally have control of their children. Just wait, less than 2 yrs will go by quickly, then it really is too easy. Beware of lawyers who say they can do ... they can't.
  3. Not Patts ... but topical. Yet to find a better place to shop than Makro for most things. Like Gourmet Markets also, except their silly meat prices. No matter what province I've been to, they've consistently beat Lotus's, Big C, FoodLand, VillaMarket, to the point, I don't even peek in them anymore. Exception to western offering outside of Krung Thep & tourist/expat ghettos ???? Most of which, I don't need anyway. Our Makro carries just a bit, but not even close to what Makro/Hua Hin or Gourmet Market/Hua Hin carries. Aside from Makro, we'll get some veggies & fresh herbs/spices from local fresh market.
  4. Easier if you wait till he's 20. I tried to do the same (Udon Thani/family services), and told almost impossible. Daughter just last week, with us, put the paperwork in, and done same day, at Amphur Office. Took all of 1 hour, with wait time, and cost <100 baht, I think. She's 23, so her MIA parents weren't needed. We filed a couple wills while there also, as she's starting to acquire some assets, and wants nothing by default to go to her birth family. So if I bump her off, I not only get a new townhouse, free & clear, in Rangsit, I get 1 million baht in insurance pay out. Told her she shouldn't tell me things like that. Bumps us off, and she gets a vacation home at PKK & new EV ... bi-atch.... ... we'll be looking over our shoulders now for those full face scooter riders coming up from behind.
  5. Picked that up today also, along with pulse check/7162 second notice, along with 3 IRS letters; 1. one stating they can't do the FBAR in that office, from 2019 2. one stating they need more time to do 1040, which I told them the 2 previous times, they didn't need to do, as I'm not required to file. Got to be the 5th letter stating the same that I've received, 'need another 60 days'. 3. 1040 investigation results ????, and I don't owe any balance on any accounts, this was for tax year ending 2020 ???? The is one inefficient waste of gov't taxes office. So I made 5 copies of 7162, and will mail back, 1 a week, maybe 1 will actually be received. First time in 20+ yrs they haven't received. From the postings, seems to be a current ongoing thing.
  6. Life's choices ... with any luck, "we'll" just drop dead in our sleep. Maybe another stent or 2 ???? But open heart / bypass ... I'll pass at my age, as just a matter of time before something else kraps out. NHS ... lovely system ???? Medicare is USAs version, for retired & poor people, open to all (retired/poor) and almost free, and have to take you, without expectation of being reimbursed at public hospitals. The drug plan sucks though, and overpriced. IF I can make to the states, then I'm saved ... IF ... and IF actually wanting. As my niece has privileges at a few Philly, PA, USA hospitals. I would need a long healthy prognosis to even bother, if not ... I'll pass. I'd rather watch the sunset here with my dog, kid & wife.
  7. Sheryl usually prices private hospitals. Be kind of hard to spend 5 mill at a gov't hospital. But if you're at that much of a risk, then maybe you should adjust your living location where healthcare won't effect your loved ones. I got few baht, but at my age (if emergency), I'm not wasting their inheritance on a couple mediocre years more of hanging around. Take me home let me die in peace. Non emergency, and I'm on the next plane out to be a burden on Medicare, use them tax dollars I paid 30 some yrs into.
  8. NO, just a responsible adult, who follows most rules and more importantly, simple common sense.
  9. NO ... he was irresponsible and selfish, knowing he didn't have the funds for TB treatment. Should have been on the first available flight to USA when diagnosis, while still having the airfare. Now family & friends are suffering and burdened, when he could be sitting in a hospital at no cost to them actually getting treatment. Probably avoiding the progression of the TB that required ICU and ventilator. His previous tax dollars at work. Immigration need to step up their game and require expats & tourist to have insurance or funds of at least 1 million baht. I myself don't do health insurance, but have a nice oops fund that doesn't get touched, for any reason, except medical emergency. Guessing he uses an agent for visa ... and why I'm against them unless just for convenience. He has no money & no assets, so he certainly isn't bringing in 40k a month.
  10. Nice, though they're not that rare, especially down south ...
  11. Age ? TB ... on a ventilator. Guessing borrowed time. Possibly very short or a tad longer. IF me, send me home with bottle of oxygen, let me pass in piece, without causing additional burden to anyone.
