Driving Licence Renewal - Can I do it any DLT office?
KhunBENQ replied to hotandsticky's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I don't have a written proof but your idea is very unlikely, Millions of Thais work and live outside the province where their registered residence is. That would be too much to travel from Phuket to Chiang Mai just to renew DL. (previous post was faster ) Some proof of residence is required. What is accepted varies from office to office. Ours accept my "yellow book/pink card", others don't (like Pattaya/Chonburi). -
Anyone Else Finding AseanNow Almost Unusable Recently❓

There is a current controversial thread running on that. I agree with your complaint, -
35% sales tax is the number I find for a 3 liter. Not completely explaining the difference.

Is the car also manufactured in the US? List price in Germany is roughly 75000 EUR. About 82000 USD, 2.9 million THB. For the rest I only know that there is a significant sales tax that rises with the displacement. And a 3 liter engine is quite a thing here (compared to the US). 6 cylinder limousines like the Toyota Camry are 2.5 liter only.

Thai village bans road rice drying after tragic motorcycle accident
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Minor roads is the word here. Mostly within the villages or paths out to the fields. They block half of the path. A disturbance but not a big issue. It's a bit of a mystery how one can kill himself by riding into a pile of rice. Sleepy or careless. -

Go through this thread about a terrible road accident and see how these anonymous reactions have become a complete farce. Idiots or fat fingers? https://aseannow.com/topic/1312629-nine-killed-and-more-than-ten-others-injured-in-truck-accident-in-si-sa-ket/ -
How does Bali compare to Pattaya or Phuket

I have the news in mind of about 200 Australian and other tourists bombed to death by Muslim extremists. -
Just stumbled upon this pearl of journalism: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/nbtc-files-for-bankruptcy-of-cat-telecom-in-thai-baht-terms Without any comment/background. I assume(!) this is a formal step to dissolve CAT after the merger with ToT to NT? Can anyone comment?

Exactly. And this thread is a good example why. It was a big mistake to anonymize. Either named or abolish. -

Be aware that the thread is obviously about the "reactions" to posts. Smileys/emojis and emoticons are each to his own. -

Abolish all >reactions< except +1 and Thanks. For all others: Come out of the hiding and post about your confusion or disagree. Or remain silent for ever.- 25 replies

Indeed. It's not space technology. For 700 Baht you will get one at every major supermarket / homestore. No need for online shopping. Bought ours at Lotus. Of course you will also find some Haefele for almost 3000. The only interesting question is the source for a new 15 kg filled gas tank. Normally you exchange empty for filled and pay some 4xx Baht. Don't know what you pay (buy) first time (like a deposit?). Of course you should look around for a nearby local shop.

Little use? No heavy feature loaded use? Why look for cracked illegal stuff? I don't need more than LibreOffice. Free and open SW. https://www.libreoffice.org/

Google Pay and cardless ATM withdrawals?
KhunBENQ replied to agg211's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
From knowing the process of cardless withdrawal at Bangkok Bank I have no idea how this could work without a Bangkok Bank account and online banking. I like to be proven wrong -
WinX for example. And so far you don't need any premium to avoid the silly ad videos (even interrupting while watching). Just use the right browser (wonder how long it will take until yt can block that). Downloading is the best option as no ads and no trailing "suggestions". yt videos should have 15 sec of frozen content or the like. Otherwise useful content at the end might be hidden by the suggestions. I find this even more annoying than ads before start.

Pattaya Authorities Vow to Finish All Road Repairs by March 2024
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Seems they started cracking open from corner of WS to 2nd Rd. Optimal choice to create chaos and that before this much feared fireworks weekend. Should I plan next visit when construction is finished? Better not. Fear my life expectancy is too short. 🤣 -

The topic has been started before the long outage (about six days). After coming back it felt very slow yesterday. This morning it has much improved for me. Cross your fingers it will persist. -

Where did they find a jacket fitting the huge belly of the "expat commander in chief" -
Obviously not you. Can't count how often I visited a Pattaya Gogo incl Paradise. And no trouble in Paradise and elsewhere since 2004. If your not drunk as a skunk, check your bin and behave like a human, a Gogo it one of the safest places to be in Pattaya.
