  1. He's going to have problems with that wherever he goes. I bank with HSBC Singapore and use Wise to transfer money out. Transfer to Wise Singapore is a local transfer so no CLIE and no bank charges. But you can't move USD to Wise Singapore, you need to move from the MultiCurrency Account into your SGD account first, at the bank exchange rate.
  2. Has he thought about Singapore, nearer than the UK if he's living in Thailand.
  3. No idea. The line from Padang Basar to KL is operated by KTM so you might try contacting them to find out. Call Center: +60-3-2267-1200 (Operation Time: 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM) Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.ktmb.com.my/index.html .
  4. A fact is an observation that's been confirmed so many times that scientists can, for all intents and purposes, accept it as "true." A hypothesis is a tentative explanation about an observation that can be tested. It's just a starting point for further investigation. A law is a detailed description of how some aspect of the natural world behaves, usually involving mathematics. A theory is is an explanation of some aspect of the natural world that's well-substantiated by facts, tested hypotheses and laws.
  5. Flat earthers were worried the Covid 2m rule might push them to the edge.
  6. Have you actually looked at the video clip? The driver pulled out when the motorbike was almost on him, the poor girls had zero chance. A classic case of a driver looking right, nothing, looking left traffic - wait from the traffic to pass - then go! He failed to look to his right again, and two girls died because of that omission.
  7. 2x AstraZeneca 1x Moderna 1x Pfizer Not had Covid, but everyone in the family has, elder daughter twice. Family caught Covid (Delta) last year, a month after I'd had my first AZ jab, I avoided infection even though I was home looking after 4 Covid cases.
  8. The article is not specifically about Pattaya, the observation that Malaysian tourists toppled Indians in terms of the number of foreign tourism arrivals in Thailand, while 4-5 million tourists visited Thailand in total from Q1 to Q3, was made by the director of the Pattaya Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) addressing a meeting of hoteliers to assess the tourism situation in Pattaya and Thailand. So possibly should have been posted in the General News forum rather than Pattaya News forum.
  9. That I can't say. But as a general observation Malaysian Chinese would probably represent the majority of Malaysian tourists to Hat Yai. As Hat Yai has a large Thai Chinese population so shop signs are commonly in both Thai and Chinese, we have many Chinese restaurants, karaoke lounges, Chinese temples, and various Chinese dialects are spoken in Hat Yai, you can also buy a Chinese language newspaper. So it's a home from home.
  10. I posted figures for demographic of Malaysia, not the demographic of Malaysian tourists.
  11. I don't think immigration will keep hold of your passport. However, in the unlikely event they do, I would expect a receipt from them saying as much. In that event I would think a receipt from immigration plus a photocopy might be OK. Thai driving licence works if you have one.
  12. That's just your dirty mind, the kids are just dancing Do you actually have any figures for that? Or are you just basing this on a few lurid stories that sell the news? Do you have any comparisons, do you have any numerical data at all?
  13. Very liberal, hardly, Victorian I'd accept. Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist society, it doesn't do moralistic Christian hand wringing.
  14. The one staring the UK in the face, the next 1 to 2 years.
  15. Simply charting the last 12 months isn't exactly cherry picking! What happened 1, 2, 3 4, 5 year ago is hardly relevant to the current plight of the UK economy is it?
  16. The GBPeso is going one way only, and I see no good news on the horizon to change that.
  17. Coyotes and coffin dancers for me I think. Or maybe coyote coffin dancers - must be a market for that!
  18. Where does it say that? I said 40% of Malaysians aren't Muslim. I don't know the exact proportions of Malaysians, Muslim/non-Muslim, who travel to Thailand, nor do I know what proportion of Muslim Malaysians do drink alcohol; having worked in Malaysia I know some certainly do.
  19. Hat Yai is almost back to normal, now that the border has reopened and flights to KL and Singapore resumed. With Malaysian school term 2 holiday break starting tomorrow it will be a busy couple of weeks in Hat Yai. With money tight for most people, many won't want to venture too far for a holiday, so Southern Thailand is just right. Always worth remembering that Malaysia is 40% non-Muslim, and many do like to drink, and it's more often whiskey or brandy (by the bottle) rather than beer. People who think Malaysians are low spenders have obviously never had a night out in KL or Hat Yai.
