  1. The people of Yala are equally indigenous, they haven't moved, the border did.
  2. Good luck fixing the numerous footbridge 'solutions', this one on Withayu junction with Pleonchit.
  3. Onana was about the only player who bothered to turn up yesterday, some cracking saves.
  4. I went to see it yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it, it's a very good movie.
  5. Some folk are only happy when they're moaning.
  6. Wow you get the Sa-Mart BMW, the lads who pop round to see us are usually on a scooter! And no in answer to the OP they get invited in and have never strayed further than the living room, sign the forms, photo together in the living room and a photo of us together at the front of the house with the house number. All very polite and respectful.
  7. I get the impression you're dissatisfied with just about everything, people pick up on that. If you go around looking like a sour faced $%#^ don't be surprised if you're responded to in kind.
  8. No, not were I live, I encountered none of this fear of Covid bearing foreigner stuff. Indeed I had great assistance getting registered for vaccination and was vaccinated for free, all with a smile. Undoubtedly much depends on where you live, your neighbourhood, the places you frequent and most certainly your general demeanour. As with much in life, you get back what you put in.
  9. "Most don't really care", is also not listed as an option
  10. On October 19, a TikToker named Brielle, who recently started a corporate job in the New York area, posted a video where she appeared visibly upset as she addressed the camera. The on-screen caption read, "in a 9-5 how do u have time for ur life." https://www.insider.com/college-graduate-upset-shock-working-nine-to-five-tiktok-2023-10 Oh dear, the poor child!
  11. Whatever he calls himself he's a car crash.
  12. It's a land bridge not a canal! Two deep water container ports and oil depots either side of a rail and road link plus oil pipeline. Offload one side, someone collects on the other.
  13. There's a big difference between your bar experiences and a country looking to raise finance and investment for a trillion Baht mega project.
  14. Big C
  15. I came through Suvarnabhumi 3 weeks ago, arriving about 1pm on a Qatar flight from Doha. Immigration Zone 1 was closed so herded through Zone 2. But the desks were fully manned, so although fairly busy I was through within 15 minutes. Total time from getting off the plane, clearing immigration, collecting bag and getting into a taxi was about 45 minutes. So no complaints.
  16. I think today you'll probably find in most countries safety pins are made in China, along with most everything
  17. I lived and worked there in the 80s & 90s, so my experience isn't current. These days I only do short site visits to projects, the most recent trip was 2019 to South Africa and Zambia, though as the client covers all expenses I pay little attention. Generally I'd guess cheaper, provided you weren't buying imported stuff, if you want your home comforts then that would likely be similar or quite possibly more expensive.
  18. Well you need to go to his office in Hat Yai for the witnessing with your two witnesses, they sign an initial all pages together with a signed copy of their ID card. But I can PM you the lawyers phone number.
  19. You'll need to indicate where you are in Thailand. The lawyer I used here in Hat Yai charged me Bht8,000, though that was six years ago now.
  20. Yeah right. Renewing my 1 year marriage extension this year the wife had to go and make a TM30 report because I'd recently travelled to Bangkok, the law changed recently and it's now supposed to be unnecessary, the response when I raised this was "this is Songkhla not Bangkok" - no arguing with that really - well you might try, but it will do you no favours. The 90 day report isn't really an issue, if you know what applies in Hat Yai - Songkhla you won't have a problem, and a 'complaint' will likely elicit the same response "this is Songkhla not Bangkok" . As with many inconsistencies in Thailand, you're better off saving your breath and simply adapting. .
  21. What a strange numpty
  22. It's not the case in Hat Yai either.
  23. I lived and worked for 14 years in Africa. South Africa, Namibia, Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia. I also visited Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Togo and Ivory Coast. I enjoyed my time in Africa though I'm not sure I'd wish to retire there, there are still too many issues with corruption, poor infrastructure, and in many instances political uncertainty. If I did, then probably Ghana or Tanzania, both countries I found very welcoming, with interesting people, cultures, history and places to see.
  24. Hat Yai's home
  25. There's no real tourism 'high season' for Malaysians. Rather it's weekends, Malaysian public holidays of which there are a lot, and school holidays all of which occur throughout the year. If they can junk the TM6 for airport arrivals I fail to see why they're still required at land crossings? .
