  1. Yes quite true, I had forgotten about that. Its been a long time since I used that service, but a few of the banks either wouldn't or couldn't. I used to use SCB for quite some time and then for no reason they refused.
  2. As far as I know, neither does Halifax. Nationwide Charge is £20 and Halifax is £9.50.
  3. Since when did Revolut cards only work in ATM's? I use mine as a normal debit card for many kinds of transaction where the VISA sign is displayed. If you open a THB A/C on the card its simplicity personified. Just state to pay with THB.
  4. I use KrungThai and Kasikorn banks. As to a favourite bank, I haven't found one that gives money away as yet????
  5. It would be nice to know who trained the trainers, and how the initial trainers were trained? Large brown envelopes perhaps?
  6. They will have get in line, all the illegals arriving in boats will be a problem for the next few years.
  7. "If you used an agent to get your extension, check to see if it was issued in Khon Kaen. If it was, better to get it fixed before being deported"...... Why would you say that? Are you just trying to cause problems, or have you just found a new big wooden spoon?
  8. I also haven't been to Phuket for many years and I believe you are correct about the evening restriction. As I remember it was closed to traffic from 4pm until sometime early morning.
  9. Not possible. The British Embassy in Bangkok will have been informed of the death who in turn inform the DWP in the UK.
  10. Only thing I can answer to that is, My UK will was witnessed by two English people living in Thailand, one is a business owner the other a teacher, who is now unfortunately dead. However, the will was at the time received by the solicitor in the UK and I have to assume that is OK. If you use a Thai as a witness, I would make sure they have good standing in the community, such as your lawyer or similar, with proof of said standing.
  11. Thanks Dirk. All useful information, much appreciated.
  12. Thank you Ray. They have indeed accepted documents from me previously. However, this is for the executor of my UK Will and having spoken to the UK bank they will only accept a certified translation.
  13. Thanks for the replies, most grateful.
  14. Not required for a long time yet I hope, but how does one acquire a translated and certified copy of a death certificate. Morbid subject I know, but I want to get all ducks in row when the time does arrive so the family can do all necessary with as little difficulty as possible. Thanks in advance.
  15. Good point. Also, why was he not carrying the copy of the M/C rental details? It would have details of name, hotel and passport No. That has been my experience when hiring vehicles here in the past. But!
  16. If as is stated, he had no ID, which embassy do the police go to?
  17. Pre-planned? When did that change come about?
  18. Hep. and they can all walk upright under it belly with their top hats on, and the snake never noticed.
  19. In Thailand? Oh! Come on. The driver going the wrong way on a one way street and the police didn't stop him. He was walking.
  20. It used to be like that where I come from, but I don't come from there any more.
  21. Can you be sure that regulating the transport system would make any difference?
  22. All so true. The thing which annoys me more, is the change from any purchase is always handed to my wife or the Thai person I am with.
  23. Is this so a meeting can be called to discuss the minute of the last meeting and then schedule the next meeting, add infinitum. How much to join this committee and what are the monthly fees?????
