  1. It's two young ladies from Denmark that died from same drinking 😞 "A statement from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can confirm that two Danish citizens have passed away in Laos."
  2. Giving troll oxygen post deleted. Sorry.
  3. Every thread you post the same "immigration is corrupt" rubbish that has nothing to do with the thread topic. OP admits that he's been living in Thailand continuously for a long time so not surprising he got told he's not a tourist eligible for visa exempt. He's 53, get a non-imm O like most other 50+ people that live in Thailand
  4. I didn't have to do the whole process again (that would be filling out TM30 form and attaching copies of passport, entry stamps and condo docs). I just handed over my TM30 form and they swapped it for the small TM30 slip of paper (took about 2 minutes)
  5. I don't have a lease agreement and my blue housebook doesn't have my name in it so it's a TM30 for me
  6. My experience at Jomtien is that every application required a copy of my TM30. Some examples: I'm about to do a residence certificate and the document list asks for a TM30 I did a 90 day report last month and a copy of TM30 was required and is on the 90 day required document list on the counter I did a non-imm O 12 month extension in July. I had a print out of the online TM30 I did myself. I was asked to go replace that print-out with the small TM30 slip of paper they staple into the back of passport. Luckily I didn't have to apply again, just swapped my TM30 page for the small slip of paper. Countless 30 day extensions at Jomtien since 2018. All required a copy of TM30.
  7. To go at 4pm is pretty bad advice imo. As immigration closes at 4:30 I'm pretty sure the info desk issuing the tickets closes around 3:30ish (would depend how busy as to exact time they finish). Even if the info desk is still open, going at 4pm has huge risk if everything doesn't work perfectly.
  8. So you think it might be dumb luck rather than believe the many of us that told you it was more efficient now and should take less than an hour (which it did) 😆
  9. Of course the nationality matters in a story like this. I read every story I could find on these two because they were fellow Aussies. Sadly I also read 2 other tourists apparently died from same incident Either Danish? It is understood at least two Danish women in their 20s have died, and at least 10 have fallen ill after drinking the tainted alcohol. Or Swedish?
  10. That's from some random law firm and I've never heard a category of "if caught leaving Thailand" as IO's don't check 90 day status on exit (that's more of an overstay issue) I'd rather go by the actual TM47 reporting site which says the following
  11. Geez, it's to give the reader an idea of who the victims are to add more feeling/sympathy for them. In this case two 19 year old girls just out of high school are now on life support after a Laos bar was giving out free 'vodka' shots
  12. Press reporting "Two other tourists are feared dead and 10 more are ill from methanol poisoning in the area" https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/melbourne/article-14098623/Bianca-Jones-holly-bowles-laos-thailand.html
  13. It changed during last upgrade and it's annoying. It used to go to first unread post which makes sense, now it goes to last post and you have to figure out which post you're up to. Anyway, you can change it in settings so I changed mine back to view first unread
  14. Thread headline and OP makes it sound like this happened in Thailand whereas it happened in Vang Vieng in Laos (130 km north of Vientiane) I'd think naming the village would do more good for awareness to be careful
  15. Then they can piss off somewhere else. No-one will miss them
  16. Sucks to be you. I'm generally done in less than an hour, 90 minutes tops (I had one time I was late arriving and had to come back after lunch)
  17. I haven't done a 90 day report online yet but I do TM30 online and just email it to my Juristic who print it out for me
  18. He said he was on parole having to do 90 day reports. If he doesn't want to do them then just cancel his O visa. His choice.
  19. I find it strange that popular sports bars never seem to have enough staff during big events? I was at Witherspoons yesterday while the UFC was on. Went to order breakfast and waitress said "food will take a really long time" whatever that means. Ended up going to Sports Hub instead where not as busy but at least they could handle the service
  20. So you can cancel your need for so called parole anytime you want, your choice!
  21. It's discussed because this thread is about a 30 day extension, not a retirement extension. You used to always get passport same day but that changed to next day last high season. A recent report above says it's back to same day service for the 30 day extension.
  22. So easy option is to get a non-imm O (Retirement) e-visa unless you don't have equivalent of 800k baht in a bank somewhere. I don't see the difference between a 60 day visa exempt and a 60 day tourist visa if the reason you were denied is you live there rather than being a genuine tourist? Surely they could say the same next time as you still live there?
  23. And 49ers have now lost to all 3 of their NFC West rivals to go 5-5 overall and last in the division. I thought having McCaffrey back would correct the ship, but nope!
  24. Not yet. It's officially on hold until more countries have access to the e-visa site which will be used to issue the ETA
  25. Either way that is old news. I was at Jomtien in July, September and October and there was hardly anyone there with no queues at all unlike a year ago when absolutely packed (process much faster now and number of extensions significantly reduced due to 60 days visa exempt) It also took me only 40 minutes to get a non-imm O 12 month extension as there was no queue, but people are saying here to line-up in a queue an hour before opening and then wait to get through that pre-opening crowd. Not good advice unless you want to take 2 hours
