  1. When I first got here I lived in a hotel near central for a month. The chef advised me it might not be a bad idea to live in Jomtien, she didn't really enjoy being around most of her customers(most were from India or China).
  2. I've been here a year and the weather has been great almost every month. Back in the west I had at least 11-12 bills a month just to exist, and everything I had was paid off. Gas, elec, 5 insurances, house management fee, water, sewer, phone, internet, etc. I will admit taxes were low though. Here, I have 5 bills a month(rent, elec/water, internet, phone. All told I pay FIVE TIMES LESS than back in the west. So yes, great weather, less stress, less expense..a great place to live.
  3. They speak English at Planet Kitchen on Thepprasit road. They have several kitchen's on display along with a lot of options for different designs, materials, sizes, etc.
  4. Good, I hope this convinces people to completely stop using their crap.
  5. Oh, okay great you drink less and exercise more and thus feel a lot better. Congrats you solved a major medical mystery.
  6. Follow the money. The wooly mammoth west is getting poorer and poorer every year. Asia wants this to be their century, and so far it is, except for Russia their prospects seem bleak. But Russian's pride on being strong and resilient so I won't quite count them out. In 10 years there will be A LOT LESS westerners here. In 15 years there will only be legitimately rich westerners here.
  7. No problem, I'm glad to share the info. Yes, the sales lady did offer 800k with free tint(all windows) and 1 year free insurance. Their website has a bunch of promos too but I think you have to finance to get those. MG is pushing their inventory hard, lot's of deals to be had.
  8. No problem I hope this is helpful. I really enjoyed the VS X test drive, you're right the 177PS is amazing, I think it was all due to the 200Nm electric engine, which drains pretty fast when pushed hard..but charges back up pretty fast as well. I wonder how much that battery weighs? I believe most HEV car batteries are around 50kg but could be double? Regardless the VS X is impressive, I thought it was a little small when compared to the HS, but I don't need a big vehicle. I actually prefer smaller anyway, esp. since we're in Thailand. The X lists for 919 but you can get it for 800, not bad at all.
  9. I ride in my neighbor's 2021 HS several times a week. Very smooth, no problems at all and a ton of great features..all for under a million baht. We also test drove the MG 5 sedan, decent but not great I would not recommend it. The new M4 electric has quite a few bugs in the software but YouTubers like Bjorn are very impressed with the smooth ride, overall handling, and fast acceleration. It's a first year model so I don't think it's ready for primetime, maybe in 2 years. I did a post on resale value on another thread. I estimate a Toyota/Honda are worth 75% after 5 years. MG probably around 60% so either way you go you lose the same amount of money. The big plus is during those 5 years 400k-500k you save can be invested and make out like a bandit. The MG website has a lot of promotions(HS PHEV, VS, MG4, etc) they usually will install a home charger for free. If you pay cash you can probably get 10%-15% off plus tint and 1 year free insurance. Lot's of things to consider but for sure first year models are the one's I'm steering away from.
  10. Oh okay, I just finished watching a few YT videos where Bjorn drives the MG 4, but missed this one. The driving dynamics are awesome but the software is(or at least was) fairly buggy. They only sell the 51kWh version here but when I checked it out in the showroom yesterday the interior looked way more impressive than the VS and 5. My neighbor is going to test drive the HS PHEV next week so I'll take a much closer look and see if there's anything I don't like about this MG4.
  11. I think when the MG 4 models were first introduced here in Thailand late last year they were more expensive than the 869,000/969,000 price they are now.
  12. You might be right, my neighbor is ordering a whole new kitchen from them but it wouldn't hurt to ask them what they can do.
  13. Even at the %'s you list here it's very close. What does work in MG's favor is: 1. You might really like the car, MG does give you a lot of extra stuff Toyota/Honda does not. 2. You can invest the 400k-500k you save by buying MG and possibly make out like a bandit.
  14. My rough estimate is that if you buy Honda or Toyota you'll retain 75% after 5 years. MG maybe 60%. If these % are correct then you'll lose less money buying Honda or Toyota, but it's pretty close.
  15. Makes me wonder.. ..if you buy a Mercedes and sell it after 5 years are you going to lose more money than if you buy a MG and sell it after 5 years?
  16. That's a pretty good deal but I guess you have to finance to get it. I'm looking at paying cash and getting at least 10% off, 1 year insurance + free tint all windows.
  17. Yes, I can see how having a home charger would be necessary. Can you tell me who installed your charger & how much it cost(for install and approximate monthly elec bill). Thank you!
  18. My neighbor has the regular petrol HS but I'm wondering if the PHEV is a viable replacement. I can't charge in my condo parking lot, only at charging stations. Is it possible the gasoline engine can keep the electric motor close to full charge or do I absolutely need to plug it in?
  19. YES! We've got a front row seat the Global Armageddon and NOTHING is going to save us!
  20. I'm not going to lie the best decision is to get out of the relationship as fast(and cheap) as possible. You deserve A LOT more than what you're getting from her.
  21. My neighbor has a 2021 HS, he bought it for under 1 million baht. He has driven it all over Thailand and had zero problems. However, he does take outstanding care of it, very clean(spotless lol), premium petrol, and all maintenance done on time. These MG's may not be as reliable as Honda or Toyota but for many it's really tough to pay their prices. I'm not big on the MG5 or ZS but I do like the VS and HS SUV's. The MG4 EV is highly rated and cheap here compared to the UK(5,000 pound less and you can talk them down even lower). Are there any other major car brands here in Thailand that will give you over 10% discounts?
  22. I went to MG today with a friend test drive the MG VS Hybrid. The VS is a subcompact crossover. During the test drive the ride was a big surprise. The VS handled very well, the 200Nm torque electric engine was very quick, actually frightening at times. My best guess is 8 seconds from start to 100km/h. The interior is sharp, I won't buy a car with bad seats but these were top notch. Two big touchscreens in the front, makes the car look very modern/upscale. I'm not too fond of the front grill but not too important to me. Also, the VS is a little small compared to the HS but it can be an advantage driving here in Thailand. I was very impressed, will test drive the HS PHEV next week. The search continues.
  23. No allegiance unless the ladies back home lose at least 2-3 stone, which will never happen.
  24. It's funny the west got largely destroyed and then they said "ok, you can have this cesspool, good luck!"
