  1. Just don't tell the Thai pump assistant that you want "gas". He will looked puzzled at your filler cap
  2. The order as described the OP IS correct for email clients. Newest/latest mail is on top/first in the list. Nothing unusal.
  3. Can't tell from experience but this is how they promised it to work after the last changes. Congrats. Nothing unusual except that they still sent the "received.."/"48 hours". The (approved...) mail shown first in your inbox has been sent after the second on your inbox (received...). Normal order. First in your inbox is second one sent
  4. Prearranged transport, Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya was still a 1000 Baht a few weeks ago (hope they can keep the price). Tom Taxi e.g. For next visit I seriously consider to use the Jomtien bus, 130 Baht, every hour. BOLT taxi to hotel from Jomtien.
  5. No they mean petrol Or fuel? Or gas? Please not another round of English variants (not my language). It's some liquid filled in tanks of otto engine powered vehicles so to say. In my language it's called Benzin. And to add: Benzene has become a rare species in Thailand. Almost all cars run on gasohol.
  6. Just looked up again at Shopee. AIS 15 Mbit/s with 100 GB/month limit, one year for 1590. True 15 Mbit/s uncapped, one year for 1790. Usually the packages incl. 60 min/month phone call to all Thai mobile networks.
  7. You consider 1 to 6 Mbit/s (?) broadband? With a new SIM: DTAC, 15 Mbit/s uncapped, 200/month (many shops have those SIMs on offer). One year SIM 15 Mbit/s for 1389. Seemingly only via online order (I just recently bought one). Other speeds (lower or faster) are available. I should note that speeds are highly assymetric, upload only about 5 Mbit/s (vs 15 download). Buy before they die (megamerger with True). First time buy you pay for the SIM like 70 Baht. AIS SIM packages usually have a volume limit like 100 GB/month. Good for most but not all.
  8. From experience can only tell about Kasikorn. About 2013 a mate went to some branch in Pattaya with an age old "Thai Farmers Bank" book. Was out in a about 20 minutes with a new Kasikorn passbook for the account. Bangkok Bank? Can only hope that they have progressed and you can do that at every branch?
  9. Why so modest? Monte Carlo, Nizza, Waikiki, Gold coast...
  10. Pattaya beach rd., VT6 to the left: Jomtien somewhere between Chaiyaphruek and Watboon:
  11. Banana plants on that infamous empty plot on Pattaya beach rd. Too funny
  12. Maybe Prayut could have a word with the truck/pickup manufacturers? Have you seen TV spots where they show crazy racing/speeding among pickups? Similar to other car TV spots, all about racing/speeding and shiny rims. Have you ever seen promotion showing fuel consumption? (I don't say it doesn't exist but I didn't stumble upon). Funny enough some small bikes/scooter are advertised with high "mileage" (like 70?km/liter). Have you ever heard that fuel efficient pickups are rewarded in terms of annual tax/sales tax? Maybe I learn something new.
  13. There are exactly two passwords that I remember: 1) the master password for my encrypted container (VeraCrypt) which contains a simple text file with xx account names and passwords, credit card data etc. etc. It is 16 characters long (yes a bit weak, should be 20). I can remember it and still it is far from simple to guess. Remembering is easy as I use it multiple times a day on PC and phone (2nd copy of the container). Master password is never used online, container copies locally only (four copies in total). No cloud, no nothing 2) second password is a trivial 13 character password violating basic rule (some name included). This same trivial password is used on multiple online sites which just bother for some registration without being any security relevant. Hacking would do no real harm. AseanNow is not in this category Almost none of the passwords in the container is made of complex characters (some sites still force otherwise). All easy readable from a limited set of ASCII letters and digits. Created with a tool. Length matters! Hardly any password shorter than 12, most 16 or 20 now. The whole list of master passwords and passwords in the container is PRINTED on paper!! The paper is in a sealed envelope in the safe. If safe broken I am ..... up
  14. Yes, absolutely no "Thai" problem. Extreme problems to get chips for the gadget filled cars is about the main cause. And this started long before the Ukraine war. The crazy draconic Chinese measures are dragging down world trade in multiple areas. Wring harnesses from Ukraine is probably a minor facet. In Germany prices for used cars are as high as never before. Risen 20% to 30% over the year. Some used cars can make more money than the list price of an equivalent new car.
  15. From an other (archived) thread it sounds like it is available over the counter: https://aseannow.com/topic/1040679-spiriva/ Beat me, but I couldn't remember that I have written there
  16. Sounds like you look for an easier way to purchase Spiriva (some Asthma medication?). Would be better in the health forum.
  17. No it's a second SIM in a dual SIM phone. Many but not all phones offer this feature. You can then setup that SIM2 is used for internet/data e.g. If he has a dual SIM phone he could use this. 200 Baht/month (even less) for internet flatrate (4, 10, 15, 20... Mbit/s) and leave the True SIM for calls, use as little as possible. Best take him with his phone to one of the many shops in the supermarkets or IT malls etc. and ask for cheapest way to go. Dual SIM as I have it in my phone:
  18. Strange. You have to question what he pays for. Guess it's about internet/data usage? If he is not depending on his current number (maye he is due to LINE or the like?) then he could simply buy a new SIM with a monthly or yearly internet flat rate. I just bought me online a second SIM from DTAC for 1390 Baht, valid for one year, 15 Mbit/s internet with no capping, 60 minutes phone calls per month to all networks. At local phone shops you get DTAC SIMs with the same feature costing 200 Baht/month. Those require monthly top-up to keep alive. A 15 year old definitely has an ID card and can register a SIM in his name. True and AIS tend to be more expensive for such monthly/yearly packages.
  19. 2011 with the Non O-A. That is a problem now with the retrospective requirement of a "TIGA" compliant healt insurance. For two years I paid a relatively cheap pro forma insurance.
  20. If there is a path from visa exempt entry to Non-O and subsequent extension I would prefer. Could be done in a day. Conditions for retirement extension are met (> 50yr, 800k+ ever since). A simple border run with exempt entry would be easier for me at Nong Khai (much closer).
  21. Since May 2nd, 2022, Switzerland has dropped all pandemic related travel restrictions. You should check with the airline whether they still require a vaccination certificate.
  22. Sorry for dumb questions: at the Lao border, any Covid related checks? (vaccine certificate) On returning to Thailand: did you need a Thai pass (online application) with Covid insurance? I am considering options to get rid of my Non O-A visa status later in the year. Would need insurance by the new 3 mio Baht rules. Mukdahan is a 3.5 hour drive by car for me.
  23. On the very rare occasion of using a card and pin that was at a TOPS supermarket. Was a local debit card though.
  24. That's the direction to go. Just that I found the last van from the transport terminal seems to go at 8 PM?
