  1. I don't know why you quoted me then as I have zero problem with overstayers being deported, and I've never used a dodgy visa, and agents are legal, so long as they are not covering for people that don't qualify.
  2. It does make us angry though. Is that a good thing?
  3. Ah yes, the world is going to hell and a moon base at a cost of trillions of $ is just what we need. Party on.
  4. I must have missed that "age of enlightenment" then. Perhaps because I was too busy working to lay about using drugs and spreading STDs. Not that it did me any good in the end. After the women suckered me into a relationship it was they that got the benefit of my hard work, not myself. IMO marriage is a bad idea for men. I guess I'm one of your "bitter old men".
  5. I'd just use an agent. The one I used didn't charge anywhere near 15,000 baht.
  6. I also had an extremely rude female IO at Chiang Mai office that didn't know what a TM28 was and was so abusive I left without doing it. On the other hand I've had helpful female IO at Chiang Mai office ( not the same one ).
  7. I'd have been happy if they just kept having sex with me longer than needed to get married.
  8. Ever actually been to Pattaya? If that's your idea of Pattaya bar girls I think not.
  9. That's where I opened my account. Just walked in no hassle. However that was long ago. Just have to go and see now.
  10. I find it ironic that some posters appear to support easier immigration in the US while posting on a forum of a country that does not look favourably on those that attempt to enter without a legal permission to do so. Perhaps they want Thailand to be like the US?
  11. Bad news sells or gets clicks. Good news, not so much.
  12. Perhaps a relative has a palm tree business?
  13. That is what the good old days looked like.
  14. Agree. The days of a government that actually cares about citizens except at voting time are long gone, IMO.
  15. NZ is IMO a nanny state. He may not have realised that Thailand is not.
  16. Is that their idea of a joke? It'll only make pedestrians more at risk if they don't know that drivers don't stop for pedestrians on crossings. The only time crossings worked in Pattaya to my knowledge was the time a cop went out and stopped the traffic for me to cross. Even the traffic lights didn't work ( long ago now ), which is probably why they turned them off.
  17. If they could afford an agent they wouldn't be overstayers.
  18. What on earth are you on about? Many criminals are not sent to jail. Some are fined, but STILL CRIMINALS. https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/criminal Definitions of criminal noun someone who has committed a crime or has been legally convicted of a crime
  19. Quote from the linked article. The New Zealander had then opened the train door to snap some good shots of the scenery but in doing so somehow slipped and fell to the ground. So not the fault of Thai railways then.
  20. You make excellent points, especially about the electronic garbage young people like. I don't care that they play it for themselves, but they insist on playing it so loudly that an entire community are forced to listen to it against their will. Other things I don't like about the young generation in this brave new world of ours is that some have no respect for the cops, because they know the cops can't do anything about them other than taking them home to their uncaring parents after their most recent ram raiding escapade.
  21. A million for that class is normal. If one can't afford it they shouldn't be even thinking about marrying one of them. I suspect it's to get rid of the male gold diggers.
  22. Why? They are not your responsibility. If they choose to drink too much and die as a result that's on them. If it's a worry for anyone just don't have a party- problem solved.
  23. I wonder if anyone that actually gave the money to the parents asked for it to be returned when she turned out to be a dud and he wanted to give her back?
  24. Perhaps the only hope for the environment then is perpetual lockdown. I'm constantly amused that despite the claims of climate warriors in prior times, NONE have come out to say that the end of air travel for recreation/ meetings/ leisure/ holidays is a good thing.
