  1. But they can ignore it, as that was 1979, and don't think they had e-bikes, e-scooter (stand on type), e-bicycles in mind when written. E-motorcycles & scooter, yea, quite applicable, and need reg/tags/DL/ins. Seriously, anyone thinking of the former 3, need to pop in local PoPo & ask there policy, if they even have or care. Me, locally, they don't seem to care, as yet to see one getting cited, or hear of.
  2. Nothing wrong with being proud of one's roots. I used to be 'appreciative' of being born in the 'land of opportunity', which it was and still is ... IF ... YOU take advantage of it. Appreciate being born there, than any alternative. Constitution is a lovely document to guide the Republic. Too bad the politicians, 99.9% are scum. Shame and embarrassing the military is simply a corporate security force, and a mind F for those that volunteered without realizing that before hand. Sadly, nothing nice to say about the USA now, since I left (2000), right before they started invading sovereign countries for NO reason. Downhill ever since. And no sign of getting better in the future. Depressing if one dwells on it. All smiles here. Thailand, close to China for online shopping, what's not to like ????
  3. With that, I think I should be counting my blessing I was born on the other side of the pond. Might explain why my great greats left way back in the 1600s ???? And I thank them for that.
  4. This is what I've received IDD, since going that route. Comes in first few days of the month.
  5. I'll spend 50k a year on petrol, at todays rate, and that E85. MG EP (8yr battery warranty) would cast 300k have more than what I have now. So 6 yrs, IF no price increase. Along with virtually no maintenance, which is at least 5k a year for just oil & filter changes (5 every 2yrs/50k kms), not counting tune-ups, belts, timing belt replacements. Powered by solar, as the house will be, with ROI probably at the 5 yr mark. Win win for me & solar, over PEA & ICE. No reason for most folks not to do something similar. If not for the environment, then for your wallet. Actually bought an E-scooter for my everyday, 2X out with the dog routine, park AM, surf PM. So the SUV will sit idle until heavy shopping or out & abouts now.
  6. Reading the news is enough to remind me I'm not going back there. I'd apparently offend everyone with the most innocent conversation. Woke & PC brigade are nuts, along with all the race baiting BS. Throw in prices, RE taxes and force medical insurance premiums that cover absolutely nothing, and the co-payments when it does is more than healthcare here .... NO THANKS.
  7. Nice income, so rent, until IRA is available without the tax hit, though if knowing RE, and buying in good, the appreciation may offset the tax hit, and you have what you want. Depending on your situation / relationship wise, rent is always good also, as a safety feature, and can use the tax bite as an excuse to rent, as you test the waters.
  8. I just checked my account today and got 32.95. Direct deposited probably today AM or yesterday.
  9. I don't know about that, and we were poor. From 18 yrs old (1973), after 1st real job, I always had a car or 4 + scooters. And I was a late bloomer in the car thingy, as all my friends had cars before me. 1st was VW van, hippie mobile, but I don't reminisce about that or vW, and would never own a VW again. 2nd was 1950 Buick Special. Now that was sweet. Damn seats were like sitting in a sofa in your living room. Again, wouldn't own a Buick today either. 3rd was another Buick Sport wagon, but 20ish years newer. Station wagon with rear fold out seat, and wrapped in glass around the top rear of 'wagon' part. And same, not again. All kind of classics in their own rite, and wish I still owned them today. I was practical even as a kid, as did a lot camping and 'sleeping in' the car. Really never a car to impress. As far as the performance thing goes, 1 brother was into the 55 / 56 hot rod, bored out, muscle cars. As was another friend, had a soup'd up Javelin ???? They were silly powerful & fast. Again, me, practical, as only bought 1 new vehicle in 27 yrs, in USA, and that was a Nissan truck, as needing a dependable work truck. I think I owned every US make out there, and stuck with Jap brands after the Nissan, never a Yank made car again. Strangely here, I'm on my 4th new vehicle in 18 yrs. 2 Vios, Mazda2, MG ????
  10. Nah, that's OK, don't care as the past is totally irrelevant to the new Chinese MG. Surely it will surpassed all sales of the prior companies that failed to continue producing. Accept it & move on ...
  11. Yea, and while they held MG rights, didn't even produce anything new, with except of the MGB (V8), which tells me, they weren't very marketable, and shelved, as no demand for them. Actually amazing the MG badge survived at all. You need to keep up, or go belly up. Wiki - "Seventies no new MG models were introduced apart from the limited-production V8 version of the MGB. While the MG operations was profitable these profits were entirely offset by the huge losses accrued by the rest of the Austin-Morris division and any funding to the Division within BL was allocated to urgently required mass market models, leaving MG with limited resources to develop and maintain its existing model range, which became increasingly outdated."
  12. I'd be surprised if any Thai knows the 'heritage'. I don't even know it, or care. Only an idiot would think the car has anything to do with UK, past history. IMHO, that's a good thing for sales, as they mass produced c r a p. Y'all still forgetting, they went belly up for a reason. Ford & Chevy have a great race history, but I wouldn't buy any of their c r a p either. OK, maybe an F150 if I was in the stated, but the MG truck here, not a ford.
  13. Well that's a better picture (financially) than what was going thru my head. Good Luck to you.
  14. Same here, and way ahead on that curve. I can't spend as much on an oops here that med ins would have cost over the decades. And always the likely chance they simply cancel the policy if too expensive or terminal diagnosis. Do need to have an oops fund though. Stated a few times, as one of the reasons I'm here, inexpensive / available healthcare, and no RE Taxes.
  15. You moved intern'l without an income or pension, just a 'not enough' savings account. ???? OK, got it
  16. Well that won't impress the chickies. Where are they going to sit when you take 'em to the soda fountain at Woolworths. American driver ... that's embarrassing
  17. No, but apparently a bit more than some and after living here for 20 years, I know how much it costs just to live here vs living comfy. 20k a month is more than enough to live here, and if costing 40k, then you should be comfy somewhere. When and where is 40k a month a lot of money. And no, every Thai town, Imm office is not the same. If you couldn't afford to live in Thailand, where you at now ?
  18. You could actually consult the manual for recommended amount. 200 baht is cheap enough, and 250 for filter is also cheap enough. Just ask how much is oil next time you fuel up. 4L sound a little shy for a 2.2, but TBH, I haven't a clue, as haven't done on oil change in 20 years. After the change, after driving a km or 2 stop &, just check the level and top up next time you get fuel if needed. This sounds better 8L :
  19. So you weren't on a long term visa, as you can live in any province on 40k a month, even 20k is easy. Not rich, just comfy, a well planned retirement.
  20. Think I'd find another province to live in. Especially since the air in the north isn't the most healthiest 4-6 months a year.
  21. All I see is PoPo walking a beat. Much better than never seeing them walk a beat. You reading a wee bit too much into the news-blip.
  22. I don't know anyone living in a small dump. Imm has with one exception & resolved, been uncorrupt & efficient with me. No new restrictions (imm), in over 20 yrs here. Have a pleasant day
