  1. Just came to say, after the initial disappointment of an absent “Armand” hotel manager character, I really enjoyed the second series of the white lotus, a couple of twists in last episode and yesss! It’s been signed for a third series. I just started a Belgian series Fils De which came recommended, was quite hard to find due to the naming. Seems to get mixed reviews - but fills the gap for a running gritty Euro gangster series. I think the last good crime series I caught was S02 of Snabba Cash or gangs of London.
  2. I’m in no way experienced - but Neem worked for me this past year. I started growing leafy veg and immediately attracted a swarm of butterflies, have started drawing up plans and costing for a mesh greenhouse.
  3. This morning the wife found a radio tower with metal ropes terminating in the ground. The front wheel arch received a bit of scratching as she rubbed up against the steel rope. Not the end of the world, but the truck is only 8 months old so we will look to get it repaired. Insurance is “standard” Toyota insurance that came with the car. If it was back in the UK, I think I would probably pay for it out of my pocket, fearing a loss of no claims bonus, saving very little after the excess, etc. Has anyone had a similar experience, I know a lot is dependent on the policy and the quote, but what’s the general rule of thumb for minor damage? Use the policy or pay out of pocket? Is the NCB worth even worrying about? I’m not even sure if she should have come home. Are you supposed to call the insurance man on site?
  4. I had a similar experience with my visa - long story - I wasted a couple of hours while the manager (who wouldn’t believe my and the helplines explanation of the yearly extension stamp) tried to call immigration, who wouldn’t pick up the phone. She told me, even tho I had 5-6 concurrent and valid extension stamps, that I should go to Laos to get another visa because mine was out of date. ???? I don’t have any issues with these guys checking my visa status. These bank managers / supervisors have so many beanos and training seminars, what’s the harm in immigration coming to one of them and just giving them a run down for an hour, explaining the procedure.
  5. I thought it was a given that the flat rolled out crispy squid was prepared in formalin? I was to told years ago. Not that it appeals, it smells like a rotten hookers knickers.
  6. If the OP uses Google, he will find a couple of agencies in Phuket and Chiang Mai that I found without any problem which advertise themselves as language schools, they clearly state on their website that there is no need to attend class. Unbelievable really. (well, it’s totally believable but ..) - These places operate with impunity, I don’t think he needs to worry at all about a surprise visit.
  7. Surprisingly, there’s one Indian roti seller at the 7-11 in rural Khon Kaen, we are about 30km from town, he’s been there, every night for a year already. I really don’t think the average Thai knows enough about immigration law or work permits to report him, tbh, the nearest police box is 10km down the road and there is one high ranking guy who lives in the village, that probably just wants an easy life. It probably doesn’t dawn on them that he’s illegal, besides if he wasn’t there there would be no roti and that would be a major loss to the community. People ask why do I not help my wife with her business, when she is lugging boxes about moaning, and it surprises them when I tell them the conditions of my visa.
  8. I’m surprised how many Indians and Burmese work out in the villages - Indians are money lenders (idk, maybr have some kind of residence) or have a Roti cart outside 7-11s You see posts here about westerners scared to cut their own grass, if you look closely there are Burmese that have stalls at the travelling markets in Issan. I don’t know how you can get a work permit to sell coconuts on the side of the road, but my Burmese buddy does it.
  9. Anything regarding LED .. https://btf-lighting.aliexpress.com/store/1051119 Are you using WLED to control?
  10. Actually, I have been surprised how wages have risen recently. My friends tell me that they are working agency jobs for around 40K, some are non-degree holders and have been avoiding the teachers permit waiver. I still don't think it's enough to compete with inflation, and the added complications from kurusapa. I don't think its enough to encourage me to return. I see a rise in NNES positions available on fb at still horrendously low figures, and university gigs have always been low paid but with free accommodation and a very light work schedule.
  11. Good call - Smile was a good view.
  12. There are a few ways, as mentioned. Yes, you can download the VPNs helper app onto your smart TV, then turn it on and off as required. This is the simplest method. I have a firestick, with surfshark VPN helper app to watch iPlayer - it automatically connects to the UK server on startup. You could do this for the states, either automatically or manually. I run another VPN on my computer, which I manually switch on and off as required.
