"There is nothing such as a bad dog, only bad owners." As long as such narratives are still used, the tragedies will keep on happening. No such thing as a bad dog, then one would have to explain why, for example, Pit Bulls could not be used by police, who consider them too dangerous and uncontrollable to be of any use. And this appears to suggest that poodles and Pit Bulls, well, they are all dogs, same family of animals. As if a poodle raised by a bad owner would start killing the neighbors and owners as well.

They fear ghosts, as innocuous as they are. But they will keep Pit Bulls, known for killing and maiming time and time again... Oh well. RIP.

Buy insurance: British tourist issues warning after moped crash
Andre0720 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A Thai would definitely claim that the house owner is responsible......... -
Yes, my neighbor, some years ago, bought a Toyota for rental. A Russian guy rented it for a long time, more than a year. He was going back and forth to the airport... Neighbor receiving a speeding ticket in the mail, the Toyota was photographed going 140 on the way to the airport. In a hurry he said he was...

Well, thanks for the research. I used to buy this type of paste, years ago. As they were used in Thai cuisine to make spicy fried vegetables. Then I stopped when I realized how Thai people are so careless about handling these products, and how new paste would certainly be mixed with the old one leftover. I no longer trust these people who will do everything to save a few bahts. Now if there is a claim that Thais do not put sugar in those pastes, I would be extremely surprised. But I will check, because when I stopped using this product, it was for hygienic reasons. Now, in restaurants, this is not what is put in Tom Yam. The large canned containers of Tom Yam paste are there. Like the Maepranom brand. On the photo attached, 30% of sugar.

Ok. I will just copy and paste a same response, for your own knowledge and benefit. Even if you ask for 'no sugar', there will be sugar in your dish or Tom Yum. Thai people do not even know what is in the sauces and pastes that they add in the preparation of meals. These sauces, they typically contain some 20% of added sugar. "What is tom yum paste made of? Ingredients: Soy bean oil, lemongrass, salt, shallot, galangal, chili, water, dried shrimp, lime, msg, kaffir lime leaves, citric acid, garlic, sugar, paprika color." There is just about always sugar in the food here, mainly because nobody knows how to cook. I always say, the cook is the one who makes the sauce, and the sauce comes from Super Cheap mini-mart. The typical restaurant here has about 10 bottles of various sauces, about 20% sugar in each. So yes, it is very hard to eat a meal in Thailand that is not laced with this slow acting poison. Hope that this will help you, without the need of Google.

How can police here not feel guilty for letting this happen???

So you found a place where you can get less sugar, in Chiang Mai. Well, congratulations. You say that I am not accurate. In Phuket, I think that I am. Now the mere fact that in Chiang Mai, you also have to ask for less of this and that, says it all...

It is entirely possible to cook a dish with olive or coconut oil, tasty, for 80 bahts. Good oil, no more than 10 or 20 bahts worth, sure. But now even for 100 bahts, one gets very little...

Of course. But I walked all over Phuket town, and no such thing as healthy food there... "Pad Thai, oh what is the red sauce do you use? " "It is ketchup". Hehe. "Do you have dishes without sugar? Hummm, oh yes we have. But what about the sauces? Oh they come from Super Cheap mini-mart.". Just about all contain 20% of added sugar. Fish sauce perhaps could be an exception. But it limits the number of dishes... Some years ago, I paid $1,000 dollars for my neighbors, mother and daughter, who wanted to go take a specialty cooking course in Bangkok. When they came back, they just said, it was all about adding sugar and MSG to flavor the dishes. They could not believe it, same as in Phuket...

Morally, it is everyone's business. Just like this site here, many times has provided useful information to users. So yes I do share what I know with people, some I know very little. But what they do with the information, is of course their decision, and their own business...

So this is about one's favorite food poisoning. There is no such thing as good food in Thailand, at least if someone is looking for healthy food. Nobody knows how to cook, nobody. Cheap bad oil, heated at a point where the oil gets toxic. Smell is horrible. Then laced with sugar, lots of it. The only way that they know to give anything a flavor. All sauces are loaded with white sugar. Good oil, nah, too expensive for any Thai kitchen here. I use exclusively olive oil at home, and sometimes coconut oil. Nothing else. So brace yourself for diabetes and arthritis. on the long run. The odd chicken with rice, (no sauce please). Otherwise, I will not eat any of that type of food. None. And my health got so much better. ???? Picture of sugar stock at Super Cheap mini mart, on stocking day, and then some 10 days later. Not even a need to bring the sugar inside the store...

What to do if Thai police stop you and attempt a ‘shake-down’

Reward of 100,000 Baht Offered For Missing Cat in Phuket
Andre0720 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Wow, 100,000 bahts for the return of a cat. Careful if you have a family. Might get someone interested in kidnapping. Never know. Any kidnapper would know for sure that he would be looking at so many millions of bahts for a safe return.. Lock the doors... Or just buy a new pet... -
I think that just about all tourist places in this world are already overdone. Of course, in order to have this perception, one must have a perception of what it was 'before'. Greek islands, Caribbeans, Mexico, France, Paris, Italy, Venice and Rome. Ah, what beautiful memories... But can never be the same, for anyone who listened to my experience, and would want to go and have the same experience for themselves. Too late. But after their own different experience, they will get others to try to get the same feeling... But also too late....

Australian Woman Runs Over and Kills Street Painter in Pattaya
Andre0720 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
She was on the phone, only explanation. So may tourists I see here learn that there are no enforced laws on the roads, or just about. So tourists do the same as Thais. Driving, best time to text and make calls... The road laws that are enforced here are those that are meant to protect people from themselves, like road blocks to giving a fine to Mbike drivers not wearing a helmet. If there is some police work that does not make me feel safe on the roads, well, that is it. But one thing is certain, police like to do this kind of police work, because it can be done in total safety for themselves. When will police understand that the population provide salaries to police to get protection from others that have behaviors dangerous to them, to their children, to their family, and to drivers on the road. I really do not perceive a threat in Mbike drivers not wearing a helmet, none. And ticketing cars parked on the wrong side of the road, I never saw a threat in that either. But one nice activity that police do downtown here. Great work, safe at all times, and with 'benefits'. -
