  1. i have given up on those cheap foreigner breakfasts in the area. do you really enjoy eating there? maybe it's a uk thing 🤷🏻‍♂️
  2. Try another immigration office 🤷🏻‍♂️
  3. you sound confused...🤣🤣
  4. maybe he was a bishop meditating.
  5. that's a retirement community...i don't like neighbors and that's the biggest HOA situation i can imagine...
  6. in fact, i'm thinking of doing that very thing run tum, just not in thailand. need to do it in home country where it's stable and not subject to visa and tax policy hassles that put it at risk. also, i want land in my name only and not just a condo. i want to own something that's completely mine free and clear. no loans. no co-owner. no hoa. no condo board.
  7. people age differently. i just saw a video about a guy that moved to the phillippines at 87. https://youtu.be/6ED97vMMF40?si=NmEEd1HgG0Mqi-6E
  8. i wonder if he ever visited thailand? probably did not need to, at least not for the women. too busy with hustler magazine.
  9. you have a decent life renting as well, so there's no benefit there to buying. investing that 1m that's not locked up in a property makes a renter not really down 940k, in fact they would probably break even with the buyer, as long as they don't lose deposits etc moving around. advantage to the renter is they can move at will. the buyer is just sitting in the same place for the 10 years.
  10. people gambling that the price will always go up and they would break even sooner
  11. they crawled out of the elevator when it was between floors through a gap? would never do that. crazy dangerous. the lift could have slipped or shifted and cut them in half.
  12. i hope so. not sure what his problem is. never heard from him, then when high season hit he wanted me to prove i had paid the rent since the beginning of the contract like he was never paid, and never said why. payments go into his personal account. fortunately, i kept all the receipts so i could document payments. felt like he was looking for a lost receipt(s) as an excuse to keep the deposit and re-rent the place, but maybe he did not see the payments hitting his account, or did not know who they were from 🤷🏻‍♂️.
  13. there is a group of younger thai's in real jobs that's interesting, but i don't see them that often: for example, the ones who install the 3bb lines in your home or work for the electric authority. they seem more educated then or have had training in a skilled trade.
  14. How do evictions work in Thailand in a case where the tenant is lease compliant and the owner simply wants them out? Do the police show up and ask to see rental receipts and the lease and make a decision based on that on site, or do they just say move out and settle it in court later? Or do the police not show at all unless they have a court order in hand? * My landlord is acting strange as high season approaches and i have been getting a bad vibe that he may want to re-rent the place in high season for a higher rent and a new deposit.
  15. i stopped going to that area for breakfast. i much prefer a local thai eatery near me. the food is better too.
  16. something strange about 2b. i did not like staying there. i walked down the hallway one time and someone had left their door ajar and there was an elderly guy just sitting on the bed staring at the wall...🤷🏻‍♂️ i think some older people kind of pre-assisted care facilities end up there. i definately felt "older" staying there. it's one of the reasons i left the jomtein area that i was initially looking to move to and chose the central pattaya area instead. jomtein made me feel old...
  17. stairs, probably. or a "special assessment" to fix the elevators. glad I'm renting...
  18. that's usually a fallacy. people think that about the usa also. the reality is you probably don't get much help most of the time.
  19. no, would not help it. it's about choosing the best option. likely he would be arrested if homeless back in home country as well. if i had to choose homelessness back in the usa or overstay here, i would choose here.
