I'm well aware of hypothermia, thank you. I was down there to know. I once thought I was going to die from the cold ( while dressed properly ), and climbed into the vehicle ( unheated- we didn't need heaters in vehicles, as not mummy's boys ) so they could find my body. Obviously I didn't, as still here. Not a happy experience. Every time I came in from outside I had so much ice ( from breath ) on my face I had to stick my head in a basin of water to get the balaclava off.

I'm sure that if Britain hadn't wasted all the money on bombs for Ukraine they could have afforded a lot of things, eg a backup for Heathrow that worked. The argument that Heathrow uses as much power as a city is IMO BS, and in the event, they are going to have to pay out more than a backup costs to compensate all the passengers.

Not only forced to drink his own piss but off the cell floor while shackled. He's claiming there wasn't even a tap for water to flush the toilet then? Sounds like he stole a car while under the influence of whatever drugs he was using, crashed it causing the injuries, and used the subsequent incarceration to avoid being called out for being a prat. If he was treated badly, likely because he was being insulting or generally annoying the Thais. While I wasn't there to know ( obviously ) sounds like just another numptie that bought a plane ticket to LOS and while there behaved badly. Some people should be banned from traveling for their own safety.

She better get used to it. Lots more Ukraine land going to Russia soon. The real question is if the entire war was worth it for Ukraine? Thousands of weeping widows and fatherless children, massive infrastructure destruction, while Russia gets the east and Crimea, which is what they wanted. Real life is a bitch, ain't it!

Updates and events in the War in Ukraine 2025

Zelensky must be livid, and surely feeling somewhat nervous as to what happens after Russia wins at the negotiating table. Had he negotiated at the start he'd have been in a much stronger position. -
Just thought about it, but how would they be rescued? If there is an air strip it would likely be blocked by snow drifts and too dangerous to land on, if by ship, the seas are dangerous in winter and the sea ice would be a problem in getting close enough. They might possibly evacuate and travel to another base, but in winter they might die anyway. No easy answers- welcome to the winter over from hell! I wonder what HQ back in Sth Africa is going to do about it. The ball is in their court now.

They didn't have to power the entire airport, only the control tower, runways and immigration, so that arrivals could continue. Who cares if duty free is open or not.

Thank you. I have no idea of the point he was trying to make, with that strange post. While I was serving during the Vietnam war I never got to see combat, as I was on my way when NZ pulled out. I spent 2 years in Singapore instead, so I probably had the better deal. Many NZ ex soldiers apparently still suffer from agent orange poisoning.

Have you ever actually taken an aggressive individual out? It's only in movies that would work. For starters, it's unlikely any of them know how to fight a guy that could thrash them, and without training they will have no chance of working as a team to take him out. That's only the first step- if they did manage to restrain him, what happens then? Short of termination or S A spending millions to rescue them, it's a puzzle for sure.
