  1. Tax free threshold is 18K6 AUD last time I checked. 10% of that is 1.8K AUD and change. Is you annual budget so tight that you can not survive on 1,860 dollars less?
  2. @Neeranam this should accelerate the flow of funds into crytpo nicely.
  3. Bankrupt. Same as the Junta in Myamar. And now employing the same cash grab tactics by taxing incoming payments from abroad.
  4. Are you trapped with your capital invested in the Australian residential property ponzi. Income on interest is only taxed at 10% for non tax resident Australians. There is no tax on fully franked dividends.
  5. How the <deleted> do they expect to get clarity of purpose from a government that is comprised of a coalition of FOURTEEN parties. This place has always been a circus. But now the results of this corruption and ineptitude are becoming a show stopper for expats. Start working on your bug out strategy right now.
  6. I posted just last week that I have been selling my stuff here for the last 12 months and anyone that does not have a bug out strategy already in place will be caught off guard. As usual my post was riduculed.
  7. I quit eating all simple carb about a month ago. No sugar, rice, bread, etc. Never felt more healthy and have dropped 5 kg. Unfortunately I still have an incurale genetic blood disease, a prostate the size of a grapefruit, a a Morton's neuroma in both my feet.
  8. Retired from what? I am more busy now that I ever was including when I ran my international consultancy. I am in the last stages of building a dive compressor for my speed boat. High season awaits with back to back fishing and spearfishing.
  9. So...what are the tourist friendly policies....a reduction in tea money?
  10. Hilarious. I have been banging on about Thailand's and China's inverted population pyramids for well over a year now. I have been ridculed endlessly. Now there is some tin pot article about the issue and everyone is a self confessed expert. Jeesuz wept this forum has gone to the dogs.
  11. This thread is a good example of how depressing the content on this forum has become. The posts by fake accounts well outnumber those by real people. And the OP is just nonsense....sigh...
  12. Having worked in Elizabeth Street I can honestly say Sydney is way overated. It takes a day, maybe two at the most to visit the cool and historic sights. And then you are just in a pretentious, overpriced, self important sh*t hole filled with zombies with glazed expressions. As for cultural or other such events, there is no way the OP would be able to afford to pay for all of his family to attend. IMHO he would be much better off to set up camp in a North Queensland farming town such as Ayre. Good climate, cheap rent and lots of seasonal work. He also needs to rethink the strategy to fly his family over on multiple occassions. That is a very poor use of his capital. If there are two trips with let's say, a total cost of 15K AUD each time (tickets, sight seeing etc) that is 700K THB that he could use to buy a red chanote block of land in Isaan and put it in his kid's or wife's name. In the future they will appreciate that far greater than the memory of eating a 12 dollar icecreams while looking at the harbour bridge. Also @4MyEgo I note you are now referring to your Thai parnter as your TGF whereas previously you referred to her as your wife. Amusing that you are now window dressing your back story in the wake of me raising the issue of fraud.
  13. @simon43 you have flat feet and a Morton's toe. Both conditions increase the likelihood that you will develop Morton's neuroma. I know this because I suffer a great deal from this condition in both my feet (more so in the left), almost to the point of losing my mobility. I have tried all shoe and prosthetic solutions but nothing has worked. There are sugical treatments but they have a very low success rate and the neuroma often comes back.
  14. Why don't you go back AFTER you have already reached the age to qualify. Then you would be staying in prison for two years on the taxpayer's dime and not yours? Also you should stop doing your exchange rate calculations based on today's rates. As China collapses and takes the AUD with it you will be getting nothing like the rate available today. In fact over the next five years the AUD is going to hit it all time historical lows. And well deserved due to the retarded decisions by successive governments to keep the housing ponzi afloat. Yes they will maintain million dollars prices for houses, but the AUD will be worthless.
  15. Electric recumbent bike here: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/21-Speed-Tadpole-Three-Wheel-250w_60414079222.html?spm=a2700.pccps_detail.0.0.33f313a0YsFLKJ

  17. In the previous Russian invasion (before the Ruble collapsed) Phuket immigration had to crack down on the ED visa because it was being used by the Russian mafia and prostitutes to work in and around Patong. Compulsory classroom attendance, random school inspections and a raft of other measures where introduced. As always this was not to actually stop Russians using the ED visa for nefarious purposes, but rather to increase the stream of teamoney. I see similar pushback now from the Thais in Phuket as the Russian are back in force and working illegally right across the island (exactly as I predicted would happen a year ago but my posts were deleted as unfounded and speculative). Immigration will now start to move to implement more restrictions on the ED. I have met perhaps 50 Russians of all ages from Phuket that have visited the beaches in my region. All of them were on the ED. And I should add, many of them were families with Mum and Dad well over 50.
  18. I dont use social media. But thanks very much for that link. Low tech is always best. However who knows where my health will be in the future. I am skating on thin ice in that regard already. Something that I have done in the past and would consider doing again is not just riding around but doing so to raise money for a charity. I did that in a former life to raise money to buy equipment for a children's hospital.
  19. I wonder what Buffet and Munger would think of this moronic post. And if you think you money is safe in any bank nowadays you are entirely deluded.
  20. I never trade on margin. I managed to skim 2.5% yesterday and 1.5% today on the same fund. 4% is a solid return given only two days exposure to the underlying asset.
  21. Safer than liquid nitrogen (cryptherapy). I have a pair of stainless ice tongs. I just shatter pieces off the block with a hammer and wood chisel then have at it. Very low tech but it works and it does not cost 3500 baht and I do not lose a day (or my life) driving to Phuket.
  22. LOL...most... Some rare well publicised examples. Most end in divorce as you well know. Oh...and Americans are no longer de rigueur....Koreans are now the catch of the day.
  23. Might work for ex bar girls, rice farmers and slappers. Will not work for an educated attractive girl from middle class family. No need to worry about an upper class girl, she would not be seen dead with a farang.
  24. No food for thought here whatsoever.... Zero Thais regularly pay sinsot in excess of 1 million for a lady who is educated and from a good middle class family. I personally know three lads that have done so. Are you new to Thailand or do you have amnesia? Remember the story a few years back where the Thai BF capped both the mother and the daughter because the mother requested 1 million sin sot? Middle class family that owned a successful car parts business and the BF just walked into the shop and started shooting. And NEWS FLASH 1 million baht is chump change nowadays. A good deal of the members on this forum will suddenly realise that when the financial requirement for a Non-O extension is increased to 1.6 million. With all purchases in Thailand, it pays to be a prudent shopper. As I posted here months ago the GF's older brother in his late 50s married a very pretty 17 year old girl from their village. Whole village showed out for the wedding. Sinsot was laid out for all to see...50K THB.
