  1. Your lawyer screwed up by using UPS and/or doing an incorrect or incomplete customs declaration. Documents are non-dutiable. I would reject the package. If you do use an alternative broker and pay all the fees, bill your lawyer. For info DHL is probably the best courier option from the UK but in my experience Royal Mail tracked & signed is loads cheaper and just as reliable.
  2. And get Reeves over here too. Then she can get this confounded taxable income conundrum sorted out, ie. you will all pay tax, no ifs buts or maybes. End of.
  3. Sounds like you have been hangin' with them ladyboys. T'aint no bad thang, eh?
  4. "Isn't known" does not equate with "there are none". But I guess you've spent a lot of time living and working in Japan, away from the touristy places?
  5. Yeah, mine's different too.
  6. Hell is Lubbock, TX especially if you have to drive there from Houston.
  7. ...or just maybe some folks didn't do any due diligence before committing to Thailand. Don't sweat it, you're certainly not alone.
  8. Yup, went back in April and enjoyed driving through a few different states, every road trip was a delight and not a single issue with any other drivers in the almost month long stay. The clean air, laid back atmosphere, lack of crowds, and cooler weather was intoxicating! Really looking forward to the next installment of @lordgrinz & @fredwiggy's Excellent Adventure. Hopefully, it will feature Japan?
  9. There are cheats lair's and scammers (sic) in pretty much every country. They also tend to prey on a certain demographic or locale. From what I hear, barstools are a really risky place to be.
  10. Feeling trapped by your life's choices maybe? Maybe give Japan a shot, I hear it's marvelous.
  11. By claiming there's no culture, friendliness and attractions here, you are leading the pack on the Thai bash this morning. Have you thought about getting out more?
  12. Oh wow, are things really that bad over in Hua Hin? Just last week I read that your airport will be going "international" next year.
  13. ...and massage parlors and jet skis and floating markets and flying with gibbons and posting with idiots.
  14. Yes, my skiing trip there was fantastic as well, but all a bit anodyne. The European apres ski wins it for me.
  15. Or maybe, like the other doom and gloom merchants that swarm any news that's vaguely detrimental to Thailand like fleas on a dog, you've all simply been here too long?
  16. What has a dearth of Japanese long-term visa options got to do with their burgeoning tourism?
  17. Do you always respond so badly to criticism? Or is it only the anonymous forum thing?
  18. Already mentioned. Plenty others did including @Yagoda apparently, but it seems he was only after stimulating conversation and was somewhat disappointed.
  19. Of course not. What a daft notion. The following weekend though, we took home the same pair, but this time but we swapped partners.
  20. I guess you missed that Thaksin recently trounced whatever is left of the "progressives" in POA elections in both Phitsanulok and Udon Thani. These provincial contests are a bellwether of national political sentiment, akin to the American mid-terms or UK local council elections. This just in: he's just done it again in Ubon Ratchatani. https://world.thaipbs.or.th/detail/pheu-thai-candidate-wins-ubon-ratchathani-pao-election/55897 Winning!!!
  21. Foreigners can proselytise back home, where someone may actually give a toss. Look out the window. We're in Thailand, for goodness sakes. Who cares about the truth? Sheesh...
  22. Compared to what preceded him and what followed his removal, Thailand moved forward in leaps and bounds under his tutelage. Get over it.
  23. My mate and I scored a couple of mutes from the Marine Bar Disco. When our mates found out the next day, they asked us why, of all the stars available at the Marine Bar, we took home a couple of mutes. My mate, a plain-spoken Yorkshireman, dead-panned with, "We wanted a quiet night."
  24. Me too, but I am neither a taxi driver and nor do I smoke marijuana.
  25. Of course I have. Same as you have checked every single person that ever went off-piste while stoned.
