  1. @Finlaco Very good contribution. Doesn't sound like I would try Currency Fair. XE is interesting to me as they seem to give the same result even for paying from credit card which is very convenient. WISE has a hefty extra fee for credit card.
  2. I visited the converted shop at Soi Buakhao/Soi Lengkee first week of July. The choices were less than impressing. Had to walk over to 7/11 to fill the gap.
  3. 16 Aug 23, 7:40 Both links loading OK now. Just a week ago I did the report from the mobile. Worked fine.
  4. Interesting. If there is no hidden trap they beat WISE by a small margin. You are using it? Just checked 1000 EUR: 38385.70 vs 38381.66. 2000 EUR: 76896.40 vs 76786.48. They have a different approach: lower exchange rate but very low fee. I will watch but not sure whether I will take the effort to open an account. Questions related: unlimited amount to all banks or same 50k Baht limit for many Thai banks? Does it appear as a foreign transfer on the bank book?
  5. For now just a short feedback with not too much detail. Bangkok Hospital Khon Kaen. Had a prostate MRI on July 29, inconclusive but with the other examinations no cancer suspected. Size corrected to 119 ml. (MRI exhausting 2 hours! lying flat with those "space sounds"). July 31, TURP done with spinal block. That went a bit to the edge, 2.5 hours! After about 2 hours the anesthesia started to fade and it became more than uncomfortable. One sleepless night in "ICU". Four more nights in standard room. August 4, catheter removed. Initial result shocked me, some bloody dribble. But now a good stream. Developed an urinary tract infection (ecoli), pumped with antibiotic infusions. 73 grams of growth removed, no cancer in tissue! Good: no cancer found, close to no relevant pain. Could sit and move from the 2nd day. Not so good: my kidney function is under watch. Blood test result went worse after TURP? Waiting for another blood test. Urine still not crystal clear but urologist was not concerned. Overflowing bank account relieved.
  6. As far as I know you "just" loose your credit and have to top up from zero. There is no panic, loosing the number takes much longer. I am not familiar with DTAC, but as I remember they have a fairly "cheap" 3 Baht option to extend the validity. At AIS you have to topup some 10 Baht (at vending machines) or 20 Baht on other channels. Gives one month.
  7. Absolutely recommended. Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn and SCB don't have this strange limitation. Overall fee goes down to about 0.69% for higher amounts and slightly better if sending from WISE account.
  8. Basically all said. Don't be fooled by fees. Some will offer "no fee" transfer. It's always fees AND rates to compare. What counts? Money arriving in your Thai account. And WISE is hard to beat for typical private transfers.
  9. Switch off >mobile data< on the phone. Otherwise 1 Baht per minute will drain except you have subscribed for an internet plan. In July 2022 I topped up my AIS with 500 Baht for some reason and I am still struggling to use it before expiry. Who does phone calls ????
  10. As written. I always do the extension early. A few days off the 30 days. My extension ends Oct 30 and will be at the office on Oct 3.
  11. At Bangkok Hospital Pattaya you can pay more than 4000 USD. A friend had done this for 150000 Baht. I would have to ask him how satisfied he is in the long term.
  12. Low loaders are so rare here Stuck under a bridge... throwing off an excavator in the U turn... Add to the list????

    In the news now:
  14. All the discussion about proper crossing or not is pointless if the driver acknowledges that he noticed the train. Whether there was really this voice from behind urging him to speed through? Guess this voice is dead an no proof possible.
  15. KhunBENQ replied to malthebluff's topic in Phuket
Legit question for a thread in General. Sounds like a misspelling of Nai Harn in Phuket?
  16. You feel taken for a ride if you follow the rules while this criminal can hang around Phuket without a passport selling drugs. Four years never ran into a police check? Mr big is a foam beater.
  17. For me definitely Christian era. They don't add to what is in the passport.
  18. I only have experience with single statements in pdf. There you simply get the password prompt when trying to open and enter birthday as: yyyymmdd 13. April 1958: 19580413 The compressed file (zip?): Can you unpack it without password to single files?
  19. TM6 was only issued at land borders. Just did my 90 day report online where there event isn't a field to fill.
  20. I went through a couple of file managers/explorers. This one did the job: https://www.rsfile.net/ On my phone it comes in German as "RS Datei Manager". But you find it in playstore searching "RS File Manager". It has quite annoying adds. I had to close it once to get around.
  21. Ice makers rent these filled with ice. Perfect replacement for a fridge. Freezer is a different topic.
  22. You were faster. Hot sweaty evening. AC running, thunderstorm and bang! That's a shock. Announced means you can prepare. Buy a drove of ice ????
  23. What phone model (if not Samsung).