  12. Hour to kill ... get some Bon Cafe ground coffee, use a cheap cone drip filter, warm up your milk/cream, cheap frother, and heat up a Makro butter croissant in the toaster over, wrapped in foil.
  13. just read a news-blip ... UK'ers want another vote ... to rejoin the EU ???? https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-poll-referendum-rejoin-eu-b2250813.html
  14. I'm guessing he's an overstay, possibly for a couple years. @jimmiejackson Another expat makes the rest of us look bad. Cut your losses, if his or his wife's family are helping. Tells you everything you need to know. At his age, guessing their house is free & clear. Put it on the market, cheap. If cheap enough, and located good, I may even buy it. Car should have been sold by now. If you can't rustle up only 1 mill, you shouldn't be in the country. The day he got diagnosed with TB, he should have been on a plane to the USA, and used his Medicare. Plan A is available & free, almost. At least in the USA, they can't kick him out of the hospital, if life threatening.
  15. How long do EV batteries last you ask ? "According to current industry expectations, EV batteries are projected to last between 100,000 and 200,000 miles, or about 15 to 20 years." https://blog.evbox.com/ev-battery-longevity "Tesla battery’s expected life vs. warranty coverage On Twitter, Elon Musk explained that Tesla car batteries should last for 300,000 to 500,000 miles or 1,500 battery charge cycles. That’s between 22 and 37 years for the average car driver, who, according to the Department of Transportation (DOT), drives 13,476 miles per year. One Tesla owner has reportedly driven his Tesla Model S over a million miles, according to CleanTechnica. Though that Tesla battery has lasted, the owner reports having replaced his Tesla motor several times." https://news.energysage.com/how-long-do-tesla-car-batteries-last/
  16. Why our ZS is silver. Other 2 options were Black or White for that model. Really liked our Red ICE version's color. Next model up that's available with Blue s, but also comes with sunroof & more electronics, both we didn't want. Warmed up to though and now like it. Wife is still crying ????????
  17. Midnight ish Wake up 5-6 hrs after I fall asleep, 90% of the time, wake before sunrise.
  18. RU is petrified ... I'm surprised RU hasn't surrendered yet & Putin hasn't resigned, allowing UA to annex all of RU for their own. You know, 'Victor's Spoils' and all ???? Do you think any of the western puppeteers want this conflict to end ? They are literally making Billions $$$ with blaming everything on the RU/UA conflict. As if it couldn't be ended tomorrow.
  19. Found the FB part ... replacement plugs https://www.facebook.com/groups/2572340166118367/permalink/5984359794916370 Issue about moisture getting in: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2572340166118367/posts/5968612509824432/ Remember seeing one news-blip or FB, with photos of moisture corrosion on the cables leading into, and even showed some corrosion on a few cables connecting the cells (series of parallel conx) in the pack itself. Something to be aware of, and have deep inspection before warranty expires.
  20. I think if I was in the selfie crowd, definite pick up the 'Insta360' camera' If I didn't have so many cameras already, I'd have picked one up already, just for the versatility it offers. Way too cool ...
  21. Emphasis on 'ignorant' on my part rather than wise or not to wait. My pockets not as deep as some, and thought 700k for 4 wheeled ICE was silly, let alone 1.2m at the time. If no incentive, don't think I would have picked up the EV version. I'm not going to be around long enough (thinking at the time) to enjoy ROI. Wife & daughter will though. Thoughts in 2020 ... expecting updates and hopefully govt incentives in the future, though didn't expect simply 1.5 yrs later, or I wouldn't have bought the ICE version, as the Mazda2 would have sufficed for a short time longer. The moisture issue, one pointed out in one of the EV hit threads, I think, and acknowledged by MG, thus the very nice upgrade in IP rating for the battery pack in 2022 model. Might take a while for me to find, but they sell replacement plugs, that keep the water out better, which I saw on one of the FB groups. Searching ....
  22. I'm glad I was ignorant and got the ZS ICE in 2020, instead of the EV version. As they upgraded the battery size, along with IP69 vs 67, fixing a moisture issue. Took a hit on depreciation of the ICE, being just 2 yrs old, but govt incentive and expected long term dependability, with a bit more range is worth it, I think. Saying that ... don't wait too long, if considering, try to buy before incentives expire next year.
  23. Selfie stick ... PLEASE On Topic ... as long as it supports, holds you phone/camera, any cheap selfie stick will do. Best to have a good EIS'd camera when using.
