I am also confused as the insurance requirement in not new. Had to deal with it for two extensions (recently got rid of the Non O-A like many others did). A friend in Jomtien with Non O-A from 2010 had to use an agent to get around with some insurance that does not fulfill the conditions but obviously with some blind eye premium for immigration. So your original Non O-A visa is more than 12 years old and you never left/reentered the country? I am clueless. Check through your current passport is my only advice. Does it have a "transfer" stamp stating your last entry and visa status? (as the last visa). Looks like this:

Either because they are incompetent drivers never touching their auto stick or having manual and will roll back to the beach with the clutch open I experienced some roads in Samui up to a waterfall with the scooter and yes that was extremely steep. But how many live on such roads? And watch Thai drivers using manual: they seldom will exceed 2000 rpm. Will overtake in 5th gear. They are a threat to public.

Back to manual? Never. And good luck finding cars/limousines with manual. Only the very cheapest micro cars still offer this option to save a few more thousand Baht. More with pickups. because it's cheaper. Mercedes do not offer manual anymore for cars.

Definitely not on the countryside before Covid. At a pollution center like Bangkok this might have been different. In Pattaya before Covid: no way. Rarely seen masks on bikes/scooters. They follow like sheep because the majority is kept in the dark and consumes soap operas and not expert advice on Covid. Bit different, but: I had done a border run on July 17 to Laos and came back with visa exempt 30 days. On July 19 applied for Non O visa (status) at Khon Kaen immigration. Two days ago (August 5, approved August 2) I got my Non O based on retirement stamped in the passport. As written somewhat different as based on retirement and having 800k+ funds in Thai bank since long but generally it's possible. Admitted until October 30. On October 3 I will apply for one year extension.

The account (SMS) is to my mobile number. Delivery address (which can be different from your home address) contains the number of my stepdaughter. I don't know whether you can empty the mobile number for delivery. Here in the village it is easy anyway: if nobody can be reached the package is delivered at the shop a few steps down the road. Works well (except maybe for COD which I don't use). There is also a growing number of neighborhood shops which officially serve as a drop off point.

After reading a couple of problem reports about email confirmation I ran into the problem myself. Simply does not come, stuck. I then created a complete new account based on my mobile number and that works. Lazada is probably the company that knows best how to lock out customers. What does this say about high tech at immigration. As far as I know a database for revoked documents should be available for all immigration organizations?
