  1. What? Come on, as tragic as the massacre was, laughing has not been forbidden nationwide! Life has to go on. They see death and destruction every day.
  2. There no guard rails to be seen at the accident site. Long stretches of 344 are divided 4 lane (2/2) but no guard rails to the left. Only parts are lit up. One of them is the accident site. Similar to here: https://goo.gl/maps/ZSfNwwkecPf6MJVw8 Without knowing the exact site (only subdistrict) hard to tell. The second picture in the report shows how much road space in one direction there is. No excuse to ram into a truck parked sharply to the left. Microsleep is my guess.
  3. Of course it's an individual thing how you like your pool. And I can only speak about Pattaya. And more than once I needed willpower to swim in the pool mid December. During the hot months I swim in the pool before breakfast. But not in December/January! "Polar bears" will laugh at it but I am simply accustomed to warm pools. And I guess Chiang Mai won't be better?
  4. Ok. Long term things look different. Some 10 years ago it was over 30. And the Euro was close to 50. Now 36.6 or so.
  5. You call that collapsing? (5 year chart) Wish the Euro would collapse like this.
  6. Don't be too quick. 1000? No. 1500? No. But I find a few places near beach/centrally for under 3000 in the first week of December (used booking.com). Pool makes the difference. Of course expect prices rising the closer you come to X-mas/NYE. I will not give any names as I stayed on Phuket only two times since 2017. Around X-mas I stayed at a place about 300 m from north end of Patong beach for about 1000/night (with tiny pool). But that was before the opening of the country (during sandbox phase).
  7. After the madness of battery powered cars now the complete utter nonsense of battery powered aircraft. Nice toy, maybe for a billionaire estate. Flying from his tennis court to the veranda for dinner. And now look at a typical Bangkok traffic nightmare and imagine that only 20% of those would try to use airspace. Battery powered: exporting pollution to battery production and horrendous multi-fold demand for natural resources (mining). No way this is the future of mobility. https://aerospaceamerica.aiaa.org/features/the-buzz-over-batteries/ Just an arbitrary source for the numbers. I have read much worse like 1 kg kerosene equiv to 70 kg of Lithium battery.
  8. And an update of the bank book (print) same day. Might require some transaction (deposit) be done at the bank counter because some banks can not update without transaction. Bangkok Bank can.
  9. For which they already issued a warning. And not only northeastern. https://www.tmd.go.th/en/warningwindow.php?wID=13284
  10. Good laughing show from the mask men. Do I feel they need to assure every other day? I would be very concerned.
  11. And maybe their English is better It's always a game of luck if you can hear them and understand them. Ages ago in the late 90s or so it was a nightmare. You would need a sound booster/amplifier.
  12. It's a normal workday and whether there is a big backlog from closing 13th and 14th? I doubt it. Monday 17th might be unusually busy. Buddhist lent was on Monday 10th and not even a public holiday.
  13. Normal procedure like for me. Just that it is now 45 days max. For me (not Jomtien) it was 12th August (a holiday). Impatient as I am I simple went on August 5th and it was ready. Maybe you can try your luck and ask about the state of affairs in 3 weeks or so?
  14. Brilliant website management. Showing office with phone number. "Number does not exist". My guess: closed. Airport office phone number rings.
  15. Just read at another thread: So two provinces of the region would also be affected. Samut Prakan (airport) to Bangkok will be one clogged/shutdown corridor. Would not want to be there at the time.
  16. A common misunderstanding. Some people might also think that Suvarnabhumi airport is IN Bangkok. The big concrete/asphalt lump of Bangkok and surrounding provinces is often referred as "Bangkok Metropolitan Region".
  17. One never stops learning. The "Korean finger heart". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finger_heart Now I know that I misunderstood so many (still) photos I know rubbing index finger and thumb as: that costs money/how much/give me money
  18. Compared to one month back it's back on nearly same level. Compared to last week of September it's indeed a relief.
  19. Need to see a psychiatrist. But you would be stunned how many Thais will buy the tales. The corpse was cremated without ceremony or monks. No wonder the ghost can't rest ????
  20. Bet "shoe" is no better than some flipflops or plastic sandals.
  21. For yesterday I found one flight of Bangkok Airways from Suvarnabhumi around midday. Won't be a cheap tour of course. 3300 to 4800 one way! Check their website: https://www.bangkokair.com/eng
  22. I am not aware that you >must< apply >before< due date. 30 days before is the usual >earliest< date to apply. If you have your documents ready I find it a good idea to go early and not wait for the last minute.
  23. It needs much imagination to find another reason. Very tiny chance of Soi dog, pothole, someone coming in his way...
  24. Better late than never. Can be recycled for next year ???? 3 hours 27 min to go
  25. That's why I usually don't comment in such threads. And as you see it is full of "funny" nonsense posts. Really not worth.
