Trump claims he is ‘seriously’ looking at ObamaCare alternatives
blazes replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
Well, he promised to build a wall, and look....oh, I forgot, it was only 40 miles long. I'm surprised that Kamala (the Border Czar) does not blame the 6 million illegal entries to the USA since January 20, 2021 on Trump and his failure to deliver the goods re the Wall. -
Iran says it helped broker release of Thais held in Gaza
blazes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No, the war would not stop even if US and Iran stopped funding etc. Why not? Cos "from river to sea, Palestine shall be free" - in other words, Hamas and other similar terrorist groups will never give up on their fanatical determination to exterminate the Israeli population. -

https://apnews.com/article/business-middle-east-israel-foreign-aid-gaza-strip-611b2b90c3a211f21185d59f4fae6a90 I am not American, so, yes, they are not my tax dollars. But plenty of evidence (see the above link, one of hundreds) that mainly American (but also European) dollars/euros are being funnelled to Hamas (aka Palestine). UNRWA alone receives nearly $100 million per annum from the American taxpayer. -

Iranian wallets are stuffed with American dollars. The Biden regime has been accommodating Iran's terrorism with generous contributions from the American taxpayer. The Wall Street Journal summarises the whole sordid charade here: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/10-billion-more-for-iran/ar-AA1k3xX8 -

Where do you buy underwear from in Thailand?
blazes replied to Chris Daley's topic in General Topics
Where do I buy underwear from? Often it's Bangladesh, but Indonesia seems to be competitive these days.... -
A Canadian, Angela (as her name suggests) is as pure as the driven snow. Not in your most pervy dreams would she be capable of using her hands (let alone her mouth) for those jobs you fantasize about. Now Yuja Wang is another story altogether. (But I've never heard her play Bach....I was concentrating too much on her naked legs.)

My favourite insult (which sounds like an apology) is "sorry if it's confusing". Taken from Fawlty Towers when Basil is showing Mr Hutchison, the spoons man, a "map" of how to get from the hotel to the Post Office, and follows it up with "sorry if it's confusing."

Much worse than Scottish??? Not possible.

Is there a link for this link? (Whoever compiled it has only an intermittent grasp of the alphabet.) The average numbers seem a trifle generous, especially for the ladies of the UK and USA, who give new meaning to such sporting terms as "wide receiver" or "full back".

Who got bored in Thailand and went back?
blazes replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
One solution of boredom is to do the 6 months here/6 months there routine. But for me, the main attraction of LoS is the weather. I come from the Pacific Northwest (Seattle/Vancouver) and hate the persistent rain of winter, and so the ever-present heat of Thailand is just what the doctor ordered. Back to British Columbia for the summers, where the heat is just right. The great advantage of modern technology is that you can entertain yourself no matter where you are by reading any book from any time or culture. Boredom banished. PS why is it that many people on AN are shy or embarrassed or secretive about where their "home" outside Thailand is? What psychology is at work there? -
BREAKING NEWS US tourist brutally stabbed to death in Phuket hotel

Surely a gay rendezvous gone bad? -
from a British Columbia newspaper this morning: A B.C. public safety coalition including “well-known B.C. retailers” will call for tougher policing on Monday. On Sunday afternoon, the coalition said it would release its platform on Monday morning in Vancouver and that it comprised “community and business groups, citizens, and well-known B.C. retailers.” According to a coalition release, it “wants governments to work together and act without delay on the growing crime and violence crisis in communities across British Columbia. “More and more British Columbians are afraid to walk in their own streets and shopping districts, employees fear being assaulted at work, and local businesses are losing millions from brazen in-store theft that leads to higher prices for B.C. families.”

I find this statistic very disturbing…something out of Brave New World…it used to be that Sweden was the leader in this kind of thing, but how did Canada come to this pass? Begin forwarded message: Date: 25 October 2023 at 15:40:23 GMT-7 View this email in your browser Curated by the National Post's own Tristin Hopper, First Reading is a Canadian politics newsletter published Monday to Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time and noon on Saturdays. Sign up your friends here. Canada just released its annual report into the state of MAID (medical assistance and dying). And as expected, assisted suicide deaths went up last year ... by a lot. In just one year, what the government refers to as "MAID provisions" increased by 31.2 per cent. Assisted suicide is now Canada's fifth leading cause of death, and that's before the practice is dramatically liberalized next year to include everything from mental illness to drug addiction.
