  1. No mention at all of the mother. Strange. Usually it's the father who is absent from the family.
  2. Among members of my family, my wife's friends and the few people I know it's close to 100%. My wife and I are almost the only people we know who haven't had it.
  3. My brother-in-law is a policeman. I asked my wife what he actually does and she has no idea.
  4. What have tourists got to do with soldiers fighting in Ukraine, apart from being born in the same country? What's the connection? Should citizens of a country be banned because their pretend-elected leader is a lunatic? Should Chinese tourists be banned because of their leader's human rights abuses? Same as Saudis?
  5. So people are finally getting the message that there are other places, more welcoming and less chaotic, than Thailand to visit. A 50% reduction of flights is quite an achievement. Well done, Thailand. BA no longer flying to the country, Emirates have reduced the number of flights. I haven't checked EVA recently, but didn't they reduce from daily to three flights a week?
  6. You're looking for logic, a futile exercise in Thailand. Why do they even want to roll back to 30 days? To what purpose? What benefit can that possibly give to the country. You're only welcome for 30 days, then p**s off.
  7. I raised this earlier but didn't know specific dates. Now I do. I have a marriage extension which must be renewed on 23rd November. However, I need to go to Dubai on 18th December, returning on the 25th. It appears that I would not be able to get a re-entry permit as my return to Thailand would almost certainly be beyond the under consideration date (23rd December?). The situation is further complicated by the fact that I may need to go back to Dubai in mid-February for around two weeks. If in November I applied for a 60 day extension to 'visit' my wife rather than apply for my annual extension, that would expire in mid-January, and my new application for a marriage extension would not be approved before mid-February when I might be away again. I will visit Kalasin IO to discuss, but would appreciate guidance from those in the know on this site first. Members might raise/be aware of answers that the officers might not, solutions which I could politely suggest to them. For example, might they agree to give my under consideration report-back date as 25th instead of 23rd December, allowing me to use that date for my re-entry permit. That to me would be the best solution - if they would agree to it. Another possible solution might be to enter on 25th December with no visa/extension and then apply at the end of 60 days (?) (or actually a little earlier in mid-February just before I go back to Dubai) for a new annual extension. I would be back at the beginning of March well before my under consideration date.
  8. It took me about 10 seconds to find this, so I have no idea what you're talking about: https://www.airasia.com/flights/search/?origin=KKC&destination=DMK&departDate=27/09/2022&tripType=O&adult=1&child=0&infant=0&locale=en-gb&currency=THB&airlineProfile=dotrez,kiwi,goquo&type=paired&cabinClass=economy&upsellWidget=true&uce=false I flew with AA recently and no Covid docs were needed. I'd avoid Nok Air at all costs. They often seem to cancel flights so i gave up on them. But if you want to try them as their website is a nice canary yellow, then go ahead.
  9. The cheese I used to buy went up from 150 to 209. The butter I used to buy went up from 99 to 149. When prices rise in Thailand they often do so by a massive amount, 50-100%. Potatoes from 28 to 46 a kilo, chicken carcasses for the dogs from 18 to 36 a kilo, all pork and chicken products in Lotus's have risen by a huge amount - that might be due to the fact that the company controls well over 90% of the market now after buying out Tesco, although over 90% is not seen as a monopoly by the Monopolies Office. So they can charge whatever they like. People have to eat and I'm not sure I'd trust what is laid out in the markets.
  10. Take the subway (responding to another of the posts you made in this thread.
  11. Try reading the linked report before posting. Then you won't look like an idiot.
  12. Yep. In Bangkok some show red lights and some show green lights. Both mean the taxi is available, but it doesn't mean the driver will take you where to go. Try explaining that to a tourist.
  13. It's the inability to join two dots - do the job they are there to do and people give them money. If they refuse they get no money. That is obviously too difficult for some drivers to understand.
  14. How does sending a photo of a registration number prove the driver refused a fare? More Thai 'logic' which makes no sense at all.
  15. And does this happen in other countries, I wonder? I've never experienced it. Not once.
  16. I needed to call the taxi complaint number on one occasion. They told me to call the tourist police. The tourist police told me to call the taxi complaint number. This is Thailand and it doesn't make the slightest difference what anyone says.
  17. That costs money so it isn't going to happen. Saving money trumps saving lives every time in Thailand.
  18. There were many, many comments on this in the original thread. Seems both are right as it depends on the dictionary used and, I think, whether you use UK or American English. My own view is that I agree with you.
  19. Wasn't the pound down to about 37 or 38 a year or two ago, maybe before Covid?
  20. You clearly mix with the wrong people, which isn't a great reflection on you. But it's okay - I'm sure you just made a flippant post and didn't really mean it ????
  21. In a similar vein, we spend much time worrying and thinking about things we have absolutely no control over, such as the exchange rate or the war in Ukraine. The Thais don't give a rat's fart as they know nothing they do or say will change anything. I see their point, but it isn't the way I'd like to live. It just isn't 'us'.
  22. Use Trivago to check hotel rates. I find that Agoda is often the cheapest anyway, but not always. I've booked through Agoda many dozens of times and never had a problem.
  23. I know, you know and everyone who reads this site regularly knows that there are many reports of foreigners and Thais 'falling' from roofs and balconies. That is why the term 'Pattaya Flying Club' is used. If you don't believe that is true, up to you. Why should I care what you think?
  24. Many Thais have very low IQ levels and minds like children. You can tell them anything and they'll believe it.
  25. In Thailand, they might attend but they'd be on their phones or asleep. Like when they attend for a driving license.
