  1. On the 3rd day of police overtime, the death toll rose to 143 with 841 injuries (some grievous/life-changing.) Again the principal cause was speeding. See above for the rest of my view on the efficacy of RTP.
  2. On the 2nd day of police overtime the death toll rose above 70. The principal cause was speeding. Surely this offence is the easiest to eradicate given the number of CCTV cameras that are only consulted AFTER an event? If the police were to work more than the 14 dangerous days in a year, drivers might curb their bad habits.
  3. The first day of RTP overtime resulted in 52 deaths (so far) and god knows how many grievous life-changing injuries. I wonder if RTP worked more than the 14 dangerous days in a year, things would improve?
  4. Luckily the dog escaped injury & its Thai owner did not have to grieve. UK was like this 70 years ago so maybe in a hundred years Thailand will have caught on.
  5. I had a thorough eye test at an Opticians in Pattaya at Lotus Thepprasit. My 2nd pair I visited Boots in UK. Though the 2nd visit was some years later, the specs cost 30% less than the Thai price.
  6. Usually High season or rainy season.
  7. If you can't hold your beer, you shouldn't be driving a motor bike.
  8. The signs confuse Thai road users too. They are often misled by speed restrictions which is why the police pardon them.
  9. Thanks for your speedy reply. Where can I find this information in case I need to quote it?
  10. I bring my money in through Wise at 5000 UKP every couple of months. How does one get a Wise card? How much does one pay to use this card per transaction? I also heard that UK Government pensions (like teachers/firemen) are exempt from Thai tax; is this true?
  11. He's saving up to get Pattaya police to do any work.
  12. He admitted he had swallowed the tablets with nine beers and three sang soms.
  13. Death or Life in a Thai prison? Choices, choices!
  14. '31-Year-Old Man on Aerox' - I didn't know this was a make of bike; I thought it was the latest drug of choice.
  15. The police are too busy lowering the casualty rates on the roads.
  16. I broke the World record for the 300 metre journey from Suk to 3rd road - 25 minutes.
  17. Meanwhile those with no lights are ignored by Pattaya's uncaring police.
  18. It's the wat near me that's the main culprit.
  19. It is rumored that these women are prostitutes and touting for business. This is a blatant lie as Pattaya police have repeatedly announced there is no prostitution anywhere in the town; particularly outside the main police station.
  20. They take it in turns; it's called 'perks of the job'.
  21. I watched it last night on my IPTV box. Despite some great set piece action scenes, my abiding memory was of little messages (in English) appearing at the bottom of the scenes which involved wine drinking; 'Alcohol is injurious to your health'! In one scene where our hero is being stitched, he is given a joint to dull the pain; again with a Smoking warning!
  22. As is speeding and red-light running thanks to RTP indifference.
  23. It's possible he parked in someone's spot who phoned rent-a-mob. Only 4 - 6 assailants on one pensioner suggests Thais are getting braver.
  24. Agreed. I watch a TV channel showing UK police/police interceptors. At the end of each programme, the punishment is listed for crimes such as endangering lives by fleeing police at car speeds over 100 mph or dealing drugs. The fines are paltry and no kind of deterrent, whilst the hoops the police have to jump through to secure a conviction stacks the odds in the criminals' favour.
