  1. Just back from hated Jomtien imm. Reporting went well (still in shock); Got there in 8.15 and they were open already (15min before official opening). Building on the LH; got number to building across & desk #10. 30min wait to get to TM30 processing desk. There were 17 before me. Took 5min to do. I'll stop bad mouthing until things change! Very happy what I saw. Will even dare to do 30 day extension too when time runs out. PS. I know this is not about reporting in person but maybe there's somebody who needs an alternative.
  2. It was free. NOT E-Visa but "Visa free". Info; https://www.myvietnamvisa.com/vietnam-visa-policy-updates-news.html
  3. UPDATE; Phu Quoc entry; I got 45 days as in the mainland. "30-days" info still posted but not current or correct. - I hope Thailand copies Vietnam like Vietnam copied Thailand's 30-day visa free entry -:)
  4. 500 THB / 14 USD a big deal? Or is it fear not to get back in? I had 10 days fine but no problem to come back.
  5. Ditto - Big Thanks to hotandsticky
  6. If you go to live there get to know a real life "American Hero", John from Olympia, WA. I've followed his postings w great interest. A good man who gets things done - American way. He's saved so many lives with helmet donations. https://ridingseasia.blogspot.com/2015/12/undercover-cops-ali-baba-photographers.html https://ridingseasia.blogspot.co
  7. "They're NOT just like us -- they are Asians, NOT Europeans" Not so at all; "In the 18th and 19th centuries, French was a common language among upper class Russians. The impetus came from Peter the Great's orientation of Russia towards Europe and accelerated after the French Revolution." Unwashed lower class spoke Russian. Then came revolution and French speaking heads were rolling to Neva river... Russia is a big country. There are all kind of races and different looking people. They seem to be quiet now in pattaya. No problems at all. They understand there isn't many safe havens left and don't rock the boat.
  8. VT2 is a good place for a good price. Very quiet, very clean surroundings and easy parking. Nice big pool. Interesting reading here regarding VT2B. This was one of my past investment interest with VT7. Lots of inside info what's going on among farangs... I like the man getting deeply involved! https://www.facebook.com/p/View-Talay-2-B-Residents-100068676887827/ https://viewtalayb2.wixsite.com/minute-viewtalay2b https://2bviewtalay.wixsite.com/viewtalay2b/post/minutes
  9. I just arrived to Phu Quoc and can recommend to visit! Main road is much better and wider. Safer side walk too. Also, much less constant honking! Pre Covid trips was ruined by Vietnamese habit to lean on honk button 24/7. People, specially young, speak near all some English and friendliness has been increased. Customs were "walk through" w/o attitude officials. Food is much better too! Nice surprise. Prices are low thanks to less Russians. Sad thing to see is rampant over development... and increased dirtiness on side streets and alleys. I love the place so far! Special thanks to Jomtien "place X" to encourage this trip. Money well spent and low blood pressure all the time.
  10. Yes, I'd like to the first who know how to stop this BS push ad that keeps popping up to my screen.
  11. Interesting thing in Vn: 45 days; Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom (not applicable for BNO passport) - If you plan to visit Phu Quoc Island, there is also Visa Exemption policy for foreign citizens here. Foreigners who enter Phu Quoc Island by airplane can have 30 days Visa Exemption. Phu Quoc used to be more liberal allowing 30 days visa free to all. Thay was 15 days more than main land. No it's 15 days less.
  12. I just gave you THANKS! I'm reformed -;)
  13. Tomorrow? Going to Vietnam. I hear there are good deals.... Seriously, thank you all who KNEW something and warned/told me about pitfalls. I didn't know it can be so difficult to buy a house. Also, land lease seems to be full of worms... Time to reconsider the whole deal with my lovely baby. And to those who were able to boost own miserable existence - You are welcome!
  14. Asians are discriminated more after Covid thanks to Dumb Trump blamed Chinese for it and in America an average hillbilly thinks all Asians are "Chinese". Thai people very seldom are involved any criminality outside of Thailand.
  15. I don't use SmartPhone.... Is it BlueTooth transfer? I use LapTop. Would that work? Thanks! PS. True guy is coming tomorrow to put new lines to other floors. Should I get something else wired? Or buy a box etc?
  16. "Yesterday you were worried about the length of her name, and were planning to move to Spain. " Yes, that was MY plan. She turned it down. I understand her. The family and all friends are here and business too. PS. FREE tip; In Spain, if you are EU citizen like me, you get co-habitant status in a DAY in some counties. That'll give your partner (either sex) legal Residency and EU health insurance. No need to marry. That was in my mind why moving there. Plus the best weather!
  17. But he said he doesn't have own account. What then? I'm in same boat - couldn't open an account w/o 12mo visa and now buying a house.
  18. "That is a ridiculous price, since a cup needs 7gr of instant coffee. I know the manufacturers tell you 2gr is enough, otherwise it would be too obvious they are ripping you off, but I go by my taste and just asked ChatGPT, who seems to agree with me" I was able to use my own brain and 2gr is just fine IF I use/drink G7..... ALL others are junk! Try G7 and let me know what you think. I just try help to save money and have a great coffee. I drink 2 liters of coffee a day. 5 x 0.4L cup.
  19. "where is Maneerat exactly located and what's the price for the 30 day visa." - they are "hole-in-the-wall" shop selling and doing many things (use Google for pics) - many are happy although I wouldn't give/leave my passport to any of these type businesses Maneerat; Address: Pattaya 13/2, Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150 Hours: Open ⋅ Closes 4 PM Phone: 081 863 0320
  20. Nice hotel $16-22 in Vientiane. Why stress trip? No worries at border.
  21. "He specifically stated that she will remain the land owner and he will be buying the house, not the land, that is permitted." Finally SOMEBODY who can read AND understand -:)
  22. "Go for it, be sure to pay a little extra to her as a bonus for being so kind!" Finally some sensible encouragement.... 5555 Seriously; I hope somebody, like NEWNATIVE, would give his opinion. He has bought many houses on same area. He sounds like the brightest regarding RE here.
  23. "The above said, I knew what I was getting into, i.e. whatever the house cost me to build on her land, it would never be mine" If things go south hard to believe she would have even right to visit the land as I've paid the 30-yr lease in full. Or is this country more crazy than I think? Is there zero rights for farangs? Am I wrong? "By CharlieH The first thing to understand is that title to the structure of the house and title to the land are normally the same thing. This is because when you own chanote-titled land in Thailand you own everything on it. This is the same in many countries. There is very little freehold/leasehold of houses and land in Thailand, although it can be done. If a piece of land has an existing house or structure on it then it is going to be difficult to split the title for the structure away from the title of the land. If, however, you build a house or structure from new then there is much more chance of separating the title."
  24. Surprise! Leasing from gf will be a problem IF we get married: "Leasing real estate from your Thai wife has several practical problems (payment of rent, income tax). The main reason this structure does not offer protection is that any agreements between you and your wife entered into during marriage can be voided (section 1469 Civil and Commercial Code) and the Land Offices in Thailand generally refuse for this same reason registration of a lease between husband and wife. A right of superficies or right of usufruct may offer a better protection" PS. I hope newnative would take time to give his pro view on this... So much to learn!
