Congrats on being the most doom & gloom poster I've ever seen. Fancy not being able to live an enjoyable and stable life in Thailand unless you become a permanent resident or citizen. I'm living a happy & stable life with my 1900 baht (A$80) per year to maintain 12 months retirement extensions thank you π

How much negotiation on new bikes?
Pattaya57 replied to Pattaya57's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Thanks guys, I sort of got that feeling that prices were fixed as all dealers I went to had same price. I will try for a free 1100 baht rack if I agree to also buy the 3000 baht lockable bag that goes with it. You can only ask. Better than a free plastic Helmet π -
I'm looking at buying the Honda ADV 160 quoted at 99,900 baht or the Honda PCX 160 quoted at 94,500 baht (Pattaya prices). I think they said rego was around 2100-2200 not sure. I look online and these prices seem pretty standard. How negotiable are Thailand dealers? I know I can just go offer and see but I'd prefer to be more knowledgeable beforehand. Example, for the ADV would they take 100k with rego, or PCX for 96k with rego? Or could I get the 1100 baht rack included for free? Thanks for any advice

Yep, this is a case of a couple of posters pushing their beliefs on a newbie who bought into it. Total waste of money on METV as nearly every report of problems relates to considerable back-to-back entries not multiple short stays like OP. As I've stated many times, I used 3/4 visa exempt entries per year since I retired in 2018 and I stayed 270 days in 2022 and 220 days in 2023 with no questions ever asked, so why would IO care about OP's week long stays?

Proof that not every dead bar has to re-open as another bar. Went to the old Walkabout Creek bar on corner of 3rd road and south Pattaya road and found this π

I was a bit skeptical of this but just checked now USD - same 33.12 GBP - same 43.25 EUR - TT 36.19 / ME 36.20 AUD - TT 22.15 / ME 22.20 They're only 10 metres apart so worth checking both if worried about a few satang. I'll just go to the closest TT and be happy knowing it's one of the best rates.

Banking service???????
Pattaya57 replied to Lacessit's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Not all do. I use Jomtien immigration and I have a "fixed time deposit" with Krungsri that you cannot update any time during the fixed deposit. I was given 12 month extension no problem. -

I'm calling it a make or break game for 49ers who play divison leader Seahawks at 07:15 Friday morning. 49ers are 2-3 and 0-2 in division, so another loss will put them in serious trouble. A 49ers win however will put them equal with Seahawks at 3-3, so go niners π

Yeah but it only differs by a very small amount that a Tourist shouldn't really care about. I walk beach road, 2nd road and bukhao most days and for some reason the TT near the Avenue is always highest. But we're talking only 5 baht on A$100, like 22.20 vs 22.15 (so about 20 cents difference on A$100)

It's too early to tell as most problems are people doing back to back stays and that can't have happened yet on 60 day visa exempts The first 60 day VE was issued 15 July, so 60 days + 30 day extension is 12 Oct for first border hop to get another 60 + 30 days. Only on their 3rd 60 day entry will people know how easy it is (that'll be in January)

I don't think there's one in Central but there is one on corner of soi 8 and 2nd road, so about 20 meters from central. They normally all have same rate as they publish it on Facebook every morning around 10-11 am (but do update during the day if big changes) https://www.facebook.com/share/SdejgSyaCzdXyfkx/

There's a TT currency exchange every 100 metres or so in Pattaya. They give the best rate and they are literally everywhere.

That web page you linked to is dated August 2019 and still says visa exempt is 30 days. The latest web page from the London Embassy does not require any financial information for METV (nor does e-visa application portal). This changed in July this year just after the 60 day visa exempt became active https://london.thaiembassy.org/en/page/tourist-multiple-entries-visa

Converting 60 day Visa to Retirement
Pattaya57 replied to DaRoadrunner's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It's answered in the very first reply in the thread he linked "You should apply for non O with 15+ days remaining on your permission of stay". -
It's funny that it's cheaper in the UK than in Aussie. Latest price in Coles was $5.00

You were given a few good reccomendations for Mr Jscks on Soi Bukhao. Any reason you didn't try him?

Didn't you already do this thread 4 weeks ago?

Just a follow up to whether someone can get a re-entry permit on a visa exempt entry like stated you can in this thread. There are numerous sites that say you can't and if it was possible why would agents that sell re-entry permits say it's not possible? Surely they would gladly sell it to you if they could. Here are 3 sites that say it's not possible. Before people start to discredit these sites, how about instead link one site that clearly says it is possible. I couldn't find any! - - - - - - - - - - - Bangkok Immigration - clearly says a re-entry permit can be granted for a visa (visa exempt entry is not a visa) "But if before leaving the Kingdom, the alien has been granted permission by the competent official to be able to re-enter the Kingdom with the current visa held." https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/re-entry-permit/ - - - - - - - - - - - Who Is Not Eligible for a Thailand Re-Entry Permit? You are not eligible for a Re-Entry Permit for Thailand if you have one of the following: β’ A Thailand Visa On Arrival, which is valid for a maximum of 15 days and non-extendable. β’ If you are from a country whose nationals do not need a Thailand Tourist Visa and you have entered the country under the visa-exemption rule. https://visaguide.world/asia/thailand-visa/re-entry-permit/ - - - - - - - - - - - "If you are holding 30 days exempt visa stamp or Visa on arrival than you canβt get a Re-entry permit" https://thaivisaexpert.com/single-multiple-re-entry-permit/ Yes it's not updated to new 60 day visa exempt but it's pretty clear visa exempt doesn't qualify. - - - - - - - - - - - I can post many more sites saying it's not possible and I've had an agent actually tell me it's not possible. Can anyone post a site that clearly says you can get a re-entry stamp for a visa exempt entry?
