  1. Those are questions I've been asked many times by diff banks, especially for investments. A few years ago opening a kasikorn account they asked me similar questions. Last year a bank in mainland Europe sent to me a similar request to confirm my details or they would restrict the account unless I provided the info by a certain date. I provided the info. Does not matter how long you deal with the financial institutions, they are basically faceless organisations and only tick the boxes for their regulatory requirements and their own internal banking management whatever that may be.

  3. This is hardly for protecting against motorboats. The idea is to prevent the ships colliding with the bridge piers/foundation, notice in the accident the container ship is stopped on top of the bridge foundation Referring to ships, Ship - Large buoyant watercraft A ship is a large vessel that travels the world's oceans and other navigable waterways, carrying cargo or passengers, or in support of specialized missions, such as defense, research and fishing. Ships are generally distinguished from boats, based on size, shape, load capacity and purpose Protection of bridge piers against ship collision - Holger Svensson AASHTO Guide Specification and Commentary For Vessel Collision Design of Highway Bridges V1 For example the Rosario-Victoria Bridge collision Protection. As a result of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge collapse… in the USA 1988: Pooled-fund research project sponsored by 11 states and FHWA for design code on evaluating vessel collision 1991: AASHTO adopts the Guide Specification for Vessel Collision Design of Highway Bridges
  4. That would be the regulatory framework which wise has to comply with in Europe and in Thailand in keeping and updating their kyc information and their reporting requirements. Financial institutions abroad update their requests frequently. There would be no direct request from RD about you personally. Which countries tax number did you provide them with?
  5. Hilarious is such a comment made like this. They should have installed protection fenders/barriers around the piers to prevent the vessel impacting the piers at all. This is engineering practice in the US since the 1980's. For eg PROTECTION CELLS: These structures are meant to deflect ships away from bridge piers. If damaged, they are much cheaper to fix or replace than a bridge.
  6. Agree that was an awful film and Conor McGregor, this is what some reviews write "Jake Gyllenhaal almost makes a 'Road House' remake seem like a good idea -- and then Conor McGregor shows up." The version with Patrick Swayze was much much better.
  7. It should have been considered in the design. The piers and foundation should have been secured/protected to prevent the bridge deck from being knocked off the piers Engineering for public works should have high standards of safety and low risk to the public from all eventualities. The vessel is the Dali, a Singapore-flagged container ship.
  8. Ha you have managed to get away with filling in those forms up to now. TIN = tax identification number.

  10. Agree If the condo is in your GF name and is within the 49%, but who paid for it, did the money come from abroad and will there be an FET? Foreign individuals possessing a Permanent Residence permit. Foreign individuals residing in Thailand under the laws governing investment promotion. Foreign individuals who have a foreign currency bank account, or withdraw money from a non-resident bank account, or who bring foreign currency into Thailand. This is what the land dept clarified to someone on some web site. "The Land Department has clarified this issue as follows – Although the Condominium Act restricts foreign ownership to those who fall under Section 19, and only allows foreigners under Section 19 (1) and (2) to inherit a condo and keep it, the principal law governing succession as specified by Sections 1599 and 1600 of the Thai Civil and Commercial Code (CCC), applies here in cases of foreign inheritance too"
  11. The only thing which matters is the actual laws, not some web sites explaining things around on the websites. CONDOMINIUM ACT B.E. 2522 (1979) as amended 2008 https://library.siam-legal.com/thai-law/condominium-act-ownership-sections-19-1-19-11/ Chapter 2: Ownership of Apartment Section 19. Foreigners Aliens (foreigners) and juristic persons regarded by law as aliens (foreign) may hold ownership of an apartment if the are the following: Aliens permitted to have residence in the Kingdom under the Immigration law; Section Code: 0040 - 0052 Immigration Act, B.E. 2522 Chapter 5: Entering to take Residence in the Kingdom Details Chapter 5: Entering to take Residence in the Kingdom https://library.siam-legal.com/thai-law/thai-immigration-act-take-residence-in-the-kingdom-sections-40-52/ My opinion is If a Thai owns a condo and the condo is in the 49% foreign quota, the condo can be transferred as inheritance to a perm resident or Thai national. If the foreigner is not a perm resident, the land office must be notified in 60 days and sell up in 12 months. If the owner is foreign and bequeaths the ownership to a foreigner the foreign ownership can be transferred.

  20. My opinion, years ago with win7 it used to be the case of updates taking long, but never hours. Win 8 and win 10 improved updates and If an update was taking more than 30 mins I would say there is some problem. It would be quicker to delete the c drive windows partition and reinstall/reconfigure windows. Wonder if the OP has separated the partitions, one for the windows installation and its updates and another partition for the all the other stuff. I mostly use linux since years now and once one understands the partitioning and install, most distros are quite easy to install and configure and it does not take more than 30mins. The usual yada yada about software for linux is not available and linux is not easy compared to windows, its just a diff OS, need learning and understanding like most things, there are alternative linux programs in many cases and yes can just have some kind of dual boot and can boot to windows when some specific windows software is required. Linux has regular updates and they are quick.
