  1. Incorrect. AAC requires a special plaster/render skim coat, that is true. However that skim coat is cheaper than the regular plaster/render so the cost is less. Also as AAC produces a much flatter surface than any other normal wall material so the thickness of render is less. So sorry but false. Not completely correct Every school supply shop has it (expanded, polystyrene) in 600 x 1200 panels, so it is that you are not asking the correct questions from the correct people A single skin of 750mm AAC does a very good job of heat insulation and noise reduction, add a cavity and second skin and the second skin, if on the inside doesn’t have to do much, it is probably going to allow the cavity temperature to rise quite a bit if the brick is on the outside but I don’t know if there is going to be a significant difference in performance either way. You are missing quite a few factors that have significant effects on noise reduction, density of material is just one of many factors The target price of AAC is ฿14.5 for a 7.5 block (pallet quantities), since CLC is a lower quality product (compressive strength, weight (heavier), side variation, and less good sound reduction you should be able to get them for less than that.
  2. To keep beating the horse. Incorrect for AIS there is International Roaming Service and International Call Service they are independent turn of international roaming and you can continue with international calls other providers may have different policies
  3. In general your number will still be OK for about 30 days but you will still lose any money still on the number if the number is completely inactive beyond that time. An AIS shop may be able to recover the money beyond that assuming you actually registered the phone with your ID However you can add ฿12 at a machine or ฿20 by bank transfer that extends the validity by 30 days. The maximum validity is 12 months so make 12 X ฿20 transactions and you have a year
  4. That is something that is neither standard nor recommended and is completely incorrect. The correct recommendation is to thin the first coat by about 50% if the render absorbs moisture from the paint makes zero difference to the lifespan of the paint. Your idea of putting a plastic skin first will block moisture from escaping from the substrate. House paint is not waterproof, it will shed liquid water but allow vapour to pass. So the plastic will allow the fabric of the walls to gain more and more moisture, as the humans and animals are transpiring litres of water vapour per day, that unless you are running AC to extract that, has to go into the fabric of the house and usually transpires through the largest surface (the walls) Just try living in a plastic bag if you don’t believe me. The rest of the post is certainly sensible.
  5. No, not really. The storage capacity of the battery certainly impacts the time available between charges. That the radios may require more power to contact the cell tower reduces the time available between charges. That (for example) the AIS cell tower has good strength while the DTAC tower is either in a poor location for you or is much farther away, will mean that if your AIS & DTAC numbers are active you will get worse battery life than if only the AIS number is active. However the fact that you have two active numbers by itself makes little difference.
  6. Any builder who is throwing up red flags with cavity walls is someone I don’t want working for me. None of those are any different between AAC (widely available and used) and CLC (never heard of it) As to wall anchors, they are both lightweight blocks so you need exactly the same anchors. For mortar AAC is very inexpensive due to using 3mm thickness. With plaster/render the AAC base coat is less expensive that the regular topcoat. Yes I have as have many others you can find my building story on the board designed for building and advice on cool Thai houses, the build has just under 400 posts.
  7. It is extremely unlikely to be an iPhone issue. It is almost certainly a location problem. If you are in a location where you get a strong signal your phone will use significantly less power than if your signal strength is low, then the phone has to use more power to boost the radio’s enough to contact the tower.
  8. That actually makes my point for me. Of the populated areas the percentage that ever go into single digits is tiny, and in general areas that do get the lower temperatures have lowish humidity in the houses when that temperature drops that low. So absolutely condensation is a possibility, however is unlikely to be significant enough, for enough time, for the vast majority to pay much attention to. FWIW our area may just possibly get down below 15C for a couple of hours a couple of times a year, and as you can see I’m reasonably far north.
  9. The reason that you haven’t anything about Condensation & gypsum ceilings is that there are very few occasions where condensation is a possibility and many people have either a radiation barrier or insulation on the roof, so making the numbers even smaller. There are certainly places, usually in the mountains, that have a suitable climate, but then few of them have ceilings and fewer use gypsum.
  10. Yes. It has my standard finish regimen. First I use a thinned shellac as a sanding sealer and to add a little gold/yellow tone as I prefer that to the more white of the natural wood, sand to knock down the nibs. I then put enough finish that it looks slightly white, that is a heavy coat and is only possible on horizontal surfaces. I repeat until I get the depth of finish I want. The RTB goes nicely over both shellac and acrylics, so far I haven’t found a finish that it is not compatible with. RTB has a shop on Lazada, the finish is not exactly inexpensive.
  11. Certainly some can and do but many, not so much. I’ve posted sufficient evidence Showing that my opinion is congruent with fact Humm, only a fool doesn’t ask questions when they don’t know the answers, but having said that I don’t remember the last time I asked for advice You have confused me for someone else
  12. Gas MIG you have very few choices at the lower end, as in under ฿15,000 possibly only 1 or 2 over 20,000 lots of choices, relatively that is. TIG is Virtually abundant often with MMA
  13. You are wrong I still get sms messages and receive calls. No Roaming; no sending SMS or making calls
  14. You misunderstood the meaning of roaming. it allows connecting to the overseas network for you to make calls on the overseas network and receive data on the overseas networks. Turn off roaming and you will still receive calls and SMS messages as normal, you will just not make calls using the Thai phone number or make SMS messages from the Thai phone number
  15. In fact I forgot that I have a hinge up shelf for ease of laundry access. It is virtually always hinged down, has nothing but a cat that sits on it, doesn’t get much use but is great when needed.
  16. It is totally dependent on the uses you have for it. If it is going to have things on it usually, then it’s not a good idea. If from time to time you want an extra surface that you know is going to be folded down usually, it is an excellent idea. I currently have two sets of folding/fold down brackets that are waiting for a good place to be used. Something like an ironing board is an extremely good use for this.
  17. Because I can do the job properly.
  18. Absolutely. The key words are moisture resistance not water proof. I can guarantee that unless totally protected from water the material will swell. It is probably ok in an environment that has occasional, or even frequent, high humidity. In water contact for anything but brief periods dried off immediately it will not function well. The benefits attributed are from the manufacture of the material not from the users
  19. Rubber wood which is the same as Boon Wood is an excellent material and is almost white, though there are more thicknesses than 16mm, I have 20mm & 25mm in my stash, there are also different grades, the lower ones have bark inclusions. Also most panels are finger jointed rather than but jointed
  20. That is only suitable if it is being painted and it can never get wet.
  21. It is very easy, depending on the equipment you have and the colour you want. the best way is to stain using shellac then polyurethane over the shellac you can get anywhere from a pale blond to a black. Here are a few of the colours available (that I like). There are 4 or 5 brands all slightly different. with shellac its alcohol soluble so you can dilute it if you want. It is my first finish often without colour. Then a water based shellac over this is the best polyurethane
  22. They are probably the largest conglomerate in the building trade, they certainly have exhibited in various trade shows, everyone carries their products. Since AFIK they only supply through retailers having their own stores would not be of much benefit, though they may have the odd one or two..
  23. Yes, though it isn’t that special, virtually every paint supply shop has it, you just need to read the label of ask.
