  1. This thread title makes me think it might as well say can anyone recommend a good 7-eleven. Both are everywhere in Pattaya
  2. Yep, it's pretty much fully open every day I walk past. I never see many empty stalls
  3. And it just happened right in front of me, Indians waking 3 abreast on 2nd road just took out a bike Grab rider in front of Bodega bar (all okay). Why would anyone walk 3 abreast on 2nd road. Grab driver rode off but I would have been asking for at least 1000 baht as he dropped his bike so must have had some scratches.
  4. Well OP wants to bring his own tent so that won't help him. This nongnooch thing seems more like a military camp and it cracked me up how close the beds were in their 108 person dorms 😆
  5. I think that would have made the Pattaya news if so?
  6. Because he ran out of random topics to make about Pattaya...
  7. Plenty of space to put a tent by the Pattaya sign. Should be pretty safe up there at night with all the soi dogs 😉
  8. You should have no problem with that plan and it gives you 5 months without having to visit immigration
  9. All this discussion on motorbikes is not required. OP walked all over to find salad at 30 baht/kg so he's obviously not going to spend 50-60 baht on a Motorbike taxi 😉
  10. It's acually 800k baht for the retirement non-imm O, not 400k. Also did you miss the part where he'll be spending less than 6 months per year in Thailand so doesn't need a long term visa
  11. For the first 90 days I would do the non-imm O e-visa (retirement or marriage). I recently got the retirement visa which was pretty easy to get (A$120 and approved in 3 days). Gives you first 3 months without having to visit immigration. For next 3 months you can do a border hop and come back on free 60 days visa exempt + 30 day extension (1900 baht at local immigration)
  12. To summarize, OP's friend is in Pattaya, has only 2 weeks left on a visa exempt and does not have a bank account yet. He needs to hire an agent to open a bank account asap (costing about 4500 baht). He will then need to leave the country and come back on another visa exempt to meet time requirements as Jomtien requires the 800k in the bank for 2 months for application of a non-imm O (rest of country 1 day). Or go back to Bangkok and get 30 day extension and then apply for bank account and non-imm O there.
  13. Deleted
  14. You forgot fingerprints at the IO desk. As soon as you scan fingers your whole Thailand history pops up on computer
  15. As per your items in Jomitien (1) you need to have the 800k in bank for a minimum of 2 months so you can only apply after that (so in your case within the last 5 days before your expiry) (2) My 12 month extension took less than an hour and all buildings are now aircon with lots of seating. You line up in building on left to get document check and queue number (also photocopier in that room at 3 baht a page). Then go inside main building to await your number at Desk 8. You come back next day to pick up passport. (3) I think no chance of extending your old stamp by 3 months. New application will give 12 months from current expiry date
  16. I downloaded a free vpn, funningly enough called "Free VPN" in google play store. Can watch all Aussie TV through their TV channel apps
  17. Thanks for confirming Jomtien don't require bank statements for ongoing 12 month extensions. As for original Passbook, I also needed to show it and he checked it against the photocopies. I needed my passbook to get the bank letter that day so I had it with me anyway.
  18. This thread provides so much confusion as so far all of the following have been stated as required for 12 month extension: (1) You must have bank statement issued by the bank (2) You may be able to use statement downloaded by bank app (3) You can use statement downloaded from bank app if you get bank to sign/stamp it (4) You don't need statement for fixed deposit accounts, only savings accounts (5) You don't need bank statement, copy of passbook is fine For me, passbook copies was accepted without a bank statement (Jomtien).
  19. If it's only "minutes" for approval it sounds like it's automated 😉
  20. I have a fixed deposit at Krungsri and I can print a 12 month statement from my App (note I get the interest on 20th of every month so account has movement)
  21. OP appears to have come to Thailand already with a non-imm O so this would be his first 12 month extension (like I just did). I can't understand why they would need a bank statement just to prove 800k was 2 months in the bank? Anyway, my bank knew exactly what was needed for my immigration so I would just go with what they say for if a statement is required or not.
  22. No. I had the bank letter and copy of passbook only
  23. As you already have a non-imm O you should not have any problems. As I understand it source of funds is only asked when applying for the non-imm O in Thailand. It is not required to get the 12 month extension. I recently got my first 12 month extension at Jomtien. All I had to show was the bank letter and copy of my passbook showing funds had been deposited for minimum 2 months.
  24. I've now got 3 confused emoji on this post so wondering what's confusing people? It costs me 10 baht to go from Pattaya Tai (South Pattaya Road) to Kiwi & Wombat bar on soi 9 Jomtien, and it costs 10 baht to come back from soi 9 to Pattaya Terminal 21. I hand over 10 baht coin, driver says thank you, so pretty simple to understand? Years ago they used to stop on 2nd road just after Pattaya Tai and you had to pay 10 baht and get another baht bus further. Now you can just get off anywhere on 2nd road from Jomtien for 10 baht.