  13. JTS: If the seller is decent guy, there is nothing wrong with going to the sellers DLT with the bikes and getting them to help you to complete the papers, checking all the tax is up to date - getting the sellers DLT to phone ahead to your DLT to make sure everything is ready. I did this the first time, because the guy hadn't paid the tax for 2 years. When I sold the bikes, I had just had enough of the whole process. Multiple people offering me half of the already decent price I posted online and this guy, wanting extra bits for free, pressured me into selling my second bike as a package, which I had no intention of at the start. I couldn't be bothered to be nice about it.
  14. I just sold a couple of bikes, Im in Khon Kaen, the buyer, a a Thai in Udon. I went to my local DLT - grabbed the forms, one (set) for each bike, completed and signed, and handed them over to the seller. You may need a certificate of residence from the seller but I didn't bother - I copied my passport data page, visa stamp, entry stamp and told him to come back if there was any issue. He didnt come back (It is all dependent on the province to wether or not one is required) I bought one of the bikes from Roi-Et, 7 years prior. I bought from a Westerner, but the bike was registered in his wifes name, she copied her ID card and supplied the forms, as above. You will need to take the bike to your DLT and check everything, it will cost a little more as you will need to register it in your province and get a new plate.
  15. Looks like both those borders are making life difficult at the moment. It may be worth a look at Sadao, or Nathawi.
  16. Just came to say .. f’d up. Just started on this .. maybe interesting, Channel 5 seem to produce some good dramas these days.
  17. This is not exclusive to Pattaya, I have also had a similar experience with a knife sharpening guy.
  18. If it were some girl selling beer without a license on the street I don’t think it would have got as far as the police, would it?
  19. There’s something that doesn’t add up - I can’t see any of the bars allowing anyone to sell beer (how much money can you make from a cool box of beers before you get a slap?) in the middle of the street. This has to be some promotion girl who has taken the initiative of standing behind a box at the entrance to a bar or something. Anyway, what do I know or care?
  20. Or when you driving while disqualified, points deducted from the next license when the license is returned. I can see this being abused by the Bib - like the cost of the fine is multiplied by the number of points you have accumulated - when you get caught with breaking the law with 9 points under your belt, they get the double bubble Brucie bonus. You can just imagine the reaction from behind the mask and sunglasses .. “mmmm, what do points make? Points make prizes!”
  21. This is really well done, thanks for posting. An interesting 30 mins. There was a 5 min segment on Vice News last week on the koh-i-noor
  22. Ok - presumed you were using a windows machine or a android box. I too have a Mac, so can replicate - I just downloaded their app from the App Store, even tho the assistant app said I had an overseas ip, at first it wasn’t masking my IP at all and I was getting a geolock from iplayer. I went to settings, VPN > Protocol - I changed it from UDP to TCP, I couldn’t even access the site. Back to UDP, reconnecting to the VPN, opening and closing Firefox > I got the same error as you. I turned on clearweb toggle in VPN preferences and set it to wireguard, rebooted the computer and it connected first attempt. I think I was using the Glasgow server. I started watching, no problems - then after a while the player started jumping between streams, 720 > SD > low res .. When I connect with my Amazon fireTV, there is never a problem, but I can see it jumping between streams. It will work, but it’s a ballache on a Mac - I don’t think I would bother. PIA is a little more expensive, but has a dedicated video streaming server and just works on the mac, no need to reboot. The worst thing I need to do is close Firefox and sometimes change protocol back and forth.
  23. Interesting .. “Coffee drinkers do seem to live longer and have lower cancer rates overall, but coffee may worsen acid reflux disease, bone loss, glaucoma, and urinary incontinence. The bottom line is that I don’t recommend drinking coffee, but mainly because every cup of coffee is a lost opportunity to drink something even more healthful, such as a cup of green tea, which wouldn’t have the adverse cholesterol consequences.”
  24. No need to change time - you are using a computer? So, you are using their app to connect? Install Firefox (although brave probably has this function) - go to settings / preferences and set to “erase cookies on close” (I forget the actual term) - close the app. (This is why I use Firefox exclusively for TV, then I don’t lose all my cookies with saved logins) Open your browser and log in to iplayer. Let me know if it doesn’t work.
  25. There is nothing wrong with using surfshark to access iplayer - If you want some help, then post some info, how are you using it? what device? Some settings? .. I have no issues using surfshark + surfshark VPN app on my fireTV stick - its cheap and easy. Only when I look at the video streams on my computer and comparing them to other servers do I notice surfsharks weaknesses, but it should work.
