  1. Cancer treatment is quick to start in Thailand even in a government hospital, though not cheap. But then I didn't go shopping around I just wanted to get started. Thanks for your post.
  2. Nice place but the ale isn't cheap and there's no decent rooms for say £50/£70 a week.
  3. What would constitute "hits the fan".?
  4. Have you remembered the referendum yet and the majority vote that was against independence. Possibly you may remember the various "Better Together" rallies, demonstrations, parades or whatever they were officially termed. Very proud and patriotic Scottish people on them.
  5. Similar thing happened to me in the bank and the lady rudely asked the cashier why she was attending to a farang instead of her. The cashier just replied that my queue ticket was before hers. Old lady angrily stormed off.
  6. Indulgences still exist and can still be obtained for cash. In 2000 cash could still get you an indulgence.
  7. Or a steak pie.
  8. Many thanks for all responses, very helpful.
  9. There has been mention and some discussion over UK Citizens (possibly only applying to pensioners) who have been away from the UK over 3 years no longer qualifying for free treatment. Is it a rule but a rarely enforced one.? Anyone with knowledge or experience on this matter care to comment. I am not saying treatment would be refused but would be chargeable, I have seen comments a few years ago, some naysayers and some saying that there have been a few crackdowns.
  10. In Thailand moreso than anywhere one beach resort is much the same as another. And today's tourist crowd don't add pleasure to the experience. Small towns don't have those and there is usually enough there to justify a few days stay. Especially if your pleasure comes from nosing around and relaxing in caffs and restos. Somebody mentioned Nakhon Sawan which is a good example, get a hotel near the park/lake have a wander around and also by the river and see Thailand not tourists. Of course the wandering is pleasanter in the evening hours out of the heat.
  11. Many thanks stoner, apparently I now have someone sorted by a mate so I'll see how that pans out. I still have nearly 3 weeks of treatment left so won't be doing anything till it's finished. Stoner you are gent and I appreciate your offer.
  12. Good question, he said that he credited the oil with keeping him right. He had told the doctors this and they nodded in agreement.
  13. I have spoken to a person a while ago who said cannabis Oil was helping him live through lung cancer. I am on chemo for throat cancer, would it help me, how would I apply it and where would be the best place to get it.? Grateful for any advice.
  14. I did not see any details of this "daring escape".
  15. Hilarious indeed, I doubt my kecks will ever dry.
  16. We could do with a longer list that includes some more hospitable destinations. So some lad in the pub said anyway.
  17. Is your own problem genetic then.? And a Brit can be from more than one island.
  18. Do you have any details of this ship NDN, I've done a few trips on cargo ships so it sounds interesting.
  19. I very nearly did 25 years ago, always liked Vientiane but the longest I've managed is 2 weeks. I've only been once since the Chinese took over, could do with another look. You may have a point it could wear thin after a while it is a smallish place but I did last a good few years in the Nakhon.
  20. Still no long-stay visas or extensions for Laos or has that changed.?
  21. You are always one step ahead of the game bob, an example to us all.
  22. Interesting, any relatively new condos showing signs of neglect.? Lack of maintenance is a third world thing. For third world please read developing nation.
  23. I suppose it depends on the room, I don't suppose it would be much for the original price in a place paying an illegal person 3,000 or 4,000 a month to run the reception. I mean there are well respected contributors on here who would never go near a 500 baht room, let alone 300. No you are correct, lock the git up and eventually deport him.
  24. "Ripping off" by charging 500 for a 300 baht room.? What tourists are looking at 300 baht rooms.? The answer is probably skint ones, but 500 in bkk is not a killer.
