I'm going to take a hard pass on Chiang Mai......maybe I'll rethink things in December. I had a feeling things were still bad, and why spend the time and money to see something "sick." Less tourists also mean Thais are hungrier for your money.....I don't need that either. I get that where I'm at if I go to a place I've never been before. I'm still taking a trip in October, just not to CM. CM is a comical touristy, chinese, backpacker Bangkok "slumming" mixfest.......with a nice view. I'll wait until the energy comes back. With CM I have expectations.....If I go to some small city, I have zero expectations and then I don't mind a post-COVID dystopian atmosphere. lol Thanks everyone.

this thread can go on for 1000000 pages and I'm not sure we will find the answer. except to see a doctor. Took B supplements, anxiety seemed to become a problem. stopped, anxiety went away. I'll have anxiety and then laugh that I'm creating problems out of boredom. Then I realized it was probably my job giving me anxiety, and it wasn't really my job but like a mid-life crisis. And your mind continues to go in a crazy loop......until you love yourself and you don't blame yourself, then calmness returns. Is it depression? Anxiety and depression? Never had a panic attack or anything that caused me to NOT do anything. Only an idle mind. So then you think it's mental health issues, as you are not laughing like some kid. Being around people or talking to people didn't work. Having real friends really helped. Being in a relationship helps. Mental hobby helps. Physical hobby, not as much as I thought. The crazy part is I feel great now......I think I got tired of being tired, flipped the switch, and relaxed. I don't think I'll ever know what it was.......low hormones, thyroid, yea, you think of everything......but it's really crazy how it can go from 100 to 0%. Bipolar? again, you think of everything. it's just a thought, no signs..... another thing is sugar........and eating habits. and maybe my anxiety was 1 out of 10 but maybe it was 6 out of 10. anxiety isn't anxiety. who knows......but yea I think I understand a little bit about anxiety.

BEFORE Covid in Chiang Mai a lady did the same to me. Very rude, I was trying to be fake nice with my fake Thainess. She was mad I was looking and not buying. When everything shut down because of COVID, I thought of her. lol

I get it....almost. Felt like I was going to 100% scammed a few times, didn't. Got semi-scammed a few times, and once it was like 3000 but he offered a return and I mistakenly tried to fix it myself.......another bad product was 4000 that I gave away........never scammed this blatantly, but a THAI guy I know has. Paid for an amulet (he said more than 20,000) and never got the amulet. Police report was 20 baht he said and he knows nothing can be done. You probably have to forget about it......think about all the money you saved on rent, other stuff like food, etc..... Seems like you have to sue them in court, and that means extra headaches for everyone. He'll get mad, which might be what you want now......all over 22,000. It's a horrible feeling, I get it. scammed. fraud. but hopefully in life you have a net positive from gifts, easy money, good job a Thai could never have, etc....and you forget about this. This 22,000 can suck years off your life in hatred. Maybe this is your life war you have been waiting for...but I doubt it.

I'm a perfectionist. I had miss-struct pennies, upside down quarters, misprint coins, you name it......had to get rid of them all . I have a hundred of these "fake" 20's and will easily part with them.......................I hate them!! But I love money.................20,000 baht each!!!

so death is death? serial killers affect a family the same as cancer? war the same as old age? so if a family member dies in a "non-normal" way it will affect the entire family. Now we are talking about like 3 billion affected in a "non-normal" way. the mental implications are staggering. If you see someone dying from COVID and left in a hospital like a bag of rice and quickly burned......not the same as old age. of course it's easy to just say murdered is the same as an accident if you have no experience with losing anyone.

It's not an easy trip to CM, but it's not difficult. What's the harm in one post? Scale of 1 to 10. 10 means SAME SAME. 1 means super ghost town, super lockdown, even the rats are afraid to come out. I do agree with you, but I'm sensing hope today. My feeling is the islands will be rocking around Christmas. World economy in shambles, but there are enough people with cash who missed LOS. Now it's been years......it's too long. time for the crazy noise again. I live in a very, very Thai area of Thailand. I'll see maybe 1 falang a week. So you "foreign falangs" (meaning falangs not living in Thailand).....come back and get your Thai noise!!! Before covid and back in 2016, I never thought any city in Thailand could be quiet.
