  1. Once living long stay in Thailand foreigners here are get more aware on how they get cheated, no doubt on that.... and it happens in every non fully developped country. But one also gets aware that in Thailand one needs to avoid even more the falangs here as there are many many dodgy foreigners all fleeing their issues back in the west, who have set up base in Thailand. Not all obviously, but many and mainly those running businesses.
  2. Funny because hotels are all starving to get foreigners as most are only partially booked.
  3. Should rather legally hire foreigners in shops for instance due to local sales staff who often cannot speak a work of english. Or at most hire all the bar stool girls as sales staff, who have great language talents.
  4. Don't think the home owner was a foreigner. Best thing is to name and shame the crooked developper all over foreign social media from abroad of course and in the newspapers in the hometowns of the dishonest developpers.
  5. sorry but we don't click on unknown links from strangers...our dads said not to do so...so sorry...
  6. Cant really blame Spain....now if they could do the same and boycott Thailand with the Chinese, that would be so kind of them.
  7. Whatever the choice, it is always a better deal to buy from the local thai shop selling only aircons because they know what the local dynamics are and are street smart. Flee from the malls as they are just out to make a quick sale with bad after sales service usually.
  8. Screen also all the falangs legally living in Thailand, in Hua Hin, Bangkok.... who run businesses and cheat foreigners in overcharging or with crappy quality deliveries. Mainly in the real estate business, tailor shops or restaurants.
  9. Lots of property being sold off by retirees who do not wish to get taxed on their pensions. Also many properties sold off in beach towns due to faulty construction delivered by irresponsable developpers. Heard many bad experiences from people on social media mainly in Hua Hin or Hin Lek Fai areas with badly finished villas with swimming pools from so-called reputed developpers. Major defects that were not visible to the naked eye during the hand over of the properties. And as a foreigner, good luck to get any justice in the courts, so the only resort the victims have is to warn others in Asia or Europe.
  10. Disgusting how Ukraine refused to present condoleances. It just shows how those people are and the US and European Union are supoorting them. Full respect for Thailand's decency.
  11. Foreigners will not invest in real estate any more with all the crooks who sell defective homes in major beach towns like Hua Hin
  12. The Bangkok or Hua Hin garbage dumps at the shores have hopefully not (yet) polluted these lovely areas. But mass tourism definately will do so soon.
  13. What about the many crooks in real estate who sell houses to foreigners on leasehold and do not deliver the property with the proper quality or safety standards ? No serious legal protection for the foreigner who has put in money. Better thus never to buy in Thailand unless you put in what you do not mind to loose.
  14. Ok one could perhaps trust a global trade show but how to trust those local gem or gold joints that are all over ? They could very well either push in fakes or upgrade the quality of lower grade stones or gold. I would never trust a jewelry shop for such valuable pieces in Thailand. It's like buying a "genuine" Rolex at Bangkok MBK mall !!!
  15. Many out of many Hua Hin, Bangkok, Phuket etc restaurants are cheating in their prices and overcharge foreigners. Write down the prices on the menu when ordering, When the bill comes, add up yourself and often there will be a difference of prices between the menu and what's on the check.
  16. Of course all the garbage dumps and burning of crops or plastic all over has nothing to do with polluting. But one can agree that there is lot's of wasting in such hotels and mainly in house developpments where precious ressources like water are openly wasted for excessive watering of gardens, just to overcharge the house owners with higher water bills, as often they are paid to the developpment managers who get a cut.
  17. The main section of Thai road law is that the falang/foreigner/tourist is always the one at fault.
  18. We can fully trust the immigration staff to make sure the online systems remain inefficient, just to keep their jobs. Forcing foreigners to comme personnally to the office for the Thai immigration visa harassment is the best way to secure their jobs behind their plastic glass window counters.
  19. Utter rubbish. The trillions the US is squandering on it's wars all over the world thanks to Biden, is taking the american economy close to bankrupcy.
  20. Depends where you are. If you to to Hua Hin, Phuket, Koh Samui etc...you will definately be ripped of with the overcharging and sometimes the average quality. Bangkok seems the best place for quality at decent prices.
  21. I don't see tourists spending a fortune to see the twerking skiny clad Taylor Swift. It's the locals and people living for more then a few weeks who may rush to see the show. If it was Dua Lipa, that would be a different story😝. Never understood the craze on Swift... I also find it very irritating when artists think they are divine saviours of the world. It mainly to get free publicity and do the buzz. Artists must entertain and that's it... and we pay for that. If I want to see some alarming political opinions, I can switch on the News or read the papers.
  22. This will chase away the russian quality tourists who knows ? Nobody deserves to get robbed and assaulted of the sort. Very bad image for Thailand as the news must have obviously spread on social media.
