  1. Errrm, does it actually specify "instant access account", I keep my money for extension in a timed deposit account but haven't had any problems with immigration.
  2. There are quite a few countries that possess such a "geographical advantage" - Thailand's nearest point to the equator is Yala - not sure building a space port there would be quite so advantageous. I think he has perhaps too much space between the ears.
  3. None, haven't owned a car in 40 years. Lots of public transport, and if I need I car I hire one. No point living in a city and owning a car.
  4. How precisely does one do that - "hello, you have my moral support", no doubt they're all eternally grateful and feel thoroughly morally supported!?
  5. No, not there, the other side of Soi33 - roti shop not 'steakhouse' the Ded-o-cha Restaurant
  6. I wouldn't leave a car in Robinson's car park overnight, the ones near the airport are you best bet as they have security.
  7. I have no idea the name of the restaurant but it's on the corner of Phetkasem Soi 33 and Phetkasem Road in Hat Yai Nai (7.000768, 100.45356). It has always had the best roti canai in town.
  8. +1 for P*ssing in the wind and f4rting against thunder. .
  9. I had a visitation from immigration yesterday, twenty minutes notice. I had made my application for marriage extension two months ago, and we had a visit from immigration then during the consideration period, extension granted - so this was somewhat out of the blue. Unlike previous visits from the local immigration officers in Hat Yai, these two were from Sadao Immigration, they were very polite and apologetic for disturbing us, explanation was they were confirming I was living where I'd said I was, all part of the current crackdown, bad guys out, good guys in, or whatever. I got the impression they were justifying their existence rather than the validity of my visa status. All over in ten minutes, signed the document, posed for a selfie with the IO, thank you and goodbye. .
  10. Milk supplies down south still hit and miss, but can usually find the All Season milk. There was another new one in the 7-11 today Party Dairy - milky milk gave it a miss in favour of All Season.
  11. Hat Yai is busy, with tight finances Malaysians and Singaporeans are holidaying closer to home, so Southern Thailand gets the benefit.
  12. Plenty of misogynists
  13. Actually you can do both to an extent in Thailand with its sizeable Thai-Chinese population. Somewhere like Hat Yai there are many Chinese speaking Thai, most shops display names in Thai & Chinese, we have a lot of Chinese restaurants, several traditional Chinese pharmacies, we used to have a Chinese language newspaper.
  14. AXA can buy online. https://www.axa.co.th/en/travel-accident-protection
  15. Obviously not, it's my considered opinion based on the five years spent there, mainly in central Siberia, but also the Russian far-east and Moscow. But it's a opinion based on personal experience rather than the standard Cold War Era propaganda stereotypes. .
  16. 1. The people 2. The food 3. The weather 4. The scenery 5. The cost of living
  17. I lived and worked in Siberia for five years, I enjoyed my time there, Russians aren't uncivilised, crude savages, far from it.
  18. 1) Moaning expats 2) Whinging foreigners 3) Luton bedsit Thai bashers 4) Endless whiners 5) Folks who can never see a positive
  19. Same here in Hat Yai, no 2 litre Meji full fat milk the last few days, the small size Dutch Mill has been available. However, the wife found All Season fresh milk, 2 litre size, in the big 7-11 this morning. Produce of the Southern Dairy Company, Songkhla - never seen it before - but it tastes fine, so I'm happy. They have a website, very interesting https://allseasondairy.com/about/ .
  20. Likewise, he died when I was eight, so only vague memories.
