First they were closed entirely. Which cost alot of jobs and led to alot of business closures. Bars, clubs and even restaurants. Couldn't even serve beer. Five star hotels could not serve booze. Now? It would appear that desperation is setting in. Good. The goons need to start behaving themselves, living without a state of panic, and allowing the people to make a living.

New seat belt rules to apply from September
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And it is likely her parents understand they are actually parents and make the rules. It all comes down to enforcement. Of course kids do not want to use the seat. So what? Use the seat or stay home. -
New seat belt rules to apply from September
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
We bought a nice, expensive car seat for our niece. She kept telling her parents she didn't want to sit in it. So, what happened? They gave in. She rides everywhere without a seat belt. So what happens in the event of an accident to a 3 year old without any restraint? So, I ask again, who is the parent, and who is the child? Who puts food on the table? -
90 days report online - a sad experience
spidermike007 replied to Lorry's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It has never, ever worked for me. Tried it many times over the last few years. Very sad indeed. Such a simple thing, yet they cannot get it right. Who do they get to design their sites? -
Thailand’s Awkward Pursuit of American F-35As
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They will never get these jets. The Americans will not approve the sale. Cha Cha cannot be trusted. He will share the technology with China. Easily. Willingly. To curry favor with the CCP. Not gonna happen. Which is good. Thailand needs those jets like an Inuit needs an icebox. Thailand needs those jets like Anutin needs more cash. Thailand needs those jets like Prayuth needs more time in office. -
If there is one aspect of the RTP that remains consistent, it is their extreme level of indifference, when it comes to anything traffic safety related. Same applies to the highway patrol. The carnage will continue unabated. When is the last time you saw a maniac pulled over for reckless driving by the infamous "highway patrol"?

PM to Discuss Economic Crisis with High-Level Officials
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There is an economic crisis. And covid cannot be blamed for everything. Neither can Ukraine. Perhaps you guys can take some of the blame? The extent of your economic sabotage is mind boggling. Call it the Prayuth Fiasco. Economies all over the world are doing well. And here? -
It appears they have all had a taste of the power and likely fortune that comes with that power. They do not seem inclined to surrender it. Which means they somehow need to be ousted. One way or another. Get out. You are not liked, you are not doing anything, and you are despised like never before. Get out now.

They are likely good, decent folks, working hard running this place. Bad fortune. They likely did not know about the materials they were using for soundproofing being so flammable. It is up to the authorities to inspect and make sure public venues are safe. So, who really dropped the ball here? Alot of mixed messages about the exits being locked. If so, that is a big issue. But, does anyone really know for sure? Was the pub illegal? Again, why were they allowed to operate? Don't the authorities bear any of the responsibility for this?

This administration likes to drone on and on about what they are doing for the people. A good place to start would be the submarines. Give them up. What are you going to do with them anyway? Who will pilot them? No subs for 60 years, and all of a sudden you have the expertise to pilot and maintain them? Hello. Show the people you care. 22 billion is the official number. But, since the first one is already up to 13 billion, the numbers simply do not add up. As usual. Do you care one iota about the people? Just be honest, for once, and admit that you don't.

How do you cope with skyrocketing premiums from health insurers?
spidermike007 replied to DUS's topic in Health and Medicine
By self insuring. I left them behind a long time ago. Got sick of 20% annual premium hikes without a single claim. It is a mafia. Have saved millions of baht ever since. -
Doesn’t the TAT want tourists here in Thailand?
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Prayuth, Anutin and Prawit are leaving quite a legacy behind. Seems "anything for money and power" is their motto. It really does not affect most of us very much, but woe are the vast majority of Thai people. -

Thai Officials to Discuss Rail Development With Laos
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It is beyond rational, that Thailand has not done this already. For the movement of cargo, if nothing else. The highways are clogged with trucks of all sizes, due to a lack of planning. And the trains here are quite an embarrassment. Even if you decide to travel by train here on the antique cars, you have to deal with consistent delays of 30 minutes to 3 hours. I gave up using them. The rail projects should be accelerated. Thailand is 40-50 years behind the curve, when it comes to public transportation, with the exception of Bangkok. The railway here is sickening. I recently tried public transportation, from Hua Hin to Samui. Took a 5 hour express train from HH to Surat. All good. Except the train was 3.5 hours late between a 2.5 hour delay in arriving, and an additional hour added, on the way. Unacceptable. Then I took a VIP bus back from Samui. Left the pier at 6:45pm. Arrived in HH at 4:00am. Even at 11pm, the traffic was a parking lot, due to the main north south artery for the nation, reduced to one lane, due to road construction. One hour spent going 5 kph. Unacceptable. Thailand desperately needs high speed rail, for people and cargo. The lack of planning is an abomination. -

With Cha Cha moving the nation backwards, we seem to be moving in the opposite direction of progressive and innovative. Regressive, is more like it. As much as the sabateurs talk about wanting the tourists back, they are not offering much in the way of concessions or sacrifices to get them. Tourism will never be the same again here. My heart goes out to those dependent on the industry.- 172 replies

POLITICS Trump says FBI raiding his Mar-a-Lago home
spidermike007 replied to Scott's topic in World News
That alone is worth it. As poorly as Biden has performed, one more Trump term and we could be facing a civil war. -
My friends and I have met dozens FROM Issan. It is a very fertile spawning ground for the industry here.

You are likely correct. I doubt they would seek jail time for an ex prez. It would be precedent setting, and it would be absolutely lovely to see. But, I doubt it will happen. Unfortunately. -
I have friends who are very assertive, they step up to the plate often, all over Thailand, and you would be amazed how high their batting averages are. Only the pros, or freelancers tend to show outward interest.

Prayut Shrugs Off Pressure To Step Down After Eight Years In Power
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You don't get to become a four star general unless you're smart and capable of getting things done. Many of us would disagree, wholeheartedly. There are 2,200 generals in Thailand. Do you really think all are smart and capable? There are countless areas where Prayuth has failed, as a leader. He is moving the country backwards, at an alarming pace. Thanathorn, or a similarly smart and progressive candidate would and could do far better. Accepting the status quo, just because it is there, when he is regressive, oppressive and incapable, is not a good idea. -

"Patriot funds for the master promoter". You don't know where they are going, or how the money is going to be used, but trust him. For a self proclaimed multi billionaire, he sure seems unable or reluctant to use his own funds for anything political. Does self entitled come to mind?
