Chinese Woman Arrested in Pattaya for Human Trafficking
J Branche replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
Watched a video "Is Thailand Safe" about the Chinese actor kidnapping. My opinion yes, Chinese target Chinese in their illegal activities. Most call center scams seem to happen in another countries border region. If someone is attacked usually just one person. I hear that they lure some people with work that will pay much more and then force them to work call centers (Not sure how accurate this is) -
I'll bite. For me it seemed like to much work. Always trying to impress, staying fit, entertaining them, presenting the illusion of wealth (South Florida), trying to be what they wanted you to be and not who you are. They are brainwashed from their mother, friends and media to expect something that only for a few is reality. Thailand it just seems easier in all aspects. Plus you have someone who truly cares for you, accepts who you are and doesn't try to change and mold you into some illusion of the perfect guy.

My understanding there are a lot of goods already shipped to the US and on the way to avoid the Tariff impacts on some companies. I believe reasonable Tariffs could help. They never are, it is a message to that country, and the businesses in China. China moved some manufacturing to Mexico to benefit from Nafta. I don't think we will see Any Chinese passenger vehicles in USA in the next 4 years. US can't compete on price. US will probably say the technology in the car is sending data back to China and is a matter of National Security. No country will give concessions to the US without a benefit. If Tariffs worked as intended everyone would make some fair deal and move on.

Phuket Considered for New Cryptocurrency Hub to Boost Tourism
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Okay, Wink, Crypto currency hub. We can now increase our skimming from the foreigners and their businesses. More gold, watches, houses, and cars for the skimmers we don't want to name. I say full speed ahead as long as it is isolated to Phuket. Hope you get the conversion rate values correct and don't need the money for months it can be up or down 10 to 15% easily in one month. -
Pattaya’s tourism takes a hit after Chinese abduction - video
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
You are right. Read some of the stories, kidnapped, beaten, who knows what the living conditions are, not knowing if or when you get to go home. Usually setup in isolated areas with little or corrupt Police. Very Sad -
Motorbikes flout Pattaya’s one-way rule, locals demand action
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
I'll solve the problem quickly and cheaply. One way road spikes You travel the wrong direction it punctures your tire. Very effective, one time and they learn, especially pushing the bike to the tire shop Additionally setup a video camera or post clips of idiots ruining their tires. -
5 Frenchmen arrested for running police checkpoint in Phuket
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
There is trash all over Pattaya. Either pay highest fine or pick up trash. City would look a lot better and the trouble makers would hopefully think twice. -
Israeli Man Arrested in Pattaya for Using Counterfeit US Dollars
J Branche replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
They believe this is the Thailand of the past. If they read any news from Thailand in past 3 years they would know RTP and CIB are arresting people almost daily for crimes. Maybe Dunning-Kruger effect, they think they are smarter and more capable. It does provide for good entertainment and coffee talk about the past days events. -
The Conspiracy That Won’t Die - Jeffrey Epstein
J Branche replied to CharlieH's topic in Off the beaten track
All the data says whatever happened it was a matter of severe importance to bury it. All the cameras malfunctioned in the Prison, No one knows anything. All evidence is buried. You can waste time speculating but important people probably destroyed any and all evidence long ago. -
Pattaya’s tourism takes a hit after Chinese abduction - video
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Exactly. 70 million people 50 get kidnapped a year so you have 1 in 1,400,000 chance of being kidnapped. These are targeted events. They know the individual, or family has money, crypto or something of value. Sadly I have no Chinese friends so I will miss out on the excitement. -
If landlord provides proper notice 30 days or whatever is specified in lease for "Notice of Termination" I believe the landlord does not need to provide a reason if you are at the end of your lease term. The noise issue. In my condo building this is enforced. Juristic Office provides notice of violation and the fine amount, fine due date. The fine is against the Unit thus against the Owner. The Juristic Office is tough because many tourist/short term renters did not respect the rules. Lastly if you can't reach an agreement and consult with a lawyer he will give you an estimate. You will NOT like his price. Think 50,000 baht for a simple case.

Thai tax and SuperRich
J Branche replied to FlorC's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
From what I found: You are dealing with required legal, reporting, anti money laundering requirements to conduct business with and exchange foreign currency with/through banking systems. BOT must follow (Exchange Control Act, Bank of Thailand Act, Anti Money Laundering Office, Local and Foreign Payment System requirements) Why? It is better for their business to comply. More customers, more systems to exchange or transfer money. A country can freeze or seize transactions they believe are illegal and detrimental to their status on the Global Market. -
Thai tax and SuperRich
J Branche replied to FlorC's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I don't understand your question. If you are looking to pay minimal or zero taxes in Thailand there are Many legal options. 1. Transfer when staying in Thailand 179 days or less in a Calendar year. 2. POR 162, Foreign Assessable Income available prior to Jan 1, 2024 may be remitted in 2024 and following years Tax free. 3.Use all exemptions and deductions. Calculate an estimated amount you will remitt in 2024 or following years. Bring in the total amount exempt in Taxable Income, the remaining needed money in Exempt under POR 162 money. 4. Determine how much of the Foreign Income is Not taxed under the Double Tax Agreement with your country. Bring in more income that is exempt under the DTA, plus you get all the deductions, exemptions under Thai Revenue Codes/Rules, leaving a possible small amount that would be taxed at lower tax rates. -
Worst or lowest part of your life ?

