  1. It's just a matter of simple dignity, what is a man if he gives up his dignity, and why pursue something that just isn't there? Why would you pursue a woman who doesn't want you? I think it really comes down to self-esteem, self love, self-respect and basic stuff like that, that a well developed man possesses.
  2. I think it is high time to withdraw all US support for Israel starting with dollar one. The Israelis have a lot of industry and a lot of wealth, let them fend for themselves for a while, then perhaps they can learn the definition of respect and gratitude.
  3. I think the parallel definition for outraged netizen is "I am somebody that does not have any sort of life whatsoever".
  4. I always thought the definition of a Peeping Tom was somebody who looked in a window or spied on someone with a video camera or something like. This guy was actually in the woman's room, on her bed touching her. That's a whole different matter and that's a whole different level of offense. Both are bad, but this is worse. Some punishment is justified for peeping on someone, a much higher level of punishment is justified for sneaking into someone's bedroom and fondling them.
  5. It would sure be nice if they had non-stops from Bangkok to Los Angeles, one would think that there might be enough demand. When I fly on EVA the flights are nearly always full.
  6. The court is essentially saying we do not believe that you are just window dressing, we do not believe that you are simply a puppet with a big smile, we actually believe that you are capable of action. Promises and declarations are not the same thing as action. Action is what real men undertake, action happens when people care enough to make things happen, and to punish the corporate interests that are causing the foul air with the sugar refineries. Sretta, is it possible that you're capable of some action? Don't talk, show us something, show us anything.
  7. Hello, do you know me? Have you been following my life? How do you know what criticisms have been leveled against me over the last 40 years or so? Just because you haven't seen specific criticisms on this thread does not mean you know anything about my life as an American Jew. I have consistently faced criticism for being judgmental towards really bad Israeli policy. There's very much a "you're either with us or you're against us" mentality, when it comes to the Jewish state. Please at least try to be more articulate and reasoned in your replies.
  8. Incorrect, I've never advocated against the right for Israel to exist, I have no problem with the Israeli people. I've long had problems with Israeli government policy and recently it's more extremist than it's ever been. However, unlike what you state there is a high level of criticism towards anyone who expresses criticism of Israeli government policy, the prosecution of this war against the Gazans, the methods used, and things of that nature.
  9. I would have to consider that to be a rather simplistic reply from someone who's usually quite articulate. There's a big difference between showing support for the Palestinian people in opposition to the lack of proportionality of the Israeli response, and showing direct support for Hamas, unless you subscribe to a Bush Jr. philosophy of "there is no gray you're either with us or you're against us".
  10. As an American, with the exception of shows like PowerBook where guys have nearly unintelligible New York accents, I find the Brits, the Scots, and the Irish to be the most difficult to understand. I usually do use subtitles as I find a lot of what they're saying to be just noise.
  11. What real men do when a relationship has failed and they've done what they could do to save it, is they walk away holding their head high with dignity. I'm just going to get on with my life and meet somebody new. What a 13 year old, who look like an adult does, is cling onto a car for 15 km out of some form of jealous insanity. What a goon, what a half man, what a pathetic lack of tribute to our gender.
  12. Look I'm the least PC guy you're ever going to meet, but where does that kind of thing lead? Caning in the street, amputation of the hands for theft, how strict do you want to go? One of the things that many of us love about Thailand is the fact that it is not a police state, and I think it's a tribute to most Thai people that there isn't more mischief and crime. I think it's a testament to their nature.
  13. I totally agree those are all very relevant points to be taken into consideration. I think the debt maybe the largest threat. Lister mentions the debt at 34 trillion for the US, but that's official and fictitious. Anybody with a good memory will recall that Cheney had Congress pass a resolution that allowed the entire Iraqi and Afghani campaign to be conducted off the books and that's likely at least an additional 10 trillion dollars in debt. Who knows how much other debt is hidden, I think it's probably closer to 47 trillion. Then there's the possibility of a major correction, many of us think the stock markets are grossly overvalued, many of us think real estate is grossly overvalued, and there are a lot of variables that could cause a major correction to happen. Once it starts can it be stopped? I don't know the time frame but I see the Dow dropping to as low as 3,500 perhaps within the next few years.
  14. If anybody tries this could you please let us know if you got any results from the device? I have had severe tinnitus for over 10 years now, it's non-stop, I would say the volume is about 9 out of 10, and I've tried countless therapies. Herbs, acupuncture, chiropractic, and other potential remedies, nothing has worked. Even if I could find something that would reduce the volume that would be a huge relief. Tinnitus is not something I would wish upon my worst enemy. Be very careful around very loud noise such as ambulances, and especially very loud bars, clubs, movie theatres, or concerts. Many rock stars have warned against the potential dangers of permanent tinnitus from very loud environments. I always carry ear plugs with me at this point as I'm fearful of the volume becoming even louder.
  15. Okay I think the people should let the Army rule the country forever, it's just easier. Right?
  16. Of course, but you can just as easily do it within the office as the vast majority of the immigration agents are crooked and it's easier and very official.
  17. Cash is king, I love to carry a big wad of cash in my pocket and have done so for decades, that is not going to change. Cashless is silliness and using your card to pay for a cup of coffee is the very definition of a wimp. Rarely does a day go by that I'm standing at a register waiting to pay for something with cash, and somebody is in front of me fumbling with their phone for 4 minutes, to try to pay for 20 baht item. Sometimes I just pull out 20 baht and hand it to them and say here here, please just pay and leave already.
  18. When I lived on Samui years ago I had a house on the side of the hill across the bay from The Ark Bar. They were such an incredible nuisance with huge speakers facing out towards the sea and the volume turned up so loud that my sliding glass doors would shake for hours and hours during the evening. The authorities never had any interest in addressing it. It was horrendous.
  19. Sounds like you need a good home theater, and if you already have one sounds like you should have spent more than a thousand baht on your center speaker, which is critical to hear clear vocals. I can hear what they're saying very clearly, but I did spend quite a bit of money on my home theater.
  20. Granted these guys do seem like losers for causing this incident to begin with, but arresting them seems like just a bit of an overreaction. Perhaps the police coming and escorting them away and making them pay a small fine? But arrest for an argument over beach chairs? Really? This is more great publicity for the RTP and Thai tourism.
  21. No I certainly don't make much of a big deal about it anymore, dinner with the woman, and then back watching a movie is a very pleasant evening for me. It used to be a big deal but that was a long time ago. Heard a great quote about age recently: 30s is too soon. Dying in your 30's is tragic. As is the 40s Sympathy dissapates from there. 50s is such a shame 60s is too soon 70s a good run 80s a life well lived 90s - a f***ing hell of a ride
  22. There really is no logical reason that one can come up with to defend Hamas. They are a terrorist organization after all and they do engage in terror. I was not referring to the defense of Hamas. I was referring to the criticism of Israel and believe me as an American Jew I take a lot of flack for criticizing Israeli government policy, and that goes back 40 years, and that's a fact. The Israeli lobby, the Israeli government, and many Jews and Christians are highly intolerant of any criticism of Israel. Any. Period.
  23. I'm sure the world leaders were lining up to see what the $800 million smile was all about.
