  1. That was decided long before the show. All they could do was still award it and perhaps take it away later.
  2. Subject of discussion on radio talkback today. Someone that played it in slow motion reckons it was faked. I watched the clip but not close enough to really tell. IMO had he been hit with the apparent force he'd have been down. I have no idea as to why it would be faked except it's Hollywood. Will doesn't come off well for the language he used afterwards.
  3. That's a bit simplistic and IMO there are a lot of factors at work. Too many trendy ideas implemented that didn't/ don't work Reluctance of males to be teachers for very good reason The no loser culture Bad teachers Woke policies PC policies Too much of allowing students to decide how/ what they want to learn. Bad parents Culture Etc. Apparently NZ has a high % of students that can barely read and write, yet teachers think they deserve higher pay!
  4. While I don't recall any fellow pupil dying from the institutional bullying at my private secondary school, if expulsion were the result all second, third, fourth and fifth years would have been gone. However my first year was the last in which it was permitted. Prefects were still allowed to beat juniors with a sand shoe, and I don't know when that ended.
  5. My comment was confined to having a non woke BBC that was trusted to be impartial on the news; a strong military, especially the navy, not the pale shadow of it's former glory; a strong manufacturing base instead of importing junk from China and cheap disposable clothing from sweatshops in Asia; and respect for the cops and incarceration for long periods of time for the bad people. I am well aware of Britain's history, especially with regard to Ireland to want a lot of it. I also don't care for the rotten class system. Britain used to make all it's own military gear, instead of importing it like the planes to put on it's 2 aircraft carriers. Sad days indeed.
  6. LOL. They used to stay in atap A frames and poop in a hole in the ground, but people wanted aircon, tv and hot water, so the A frames were replaced by concrete. Not going to happen in a major way IMO. However, there have always been those willing to pay for inferior places if they can feel good by doing so. I can't see the bar scene returning as it was, given the on line alternative for companions. Perhaps some thing like Hua Hin had.
  7. Disliked The Sopranos and never watched more than part of one episode. There are many decent shows that don't laud criminals to watch.
  8. Not if they know you died. Far as I know the accounts will be frozen till after the will is sorted.
  9. LOL. My fiance was lovely and a pleasure to be with. After we got married she changed to someone I didn't want to be with. I didn't "lose a little", I lost too much and ended up having to leave Thailand, when I had hoped to live there till I died ( of natural causes ). As for commitment; given a high divorce rate that's not a common characteristic of people IMO.
  10. I certainly hope you are correct on the 80ish. I've no desire to be condemned to a "rest home".
  11. and you do understand women? IMO marriage is an institution that benefits women, not men, and I scorn it absolutely. I just wish I had understood that before I got married and ruined my remaining life.
  12. 5555555555555555 You shouldn't make personal statements about people you don't know as it makes you look foolish. I got divorced in Thailand, and how many times is none of your business.
  13. No problems for me at all getting divorced in Lamphun amphur when got married in Pattaya amphur.
  14. That sort of thing is dealt with in the family court, not in the amphur. Amphur divorce is by consent and self arrangement.
  15. Unless it's changed since I got divorced that's wrong. Don't need a statement on property division and can do in a different amphur than where one was married. However, different amphurs probably do it differently so best to check at your local as to what they require.
  16. Recognized by whom? I used to love Hill Street Blues, but I tried to watch a repeat some time ago and wasn't interested. Many tv series are a product of their times, and only of their times.
  17. A characteristic shared by many politicians and businessmen in many countries.
  18. I live in a country with a government that didn't get a majority of the votes first time around. Is that "democratic"? We have that awful proportional voting system. Anyway, what constitutes "civilised"? Could be a lot of countries are not "civilised".
  19. I agree that the UK is <deleted>, but I worked there for 10 years and IMO entirely self inflicted by terrible politicians that allowed thugs to roam, and did nothing to preserve the British way of life. They even allowed the destruction of visual London with revolting monstrocities like the Shard thing. I went on a staff outing to beach towns such as Brighton, where cars have been allowed to destroy the ambience around the Palace, and another whose name I forget where a monstrous tower block and car park had been built right in the middle of the beach road which had become the haunt of druggies and criminals.
  20. We get that governments can do anything if they can "justify" it, including conscripting young men with long lives ahead of them to be killed in a war. Far as I'm concerned they got it wrong with lockdowns and business destroying mandates, and I guess there will be much discussion in the future about such.
  21. Someone has to pay for those arms shipments. Are you willing to pay increased taxes to pay for them, as I'm pretty sure Ukraine won't be?
