Porsche Driver Crashes into Motorcycle, Killing Cambodian Worker
KhunBENQ replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
Not possible with the car. Too drunk to run? Belonging to the untouchable class, buying out with pocket money? No mob lynching to fear at 3 AM on Ch.p.2 -
Without a navigation I would be totally lost in the wonderful city. I "love" it. That's what google shows how to get to highway 1. Does it make sense? I remember that routes in Bangkok may depend on time of day? Rest is trivial (1 to 2 and there you are). Right is three times left 😄 ("Siegesdenkmal" -> Victory Monument)

Is it possible to survive and do business WITHOUT a Smartphone?
KhunBENQ replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in IT and Computers
And how do you receive the OTPs? And SCB is the first that can not be used on a browser at all. AseaNow? What kind of joke is that? I do 90% on PC like now. Living without smartphone? No. Too much to even try to explain why. For the OP it's seems a herculean task to get a new phone. Strange people here. -
Thai delivery companies don't understand post office box numbers
KhunBENQ replied to simon43's topic in General Topics
Well said. A complete misconception by the OP. Many years ago I ordered water filters from a company that used postal mail at the time. I gave them the general post office address (poste restante). Picked up the parcel there. Worked fine at the time. Years later ordering again. Call to wife: we use courier now, can not deliver to post office). The post office is not a free service agent for their competitors. That Lazada sellers are stupid enough to use such address is remarkable. They should have rejected. There are many agents (shops etc.) that accept courier deliveries for you to pickup. Another option might be to have it stored at the courier distribution center (in most district cities). How to specify? -
Must be many years ago. Can't remember when it was that easy.

Clearly stated. And why? A tourist/exempt can drive on his home country license or in combination with an IDP. Why should they produce workload/bureaucracy for people who are in the country for a few weeks?

Boy initially tried the usual manoveur: right turn by turning left to go against traffic for a short distance and then swerving over. This manoveur saves the unthinkable: stop and wait 😳 Then he realizes that won't go well so go over in an angle where traffic is also not clear and another in his way. That finally cost three lives. Truck driver might have assumed that the boy continues the usual against traffic manouver? A model example why so many young bike riders die. Never stop and wait to look carefully. Save every second.

1) no, not legally. See 4) of course appearing in person is required 2) yes, and up to one year after expiry without extra effort. "6 years": until the 5th following birthday. Expiry always on birthday. 3) can't tell for sure. Usually you always need a Non O or extension. Might end in getting another 2 year license. Visa exempt will make problems (this is where an "agent" might help but be careful with what prices they call) 4) can't tell about queue in Pattaya. Otherwise a health certificate (peanuts) is required AND some proof of residence which might be the hardest part when on tourist visa (no way on exempt). From what I read Pattaya is making own rules not even acception yellow book. Have to get res.cert. from immigration. DL extension will require physical tests (color, depth perception ,reaction). 5) also for Pattaya locals, can't tell. Here I just walk in at 8 AM and walk out at 11 AM.

100 m away and not capable to avoid? Did he honk the horn, flash the light? It often amazes me that they wouldn't even use the horn to avoid a collision. A 15 year old without the slightest awareness... They can not wait for an empty road or sufficient space. With three people such a small bike won't go off like a rocket.

Thai Officials Arrested in Child Sex Ring in Khon Kaen
KhunBENQ replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
This time they carefully hide details about exact location. (it's an offspring from a former case) Even two reports in Thai wouldn't tell details. Photos won't allow any conclusion. Khon Kaen province is quite big. But I remember an initial report with many details (name of school and district town) about underage sex with students from a school that that is more than 80 km from KK city. It's 10 min drive from my place. One of the arrested was on bail(!) from the first arrest in February. -
Immigration Hacked?
KhunBENQ replied to NoDisplayName's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
And that opens correctly. https://nakhonratchasima-imm.go.th/index_e.php -
Aside from the facts mentioned (have a proper job and you can finance over many years, down to 15k/month or so like a huge majority of buyers): Assuming from the wording "her Toyota Revo pickup truck" that she owns it is also quite shortsighted. What else then "her" should the article say? "in a/some pickup"? And rich parents won't buy bulky trucks for their baby girl but a nice little BMW, Merc or similar. Super rich much better.

Kuwaiti Tourist Apologises for Obscene Act on Pattaya Balcony

From the headline I expected a completely different kind of "rubbing" 😁 I love "private(!) balconies". -
12 month bank statement
KhunBENQ replied to CallumWK's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For Bangkok Bank: you can get a 6 month statement on the spot/branch. Short wait. It looks completely different in layout from the one year statement (that I had to order and wait). And it's much better readable/clear than the 12 month statement. In October I will check with immigration whether it is OK for them to have 2 or 3 of these 6 month statements covering the 12 transfers. I will also try the 12 month via email and show them. I am relaxed about it because for this year I have an income statement from the consulate. But want to get rid of this need. -
12 month data SIMs - Looking for recommendations
KhunBENQ replied to Chillypom's topic in IT and Computers
Yep. Some people are lucky that this band 40 is in reach with proper signal strength. It's not simply "4G" but this specific band/frequency. A mate has this package against my advice. Now when he sits at a local cafe, want to call him on a messenger. "Can not, not good here". Recently he was at Pizza Hut at the local Lotus mall. Want to call him. "Can not, not good here" Story repeats again and again. -
Just came back with my Yaris (ICE) from the district town (18 km on a non congested highway). Measured 4.6 l/100 km (21.7 km/l). At higher speeds on motorway I needed about 5.5 l/100 km (18 km/l).
-
I have opted for the small standard Yaris. 100% ICE no battery/hybrid. Of course too small as a family car, rarely more than two. Quiet relaxing ride, low fuel consumption. Some nice gimmicks (keyless entry/start, cameras, blind spot warning), some of little use (start/stop, lane assistant). The Cross (a hybrid) is the current bestseller, not sure how long the queue is. Has a number of additional features like power tailgate and more. I never thought about driving the bulky truck modifications. Once sat in the back of a Fortuner "taxi" in Phuket. Hardly ever experienced such nausea in a car, lowered windows but could keep it to myself. A mate once picked me up from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya. At the time the M7 had some quite steep humpbacks at the canals. Mate was a crazy racer and flew over, when landing I almost hit my head. Not for spine patients

You were faster. Any cheap laser is better than thermal or money eating ink. Cheap refill lasts "forever". Color print is nothing wanted and even refused by some immigration offices.
