Trump Blames Zelensky’s Stance for Stalling Ukraine Peace Talks
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
What he conveniently omitted to mention was that was actually passed earlier and extended in July 2923. The full text of the link is here, and I have emboldened what I think are the relevant parts On Sunday, Zelenskyy stated that he would step down if it would secure peace for Ukraine, adding that he would also resign if it guaranteed the country’s NATO membership. However, the Ukrainian parliament emphasized on Tuesday that Zelenskyy was elected in a legitimate vote and remains the country’s lawful president. The body further confirmed that national elections will not be held until martial law is lifted following the establishment of a “comprehensive, fair, and sustainable peace.” Ukraine’s constitution prohibits the holding of elections during martial law, which was extended in July 2023, one year after Russia’s full-scale invasion. The resolution underlines that neither the Ukrainian people nor the Verkhovna Rada question Zelenskii’s legitimacy and states that, under the country’s constitution, he must remain in office until a new president is elected. A clever move which only works, if people accept his word and don't bother to open the link and read the full text. -

Because Trump/Vance/MAGA supporters will always deny/deflect and ridicule anything that Trump does not like or approve of. There are none so blind, as those who refuse see. -

Same old, same old lies and BS from Trump. Well the world did watch, and most of the world didn't believe that BS either. -
Trump Blames Zelensky’s Stance for Stalling Ukraine Peace Talks

Yet when the USA needed help other countries in the world stepped up to assist without hesitation, putting their own men and women, regardless of race colour or creed on the line to help. They were. and are, called allies. The fat, useless, orange blob is throwing all that away, stabbing allies in the back, tearing up treaties and treating old allies as enemies, and old enemies as "new" friends. The sad thing about all this, is that people like you are helping him and NOT helping the people of the USA who oppose him and all that he stands for. People like you have elected a convicted criminal, a sex offender and a serial liar into becoming POTUS, and yet you show no shame or remorse. -
Digital Doubts Cast Over Biden’s Easter Edited Family Portrait
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I see that the whiners and moaners are out in force again. What a pity that they didn't comment on Trump's Easter photograph. Then again, I haven't seen one so perhaps he couldn't be bothered to have one made. -

Report Thailand Declines US Loan Deal for F-16 Jets Over Tough Terms
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Perhaps the Thai government did its own research on the current US government and decided that the Gripen was cheaper to buy, cheaper to fly, cheaper to maintain and a better buy all around. Not to mention, that the current US government under Trump is far less trustworthy than the Swedish government. -
I fell in love with my Thai wife within a couple of months but it was 7 years before we married. I was working in Thailand during 1993 and 1994 to 1997, with a side trip to Indonesia in 1994. So I guess it was a couple of years. I got sent off to other countries in between jobs in Thailand and elsewhere, and it was a long distance affair for a while, though she did come to me for a month in Sri Lanka and also to France, Germany and the UK.

Microsoft Office has gone up up 25%! What alternatives are there?
billd766 replied to nglodnig's topic in IT and Computers
Not really. You can use the Open With function in MS and it works vert well. That is how I open any MS document into Libre Office. You can also save the document into MS by using the Save As function. -
To have "found myself" in Thailand, assumes that I had lost myself somewhere along the way. Not true in the slightest. What I did "find" in Thailand was my second wife and we will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary next week. She is the best thing I have ever found in my 80 year life.

I am slowly changing MS files to Libre Office as I come across them. MS sucks. -
Many years ago I rode my motorbike back from Mae Sot on the Mae Sot to Tak highway before they government improved it. I was going down the hills in 3rd gear with trucks and buses roaring past me, and all I could smell was burning asbestos from brake pads and brake linings. I was glad to get off that road and back on the AH 1/2 towards Kamphaeng Phet to get rid of the smell. Back then it was one of the worst roads in Thailand.

Of course, but old tried and true habits die hard. One truck I used to drive had no synchromesh, a 5 speed gearbox and a 2 speed rear axle. That WAS a bitch to drive and change gear, especially when it was fully loaded. I still find enjoyment in changing gear smoothly and quietly matching engine revs to road speed instead of just ramming the truck into gear and letting the clutch up, synchromesh or not.

White House Revamps COVID-19 Website to Promote Lab Leak Theory
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I wonder where the Trump supporters here on AN get all their information from? It certainly can't be from information freely available from the internet. They seem to live in a world of denial. -
One of the things that I was taught many years ago, when I used to drive a truck was changing down through the gear box when going down hills. This of course was back in the old days, when there was no power brakes or power steering. However, even nowadays in my 5 speed manual gearbox Ford Ranger pickup, I still double declutch and change gear. to slow down.

White House Revamps COVID-19 Website to Promote Lab Leak Theory
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Instead of promoting a theory, why not promote facts? Theories are simply opinions, and opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one, and they can be changed to suit the circumstances. Facts are what they are, and not subject to the political whims of the day. However facts can also be inconvenient, according to whoever is in power at the time. -
Trump has finally met his match as he fights 3 unwinnable wars
billd766 replied to simple1's topic in Political Soapbox
What a pity that you don't name and link your sources yo your posts. You seem to believe that people will accept your words as the truth. Personally I never accept the words of any Trump supporter. Their words are the same as Trump's, who is a confirmed serial liar. -
Can you please explain your conclusion that the PTP "stole" the election from the MFP. IIRC the MFP did not gain enough seats for a parliamentary majority, (neither did the PTP), but they were given the opportunity and the time to form a (coalition) government. After the time period was up and they still could not form a government, the opportunity was then passed to the party with the next highest number of seats, according to the law. The PTP could and did form a coalition government which is where Thailand is today. Should the coalition government break up, then a new election should be called and once again, the party with the largest number of seats will be called on to form a government. Also if a political party is dissolved. its MPs have 90 days to move to another party or they will lose their MP status.

The great thing about telling the truth is that you only need to remember one thing. The problem with telling lies, especially under the spotlight, is that you need to remember all the lies you told, who you told the lies to, where, when and about what. IMHO a pathological liar is a lot different. He just spouts any old lie, where, when and to whom doesn't matter, nor does he care about the results of his lies.

Woman Mauled by Pit Bull Cross She Adopted From Shelter
billd766 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Central Thailand News
Why don't you offer to adopt it, and take on all the responsibility for the animal, including all the costs of feeding it, looking after it, and when it savages another person, paying for ALL the damages and costs?
