Taliban suspend university education for women in Afghanistan
thaibeachlovers replied to Scott's topic in World News
Indeed, but watching is about as far as any influence an outside government has on the taliban, IMO. They can impose sanctions, which don't make any difference to the girls, but short of re invading, what else can they do, except watch? -
Taliban suspend university education for women in Afghanistan
thaibeachlovers replied to Scott's topic in World News
Given that there was IMO no real reason for the allied troops to be there once al qeda was destroyed there, it was IMO a waste of allied lives. Making it safe for Afghan girls to go to school is IMO not a valid reason for a single allied soldier to die. History tells us that it has never been a place for outsiders to succeed. -
While I was a fan of looking for an hotel/ resort to stay at when I arrived at the islands, I never tried at this time of year when full hotels could be expected. As for having to wait 2 days to catch a ferry, unless one had a confirmed hotel booking, would that not warn tourists that elsewhere might be a better option. It's not like there are not hundreds of other places to go.

Jeremy Clarkson says he is 'horrified' over Meghan column
thaibeachlovers replied to Scott's topic in World News
No idea why that is relevant. Only the British can make Jeremy toast. Do you not comprehend that "Every time they whine about the royals on US tv they lose British people's support" has nothing to do with American's opinion of the British royals? -
EU Nations agree price cap to shield consumers.

If Russia stops sending gas, are the other nations that will be expected to do so be agreeing to a low price for their gas? If not, Euro citizens can comfort themselves with good intentions as they pay large for gas next winter. -
Rwanda migrant plan is lawful, High Court rules

If that is true, then Britain needs to become more like France. -
Jeremy Clarkson says he is 'horrified' over Meghan column

Perhaps they knew what she was going to say about them. If anyone deserves throwing under the bus it's the whining couple for attacking their family in public. -

The idea that Clarkson is toast for mocking her is so silly that I had a good laugh over that one. Every time they whine about the royals on US tv they lose British people's support. -

People actually camped out to get a good view of the carriage after the wedding. The couple had all the good will of the British people to start with. That they lost it is down to them. -
IMO they don't "worship Trump" but he is the only one out there attacking Washington that can't be ignored. If they do, it's only in the same vein as some "worship" musicians or sportspeople. I think anti Trumpers don't have a clue how much hatred there is for Washington and the establishment in the areas that support Trump.

Could this corruption scandal signal the end of the EU ?
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Thank you. I knew a few Drs that were corrupt and grew very rich off the NHS but they were consultants. The average Dr is not corrupt IMO. I have zero respect for any of the hospital managers I served under- need I say more? -
"sources say" "Though the committee declined to identify the people" LOL, LOL, LOL. Sooooo, unidentified people claim something and certain people fall over themselves to believe this is factual. Hardly going to be submitted in a real law court, unlike the IMO biased cabal that is the committee. LOL, LOL, LOL. Perhaps leaked by the committee itself, or by the same people that made the anonymous claims.

thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I do not know of a single instance of corruption from the thousands of nurses and hospital staff I worked with. I don't speak for nurse/ hospital managers or doctors though. -
Dining carriages to return to Thai trains
thaibeachlovers replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
One always ate better food if one bought every meal from the station convenience store before boarding. I did like the big cups of OJ bought on the train though -
Dining carriages to return to Thai trains
thaibeachlovers replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
LOL. I always enjoyed the dining experience on the night train. Certainly beat the rubbish on UK Virgin trains ( prepackaged, overpriced sandwiches eaten at seat ). However, I wasn't fussy about hygiene, decor or even the food. I actually enjoyed almost all of my Thai train trips. -
I lived in a non tourist area of Lamphun and the karaoke bars that went on till late late were not for farang tourists. My wife took me to a Thai night club and I had to go outside because the band was so loud it made my head hurt. Those bands near you that you complain about are probably not for farangs or western tourists.

Yes, but the topic is passengers, which don't need a license. I never checked, but assume same as for the driver- helmet, legal m'bike, driver has license, not drunk, limit on m'bike cc.

The superhighways are OK, sure, but get off them and try to drive around - university area is insane. I hated driving a car in C M and refused in the end unless just going on superhighway to the north.

I lived there in 2018, and traffic insane, but it always was around the moat, even in 1974. C M problems are IMO because there is no planning by council, and council doesn't keep place clean, or carry out maintenance. They didn't even do anything for New Year like Pattaya did. Worst nightlife of a tourist place in LOS. Public transport is a bad joke with rip off red songtheaws. I stayed there because didn't want night life and it was cheaper than Pattaya.
