The ride. Stopped with the Taxis when I bounced half way from Bangkok to Pattaya. Slower, have to wait, have to get Bolt but I am okay with that. I've done Taxis when traveling from US.

You have two choices. I'm pro business so think Trump would be the better choice. He at least tries to get deals done. Don't care really, whatever happens we will have to adapt. If any candidate allowed the people to have multiple selection vote on foreign aid, social security increases, military spending, national debt and taxes I'd be on board.

Pattaya sweeps streets of homeless to ‘clean’ up its act for tourists
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Seemed to miss the two regular homeless behind the cars on the sidewalk on beach road yesterday. Agreed with mandatory education in all schools about throwing garbage on the ground when a BIN is 2 meters away. Maybe get some low risk inmates from the jail and take crews around to pick up garbage. -
We feed the monkeys at an undisclosed location and the people that sell food use a long stick or sling shot. I've seen fake snakes scare them so can understand that being effective. Hopefully just the sight is enough. Their gang can be pretty effective and intimidating at separating you from your belongings. Good luck and let us know what you found effective.

Like my man above mentioned. Like many things it was in a bubble, Taxi man thinks like many investors that things always go up. Motorbike Taxis charge to much in my opinion. I have a motorbike and know how much the bike, maintenance, gas, and time what a fair price should be. I refuse and would rather take truck taxi or walk. A car taxi is different and am willing to pay more because the car is more expensive to own and they wait in traffic longer.

Could do with some support and advice here ?
J Branche replied to The Cobra's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Definitely agree once it gets to the anything you say escalates level it is time to go for a walk and talk later. When your in that irrational state of mind you can't expect many rational thoughts. -
You take a society that has pretty weak Math skills, pay them below living wage money, creates the need for a loan, they have Zero clue how much they spend a month so will fall into the endless debt cycle. Sad, trying to teach the few children about budget, value of money but its replaced by a game seconds later. We will need AI because most of these kids have limited skills.

J Branche replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
Talk to Auntie who is driving around Pattaya for a very long time. Accidents she has had at low speeds only resulted in scrapes, bumps and bruises. You only have to be wrong one time on a motorbike before game over. -

Bangkok Streets to Undergo Significant Improvements
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
So trying to get things ready for Formula 1 to visit and see if the streets are up to standards. Maybe like Theppasit here in Pattaya it will start to crumble after 2 months. The roads in Pattaya are bad after drain pipe install because either base layer is not correct material and compacted correctly or pipe may have a leak causing a cave in due to the material washing through the separated area. That is what an inspector is suppose to due perform inspection of the progress at different usually critical points to prevent potential premature failure of the repair. -
Jobs, to bring investment to Thailand. If is manufactured in Thailand the costs are less. Customs duties etc make some imported products ridiculously expensive. They also know that some foreign tourists will pay for brands they are familiar with as they are not usually good with the quick currency conversion at the point of sale

First arriving in Thailand, nieve about anything below the surface in Thailand. Everything was new, interesting and exciting. Still love Thailand, Thai culture and people just now with a different perspective.

Foreign couple loses 100,000 baht to Muay Thai trainer in Phuket
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Yes, I always trust someone I have known for only a short time. Number 1 rule in Thailand is everything is about Money and how to get you to part ways with your money. If they were Not attempting to do something questionable they could have gone with them to the Immigration office, once all the paperwork and Visa fees are paid and Immigration has the passports for processing a portion of the money could be transferred. Lastly in any of these Agreement a clear message of what your expectations are and expect the other person to complete with the agreed fee mentioned will help clarify the objectives. The person obtaining the Visa sending a photo of their license may also help. -
I've heard Integrity Legal talk about this and he mentioned two things beside what is listed on the website. A Thai tourist will need No or weak ties to the US and strong ties to Thailand and reason to return. I would definitely make sure they have fairly recent passport stamps showing traveling to and returning from other countries to help bolster their case I read one time it was easier to get a Visa for intention of marriage in the US then just as tourist but do Not know if this is true.

Bank of Thailand Intervenes to Manage Baht's Exchange Rate
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Posts are right about some tourists. From US if they prebooked they are committed. Airlines will not refund ticket if canceled. Tourists from US also spend more freely when on Holiday. Overall yes word will spread and some budget travelers may delay or change their holiday plans. -
Bangkok Bank + insurance (package deal)
J Branche replied to lostintransit's topic in Insurance in Thailand
True, went to 3 different bank locations before I found the one willing to open the account with no insurance. Do not be fooled and be willing to walk away. Tips: have all paperwork ready to go. Be very polite and do Not get angry or make a scene this will cause them to lose face. If you have a trusted Thai partner who can influence the bank worker and get the process started it may be helpful. Be happy, maybe joke with them and make them want to help you because your a good guy. -
Two Syrians Arrested at Phuket Airport with Fake UAE Passports
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
These guys not realize that Thailand has a decent passport verification system. The MRZ number (probably was not correct or in the wrong format and was quickly flagged) additionally they have access to what security holograms etc should look like and where they should be placed for most countries and especially a well known country like the UAE. -
How healthy, girlfriends total cholesterol was 300. The big food companies CP do Not want to have to put a nutrition label on their food. In 7-11 I picked up the a pack of mini hot dogs from the shelf and no label. Should do like some countries and use the Red, Yellow, and Green system for fat, cholesterol, salt, and sugar. Unfortunately they will just use microprint so you can't read and see how bad this package stuff is for you.

Are cars legally required to stop for a zebra?
J Branche replied to berro's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
So from reading these post their is a lack of education or caring for people using Zebra crossings. I thought that some where painted red so you didn't see the blood stain from the previous victim and scare off the tourists. -
Fatal Dog Attacks in Thailand Prompt Legal Reevaluation
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is what I have read, you can train and condition the dog as a puppy but that is No guarantee he won't bite someone in the future. Maybe the owner should be put in a pin with some aggressive breed dogs he does Not know and see if he has different feelings about these dogs, that is if the dogs decide to let him survive. -
Thai Actress’s Brother Refuses Settlement with Russian Attacker
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Definitely doesn't understand in Thailand, you admit your guilt for a reduced sentence, say your sorry and move on. It takes time for these Russians to learn how things are done in Thailand. Most of us took years to be proficient in understanding Thai customs, processes, and acclimate. Thailand probably sees it as a temporary inconvenience to get as much money out of the Foreigners before they change the rules. -
Baht strength - How long?
J Branche replied to gejohesch's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yes the weakening US dollar will effect the previously strong dollar now that the Fed is going to be cutting Interest rates, I believe the current lows are a bubble and it should get back to 34.5 a US dollar in the following months -
Can't compare Bangkok to Pattaya roads. Bangkok is the capital of course it would have better infrastructure, especially around the government, popular and wealthy areas. Family business is road construction in USA. The repairs either are not compacting the base support layers, they are not the right material, or material depth is not adequate. They may need to check the drainage pipes at the joints. Some areas seem to have settlement that could be caused by the base layer washing threw a pipe that is not joined correctly.
