Looking to buy a new SUV - any recommendations?
josephbloggs replied to fezza's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
You are posting out of ignorance. Telling someone to "stay away from EVs" when you have no experience of them and they might suit him, or maybe they don't, but that's up to him. Then posting rubbish about it being worth half the price of a Toyota. If someone comes for advice and you post nonsense it is not helping him is it. It is the worst thing about this forum, the same people always need to ruin good helpful threads. We know you hate EVs based on no logic, experience or reason. We get it, that's fine. We all know already. I like ICEVs too, I love engines. I also like tech and efficiency and I have an open mind, unlike you. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. Just don't pollute every single thread with your uninformed blinkered nonsense. -

How am I an EV brigade when I don't own an EV? I own two petrol cars - not even hybrids. -

Well done for trying it. But why a Tesla Model 3? Not an EV I would consider as I find it ugly, but it's still a decent car. I hated one pedal driving the first time I tried it and turned it off. If was only when someone explained to me how to use it properly that I gave it another go and ended up loving it. -
Mass Arrests Follow Violent Far-Right Demonstrations Across the UK

Not sure that has anything to do with anything. He isn't being released to make room for a rioter as you ridiculously suggested. Full jails are a problem because of........which government? Agree in this case it doesn't look good that he is serving such a short time, but he wasn't the killer - the killer is still in jail and will be for a long time. Natty supplied the weapon that was used, he didn't use it and didn't inflict the fatal wound. I don't know enough about the rest of the case to pass judgement. -
Eh, what are you talking about? I said I am against protectionism. Placing a tariff on imports is protectionism, rewarding inefficiency and forcing the consumer to buy inferior products or pay more than they should for better ones. And I am as far removed from being a Trump supporter as it is possible to be. Got it now, or do you want to ask me the same question a third time?

Looking to buy a new SUV - any recommendations?
josephbloggs replied to fezza's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
You and @Yellowtail really need to get over yourselves, put your MAGA hats down and chill. It is a thread asking for personal experiences and recommendations for a car. People who own cars are giving their thoughts, EV or non EV (and EV owners have suggested, shock horror, non EV cars as well as EVs). That's it. Like I said, pipe down and let people share as it is all useful info for the OP, you are not the arbiter of what experiences should be shared. -

What's your problem with people posting suggestions? Am I the Volvo brigade? The Fortuner brigade also chipped in, and I think the Isuzu brigade also posted. Why call them a brigade when they are just owners sharing their personal experiences? It is all food for thought which is what the OP came here for, right? The OP is coming here from (I assume) "The West" which doesn't have the extensive and cheap selection of EVs that we are lucky to have here. I assume it is useful for him to hear about them and what the experience is like of owning them as it is very very different from the UK, for example. I am also sure that all of the "brigade" have posted more than once that EVs are not for everyone and don't work for certain lifestyles. Why limit what the OP can read? I don't own an EV but the anti-EV brigade is very very tiresome, much more so than the EV owners sharing their experiences. I have learnt a lot from reading their posts, but you need to have an open mind, so that is probably why you are so dismissive. If the OP states categorically that an EV doesn't match his requirements then fair enough, but until then let everyone chip in, you might learn something too. Edit: one of the "brigade" suggested a Ford or Mitsubishi - neither of which are EVs. And another member of the "brigade" suggested a Haval which is a PHEV, not an EV. Basically you are ridiculous so pipe down and let people share their recommendations as the OP asked. -

Yeah, they are expensive new (makes me feel a bit sick how much I paid for mine four years ago compared to what I could get for the same money today - Chinese EV), but there are some good second hand deals, worth a look anyway. -

One more point is that if buying second hand only buy certified from the manufacturer. Too many dodgy second hand car sellers in Thailand and you don't know what you are getting. I bought a second hand car once many many years ago and have only bought new since. But back then you couldn't buy certified second hand, now you can. Volvo Selekt. Toyota Sure Honda Certified BMW Premium etc etc -

The Fortuner is horrible, just a pick up truck with a lid and some seats. Nasty vehicle, and normally driven by nasty people - my personal opinion is that Fortuner drivers are the worst, most aggressive drivers on the road. My friend has a last generation 5-cylinder Everest and I have borrowed it a few times - nasty, smelly, noisy, rattly. Another friend has the latest V6 Everest and it is miles better, it is quieter, better specced and is a much nicer place to sit - the interior is quite nice. However, compared to my XC40 it is still nasty, noisy, rattly, albeit much improved over the previous gen. To the OP, absolutely DO NOT put a deposit down on a second hand car before you have viewed and driven it. There is so much choice just wait until you get here. Personally I would go EV but as you mention you will do long drives regularly maybe an EV is not right for you, but still worth considering as they are much better value for money. Phuket is good for a diesel SUV I guess although I personally loathe diesels. An Everest might be worth looking at, much better than a Fortuner, and infinitely better than a Pajero. Why not consider a Volvo? You can buy second hand direct from them, comes with a warranty etc. XC90, four years old, 321 bhp, 50k kms, great spec, and a nice petrol turbo engine, and it is HUGE. 1.89m baht. Quiet, refined, fun, and a great interior spec. They also have a low mileage (30k kms) XC40 which is a brilliant car (I am biased), although it seems expensive to me, you could get a brand new car for the same price. Anyway have a look, if you don't want EV go for petrol, who wants a smelly rattly diesel? https://selekt.volvocars.co.th/en/home?sort=price:ASC&langChanged=1 -
Mass Arrests Follow Violent Far-Right Demonstrations Across the UK

Yes, thanks for repeating it. Where is the evidence that they released murderers to make space for rioters as James105 claimed? Such a heavy claim must have something to back it up, so I am eagerly awaiting it. -
Seriously? You would rather pay more for poorly made American goods because your unionised workforce is uncompetitive? Go you, yay!! I thought the USA was all about capitalism, no? Let the market decide. Personally I would rather get value for money and I don't care where it comes from. Why do you want to pay more for American goods? Weird.

Please share your evidence that they have released killers to make space for rioters. It is absolute nonsense. And what is your problem with harsh punishments for people who violently attacked police, burnt and looted businesses, set fire to a hotel with the goal of killing the migrants inside, and pulled a driver out of his car and attacked him with a metal pole with the sole "justification" being he was Romanian? What is your issue with that? Can you explain please? Mindless morons, dangerous hooligans, lock the scum up. If you disagree I want to hear why. No deflection, no "this or that is worse", why shouldn't they be jailed? -

I found his video quite difficult to watch - he's not very engaging. But I think it's fair to say we are at the beginning of a Kodak or Nokia point in history with the Japanese marques. Refusing to acknowledge a change in technology, refusing to adapt, hoping it goes away. -

Just saw my first Cyberster on the road. Not the greatest pic as there was someone in it so I didn't want to walk up and take a photo. Looked really good in yellow. Have seen them in the motor show before but first time on the road. -
Er, pretty sure every language has terms for it: mistress, bit on the side etc. And have you heard of Ashley Madison?

Weird, someone posts a response that answers your question and you ignore it and deflect. You are so transparent.

Shocking slump: Thailand’s premium EV sales plunge 35%
josephbloggs replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Without clicking on the link I know immediately which openly anti China, Falungong backed, lie spreading YoTube channel this will be from (their videos have been fact checked and debunked on here many times). PS It's the same channel that posted an ICE fire and called it a Chinese EV fire and that showed a stunt car explosion from a movie set and said it was a Chinese EV spontaneously exploding as it was being charged. But there are always goons to swallow their lies and repost them without checking anything at all. Ah, hello.
