  1. Is that "professor" nonsense still hovering here!!! She is a "young teacher". Translation was BS. See my post above.
  2. Exactly that. Just that I can't show it as an example.
  3. What happens if you connect the laptop to the monitor? (you connect via HDMI? or what?) Are both displays active and show identical view? In this mode it is indeed not be possible to switch to more than 1920*1080 ("Full HD") as this is the resolution (in pixels) of your laptop display (completely "normal"). Do you use Microsoft Windows? And aren't there settings for dual display operation? You should be able to only use the widescreen display when connected and set to 2560*1080. I would be surprised if the graphic card can't handle that. What exact model is that laptop/notebook? Unfortunately I can not test because my notebook and (old) TV are Full HD only (identical resolution). I normally have only the TV display active. Notebook dark. I am sitting at my PC.
  4. Yes, thanks for saying. For a moment I thought feeding with pictures from Ko Samui and Phuket. Go to Iceland, clear cool water!
  5. A done to death topic. Quite boring to grab it now. And to the rescue: a lot of cable stuff on certain roads has been cleaned up or dug underground already. I remember the crying when North Pattaya rd. was a construction mess for that reason. And even in cheap charlie rd (Soi Buakhao) they cleaned up the internet cable chaos (a bit ).
  6. And here it is obviously a complete rubbish translation. From the Thai language headline, the dictionaries say: อาจารย์สาว aa-jaan săao That's a young ("girl") teacher ; instructor ; schoolteacher Google calls it: young teacher (missing the female part, "saao" is a young girl) "professor"
  7. Just seen another article about Lufthansa/Eurowings cancelling more than a thousand flights in July. Giving hints how to avoid chaos at checkin etc
  8. I read about chaos in UK. Cancelled flights . Stranded passengers abroad. Planes that can not be filled due to lack of staff. Plane taking off without passengers to make it to destination before airport closes. Etc etc
  9. What can you do in an emergency? Car was as far left as possible. Lights on and hopefully well visible on a Merc. Bike: obviously on the stretch before tollgate. Allowed or not? I don't know but seen regularly.
  10. Hard to interpret this as an accident. A psycho running mad after an accident? No. In my former I spend some time after work in the area about every other day. Know every corner, every shop. Exceptionally shocking.
  11. A terrible ripoff that is a major concern for this government since long ????
  12. You should go for quality. On Lazada you find Patek Phillippe for about 12000 Baht. What a deal compared to the 30000+ EUR/USD/GBP elsewhere ????????
  13. As I suggested. And as the topic starter might come from Germany, Casa Pascal is first choice out of the hotel.
  14. Missing translation. It's a "farang person". Simply a "farang". Used in the Thai article: ชาว chaao person ฝรั่ง fà-ràng Western Westerner ; Caucasian ; "farang"
  15. No. You can drive as slow as a bicycle if some idiot racer (has seen green some 2 seconds ago?) punches your car from the side. (Yes, just speculation. Haven't seen the CCTV)
  16. But I experienced buffet only on the weekend. During the week boring fried eggs, some toast, tasteless sausage, cheapest fruit day after day (without any choice, not even asking for what style of eggs). That was obviously due to extreme low occupancy during high Covid time. (I didn't complain as 800 Baht/night won't come back soon ) Maybe things have improved like the prices.
  17. Didn't expect they would fit 3000/4000. Sign of the times.
  18. The name "Web Shopping Card" has obviously been discontinued. https://www.kasikornbank.com/en/kbiz/individual/pages/pre-login.aspx And the "apply ... will be available soon" does not sound too promising (seemingly not integrated to the app/website?). Trying at the ATM might be worth a try. I had this web shopping card for some years but as debit cards now can be enabled for online payment I lost interest.
  19. Mobile website close to unusable. Need must be desparate
  20. They are so unworldly. Long before this "opening" there were party/mass events. This country becomes the scare monger center of the world. Expect masks to be worn for years. The simple minded are scared and there is no real education.
  21. I have it since a while as a second SIM. It allows hotspot sharing, speed capping gives no free lunch (15 to the point). 60 min/month phone calls to all Thai mobile networks included. DTAC coverage/signal strenght is worse than AIS in my area and most others I tested. But it's good enough for the 15 Mbit/s as a backup and on the road. You can online register the SIM yourself. Was a bit strenuous (two or three attempts with uploading of ID and selfie) but in the end it worked. Otherwise you have to do at some DTAC service point. The DTAC app is useful to check usage/phone credit...
  22. With such a budget, I would book a >90 m2< suite with seaview at Sandy Spring, Soi 13. Just over 3000/night (seems breakfast not included). If their breakfast offerings are not satisfying for you, a short walk over 2nd road to Casa Pascal. If that is not good enough I am finished...
