  1. The current government and draconian LM laws , used to hammer down reasonable democratic opposition , have done more to undermine the popularity of the institution than any opposition party ever could . If the ' loyalists ' persist in trying to to turn back the clock to a more feudal past then it will definately end in grief for them. They can delay and drag their feet but change is bound to come. If Pita and Move foreward fail , then the Phoenix from their ashes will win the biggest landslide ever , should it ever again be put to the popular ballot.
  2. Life is short and precious. Suicide is stupid since you will die soon enough anyway. You need to try and be positive instead of surrendering to despair . Where there is life there is hope. I just watched a youtube video about a guy who has been homeless for 15 years. Rather than just sleeping rough he got himself a tent and hiking gear and walked the entire UK coastline, not once but twice !! Hell of an experience. Took odd jobs along the way to earn odd cash. Mostly wild camped. Now in his 60's but intelligent and interesting with a philosophical outlook. Not bitter or regretful. Always look on the bright side of life. Seems difficult but in the end everything in this life happens between the ears. In your mind. It all goes in in your mind.
  3. This is what I used until it was stolen. However , I still found that sometimes the nuts were almost impossible to remove due to being over tightened after tyre change. I now use the pathetic wheel brace supplied as standard ( but too short so no leverage ) to which I have added a 1 meter steel pipe over the end. This gives me all the torque to remove the most stubborn of nuts with ease.
  4. A useful thread on the topic by Charlie H
  5. Learn the power of indifference. Don't expect much from other humans and you will cease to feel disappointed.
  6. Looks like Putin had a singing fat lady conveniently on hand.
  7. A bit overpriced. Something more modest for the navy would be better for armoured troop transport
  8. Sounds more like ' toke and choke ' from the OP's description. Perhaps closing the window might help.
  9. Getting more serious. Who knows where this will lead. Wagner storms Rostov-on-Don and tanks set up blockade: Prigozhin vows to march on Moscow to take out 'evil' military top brass as Putin says he's inciting CIVIL WAR and Kremlin charges him with armed mutiny. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12228381/Wagner-mercenaries-killed-RUSSIAN-missile-strikes.html
  10. The poo has hit the fan : Wagner mercenaries march on Moscow to target 'evil' military top brass: Putin on alert as Prigozhin crosses into Russia saying 'we'll destroy anything, we'll go all the way' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12228381/Wagner-mercenaries-killed-RUSSIAN-missile-strikes.html
  11. Looks interesting :
  12. Last we heard , ' his residence ' was not actually his. After leaving the army he refused to vacate the army house he had been living in. https://prachataienglish.com/node/8942
  13. Rent out 9 rai and let someone else take the risk since this year is predicted to be very dry with insufficient rainfall. The remaining 1 rai you can experiment with. Don't assume that just because you are growing something you will easily harvest and sell your crop. It is a risky business .
  14. Good idea. How to you catch the moths ?
  15. In our old house I trapped 8 rats myself in heavy duty sprung traps. Almost instant death. Rats were active at night in the space above kitchen ceiling. When a trap was sprung there would be loud and noisy thrashing around for about 6 or seven seconds then silence. Made sure to retrieve the bodies next day for quick disposal with the rubbish. I would not recommend using poison at all. When the rats feel unwell they like to go to a dark inaccessible place to die. The resulting smell of the decomposing body is horrible and can last for several weeks until eaten by insects. Don't use the puny wooden traps....slow noisy death. The heavy duty metal once do the job properly but take great care when loading the trap if you want to keep your fingers. Use heavy duty gloves too.
  16. Oh no. Not at all. He is way way way beyond his superficial dork appearance. An intergalactic wally this bloke. Boldly going where no wally has gone before.
  17. The tourists in question were a Thai couple.
  18. That was Jack Golf. Quite a long time back though. The coffee shop was a air conditioned and a lot better than standing in a queue. Their service used a proper double decker coach with free coffee downstairs. This was at Ban Laem if I remember correctly. At Aran you went into the casino and had a complementary buffet lunch. Fell victim to a change in visa hopping rules.
  19. I also started getting arthritis in my fingers last year which meant I couldn't play the guitar properly as my left hand couldn't shape the chords. At it's worst in November when I did my last extension I couldn't even hold a pen properly to sign all the papers. I resolved I had to do something urgently. Searching the internet it seemed that introducing anti inflammatory foods into my diet might help. I was already drinking a hot ginger/honey/lime juice infusion every morning first thing ( ginger drink from markets stall. 6 bags a time which keep well in the fridge ) which helped a little. Next I started baking my own bread , 2 loaves at a time. In the bread I put 50 grams of black sesame , 50 grams of pumpkin kernels and 100 grams of ground flax seed. Makes tasty loaf with a lot of anti inflammatory ingredients . ( the pumpkin kernels also contain lots of zinc and magnesium , good for todger performance ) Swapped out orange juice for pineapple juice , also anti inflammatory https://www.marham.pk/healthblog/pineapple-benefits-for-men/ Take 2 turmeric capsules and 1 fish oil capsule every morning. Afternoons drink hot tea made of Roselle and honey. Anti inflammatory and helps lower BP https://rhymbahillstea.com/health-benefits-roselle No need to give up any favorite foods but have cut down on fried chips etc RESULT : Don't know which of the above has helped the most but certainly works. After 6 months everything back to normal function, especially my right thumb which was unbendable 6 months ago but now perfect. Reading the above it all sounds like a hassle if smoking a joint achieves the same. But perhaps the smoking just helps with the pain without actually putting right what is wrong plus as a bonus the bread tastes fantastic !! As an aside, if riding the bike any distance I put thick air con insulation foam around the handles to reduce vibration which as you say is very damaging.
  20. Where is your joint pain ? ( good pun not intended I'm sure )
  21. There is a difference between being ' addicted ' and ' dependent on ' The former is worse than the latter . Physical addiction leads to changes in the body that make it more difficult to quit since if you try the body will go into a bad craving mode that can be physically very unpleasant ( cold turkey ) A dependence is not so bad. If you are accustomed to a smoke every day then suddenly can't get hold of anything you might get very irritable and phone every smoking friend you have trying to score something but in my experience , no physical withdrawal or cold turkey. I was a regular smoker for 14 years but when I came here to live it was too risky and gave it up. I could start up again now but don't see the point any more. My life here is so unstressful I don't need any help getting through the day sane..
  22. I knew someone who managed to quit drinking by taking up cannabis instead. Being stoned reduced his desire to drink significantly until finally he was ok with just the weed. Of course , this resulted in a new kind of dependence but it was not nearly as bad as being alcoholic and at least when stoned he was still coherent and could function. A lot depends on the individual. If they are intelligent enough to recognize there is a serious problem and something needs to be done it might work. But if they are in denial , not much hope.