Watching my Father suffer through Cancer before he died. Father was smart, hardworking, caring, successful businessman and friend to many. After couple months of Cancer drugs: 1. Lost some teeth 2. Couldn't add simple numbers when he is excellent at Math 3. Needed a feeding tube 4. Drugs making him unstable and needing wheelchair. 5. Depression, watching him battle and fight back but inside knowing he can't win. Accepting death, leaving his family and friends took a heavy toll. What did I learn? Appreciate the time I have and don't waste it. Helping people is very rewarding to both parties. There are somethings you have Zero control over, it is best to just focus on living a good, happy life, not waste time and efforts when there is no benefit or result. -
Thais Reject Casino Complex and Online Betting Plans Poll Shows
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Study a lot of Behavioral Psychology. Some people can't prevent themselves from drugs or gambling All the time. Yes with the right group/family support and motivation they can reduce it. What is wrong with the Government trying to prevent/help people from doing self or financial harm? Do you have a better recommendation to determine risky behavior that is reasonable, practical, and will be followed consistently. I support the Dream that everyone will do the right thing but my training, experience and knowledge have proven some people need assistance -
Thais Reject Casino Complex and Online Betting Plans Poll Shows
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Government 🙄 They do what they want. You elect them but have Zero control after the election. If they require an Entry Fee to Thai Citizens it may limit the potential for loosing money to the groups with more disposable income. Additionally 0 entry fee for Foreigners targets the wealth transfer from other countries to the benefit of Thailand. Taxes, any increase in tourism or businesses that support the Casino and Entertainment Complex. The negative, Who is going to supervise the Casino is collecting the entry fee on Thai Citizens? Who is going to enforce this? So we know the answer and likely the Casino is calculating I can make an extra 50 million Baht - minus 5 million in Bribes so 45 million is worth the risk. Online Gambling, please educate me How this is a good idea at all. Creates fewer jobs, pays less taxes, creates Zero Tourism, Zero increase in businesses that support a Physical Casino/Entertainment Complex. Risks, Thais who do not have disposable income fall deeper into financial ruin and debt. What safe guards will be in place to help limit the damage to Thai citizens familes and financial futures? -
So Double Standard for Foreigners. Thai people can be poor, have little savings, cause no problems and live a happy free life in Thailand. Regarding your proposed 10 or 20 million Baht. False the better Class of people, Do and Will live in Europe, Singapore, etc because they can Afford a better location with Less pollution and is already developed and already has the better Class of people. Additionally only a FOOL would leave 10 or 20 million Baht in a bank earning No Interest, that little they give you doesn't cover yearly inflation. The Banks Additionally leverage your Bank Deposits and charge customers A lot more interest making the Bank A lot more money. Thailand has many, many great people. The short time Tourist, and Foreigners seems to be main problem. Then you have some idiot Foreigners setting up Scams, Call Centers who Eventually are arrested. Same happens in the USA that many foreign countries admire.

A rant about Thai driving.. I know.. Yaaaawwwnn
J Branche replied to 1happykamper's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
In Pattaya the local Thai drivers are mostly fine. Bangkok license plate 95% chance you will have a problem, Rental Car, Tourist, Foreigners who visit for weeks or a month Problem. Every city has its own driving style, locations that pedestrians and vehicles know to be careful when using. Tourist and Foreigners know none of this. But, What can you do? Maybe avoid certain areas, at certain times and drive carefully, that's about it. We do raise and wave are arm when crossing the road now, seems to help. -
So as it was paid with stolen money, the bank, debt holder for car would be required to return the money. The lady would owe all outstanding debt and any late fees. The foreigner would need to win a court case that he is owed. Can a subordinate lien be placed on the car? Nice to continually read that there is an abundance of people, who are willing to part with large amounts of cash with very little effort to safeguard the money.

The temporary migrant worker visa program is Not be changed that I'm aware. Trump is trying to reduce the burden unfairly placed on the US and US taxpayers. US needs to reduce spending, you can't allow excessive migration for many years and all the services and money spent to support those programs to continue without a balance.

Details emerge on Nakhon Phanom 12 million baht lottery dispute
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
So, person is owed 120 baht, Is given a lottery ticket. The person giving wants 50,000 baht from lottery win. The receiver of the ticket is now missing. Failed to meet to pay 50,000 baht. Some people. If it were true she left ticket as collateral, Not payment you would owe approximately 5,999,880 back to the person. I Thought All the Giving in Thailand brings Good Luck to the giver. Is this a Huge Thai Scam? Do Thai people truly Not follow and believe this concept of giving and Good Luck? -
Thailand Moves Closer to Wealth Tax with New Asset Tracking
J Branche replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
My opinion is they are hoping that X% comply, they receive enough Additional tax money for funding the Future Government and Projects. (High Speed Train, Paying very poor a little money if they prove they qualify, infrastructure, Healthcare, etc.) I believe they understand to Target wealthy individuals who possibly owe a substantial tax payment to Thailand. (The efforts need to pay for cost of labor) After publishing and notifying Thai Tax Residents of the changes they will have the "Ability" to review Some people who should be paying Thai Tax. Taxes owed would again be worth their efforts. Additionally some foreigners will comply and pay a small amount of taxes. Enough foreigners Contribute the government has the Potential to subsidize Education X%, and other worth while projects. That's my dream at least. -
My knowledge is of the US Marshall's service. They need to notify and usually work with the Police in the Foreign country example Thailand. I do know of an instance in Ecuador were someone was captured who was wanted and extracted Without prior notification to Ecuador. They stated that do to the corruption and knowledge of an insider working for the Police in that area they did Not notify first. Luckily Ecuador was cool with it but these things can cause Big problems depending on the country
