  1. Oh yeaah... I know every street and alley. Buddha Hill is fine and look out to Bali Hai. I walked all the way to Central Festival and back.
  2. Pattaya and Jomtien beaches are very clean and well taken care off. In Jomtien good wide walk ways too. The best place for walking safely. Lake Mabprachan has nice 11km loop around it and many muscle parks along the way. Try it! You may want to move there. I did.
  3. Not nice..... and no benches to sit. Bare concrete. No big shade trees. May have plenty of mosquitoes to study? https://www.khaosodenglish.com/life/2022/01/06/a-review-of-bangkoks-new-wetland-park/
  4. Parks like NY's Central Park or LA'a Griffith Park. What they built is ugly swamp... in city!
  5. Sorry to say but Pattaya IS a dump! So is 1/2 of Jomtien. PS. If you come from Manhattan back alleys or downtown LA it looks decent....
  6. "No retirement visa and there never will be. " Pre Covid US citizens got 6m VOA for $ 75 and 12mo for $150. Very easy, on the net Now Vn favors Russians... i don't like it. There's talk they'll bring back cheap long term visas. A good thing is 45 days walk-in unlimited times.
  7. Flower hotel DaNang deal now (I'm going there on Wednesday but staying in luxury for $ 30/day): 3 nights, 2 adults US$143, no meals. Original price US$143. Current price US$31.+ US$4 taxes and charges Vietnam has many great deals. Last time in Phu Quoc 6 days $ 114. No meals. Discounts are crazy! Don't know why. Maybe over priced list prices?
  8. EU - They haven't been stamping for years. Just checking & scanning. Many borders are self scanning now.
  9. I see many are using boarding pass on the phone in EU & US domestic flights. Is it common to Asia too? I haven't seen any to use when boarding to Asia flights from abroad.
  10. Completely clueless writer. Once you get visa to 1 EU country you can travel to all. Also, once you get residency in one you can get to work and/or live in all. There's no "EU citizenship". Every member country have their own rules. Portugal had tax free deal for expats. That will expire Jan 1. 2023. So hurry up! "From January 1, 2024, the NHR regime will no longer be available for new tax residents. However, those already enrolled in the NHR regime as of December 31, 2023, will continue to benefit from it for the remainder of their 10-year eligibility period."
  11. "bury it deeper, use hdpe pipe with no joints in, 1 metre deep, also useful for burying lazy workers. 9 years ago no problems" Why can't you bury them any more if it was ok 9 yrs ago?
  12. Somebody above said "TM30 must be done within 72h" I think it's 24h "The TM30 Thailand reporting form must be completed by the landlord of the unlicensed property the foreigner is renting. This must be done within a 24-hour period of the guest's arrival. This can especially affect property owners who are renting their homes to visitors for short and long term rentals." How about my case: I'll return from Vietnam on Saturday. I always go to Jomtien to report w/in 24h. Now I can't. Will they fine me? PS. I don't do on line anything.... life is too short for that.
  13. "Despite the huge signs I was behind 2 guys together in line recently. 1st one goes to IO without boarding pass" That sign is FAR AWAY from the gate. Many, like me used to do, empty pockets there. How do know Thai rules? Show me an other country with same.
  14. "Well there you go, problem solved (if you can read English). " Who ever took the photo couldn't..... (read below)
  15. "They just live on water only for 2 weeks that month" ....and they get it free at Jomtien Immi office -:)
  16. Not worth to take a change. I book forward flight on airline points and cancel and get points back. Even ticketing fees. On recent flights to Vietnam and back they've checked every time. Same from EU by Thai Airways.
  17. "Same here, which explains some of my early morning posts." sirineou - if you walk around those two lakes in Khon Kaen I may have seen you. I spend one winter there and walked both lakes hundred times, each -:) I lived in lake front hotels. Cheap, simple life. I enjoyed.
  18. "No way am I showing up at Swampy again w/o a onward ticket and reservations from now on." They ask this at the gate when entering the plane. It's airline's requirement, not Immi's. I've entered Thailand 6 times and never asked to see the boarding pass! They do this if they suspect somebody being drug mule and coming via 3rd country, not direct where are living. I learned this from Immi official in EU.
  19. 9-10pm to bed. 4-6.30 to walk in cool, nice weather -:)
  20. I thought a new 30 day period starts from day of visit! That's why I go 1 or 2 days before it's expiring. How it it?
  21. OP - don't forget to take care of TM30 report. They are picky about it now. You also need it when you go to get extension.
  22. Traveling around and using multi entry visa can be confusing to calculate allowed 90 days in 180 day period. I found 2 good sites which I use: https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/visa-calculator/ https://www.visa-calculator.com/
