Fan stopped working, can I buy a new capacitor
KhunBENQ replied to steven100's topic in The Electrical Forum
Worth a try with the capacitor. But usually capacitors fail slowly with the fan speed going down. If the fan has proper speed between the outages it might the archaic "radio buttons" (0 1 2 3). There are spare parts but more difficult to change. If you nudge the blades by hand, do they turn easy/freely? -
I don't dispute that but the poster is on his first Thailand holiday and the country has more to offer than a megacity. But who knows, tastes differ. Lived 40 years in a crowded city and got enough.

Will you come at this time of year? Important to know for advise on itinerary.

And Bangkok for two weeks for an elderly? (I am 67). I would die in this jaggernaut of noise, pollution, heat, crowds ... Walking with a stick in the burning heat? It's good for three nights (highlights of temples and palaces) or so and with adequate transportation. Terminal 21(s) bores me to hell. They are everywhere. Food, food, food, 2 hours and out. Of course there are malls worth seeing like Siam Paragon or the vulgar Central Embassy mall (porters wearing white gloves at the glass doors of the luxury brand shops, waiting room for the drivers of the high end cars in the garage). Haven't been to the latest superhype IconSiam. Best places to understand the extreme gap between rich and poor in the country. Please rethink! First holiday in Thailand and sitting in Bangkok for two weeks!!!

That's what I do. I never use it for some kind of "instant" transfer. For me it's important that it is labelled as foreign transfer in the book/statements. Initiated transfer today (Friday) and it will arrive Tuesday. ? Thought for a moment to realize that Monday is a public holiday.

Thailand Considers VAT on Imported Goods Under 1,500 Baht
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Got a package from the US (vitamins/supplements). Total cost incl shipment 76.88 USD. Thai customs opened it, valued it 2800 Baht. Duty 140 VAT 206 Fee 20 Paid 366 Baht. Total about 13%. Still magnitudes cheaper than paying the inflated prices here. -
I was bored out of my mind in Pattaya
KhunBENQ replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Some still prefer the described routine in their small condos over staying for winter in their home country. And if they can't afford a big comfy condo, what do you think would their life be "at home"? Like this? -
Shingrix (shingles vaccine) available in Thailand now
KhunBENQ replied to Polar Bear's topic in Health and Medicine
Yesterday I filled the webform of Ratchaphruek Khon Kaen with phone number of the daughter. They told her I should come today or tomorrow otherwise would have to wait until next supply of vaccine arrives. So today we went there to get 1. shot. Nice surprise that the 6300 Baht price is all inclusive (check in, short examination by doctor). Got it at 10:40 AM. All fine until now. Slight ache in the arm only when stretching up and when pressing on the injection spot. Next appointment on July 31st. Will likely be a little late (one or two weeks). -
You were faster, didn't see your post.

Lowlifes among themselves. Applies to idiot Brits and uninhibited thugs called "guards". In a civilized country they should go to jail. But here it is normal to take "justice" in their own hands due to corrupt lazy police.

ICQ messenger service to shut down after 28 years
KhunBENQ replied to george's topic in IT and Computers
Internet nostalgia. Do you remember AOL CDs and what to do with it Still remember my Compuserve ID. First internet connection to Thailand was Gopher to Khon Kaen university. I am so old... -
Nice wording for the worst/longest heat wave in decades. Our bill about 3 times higher than in "winter" (Dec, Jan). Worst in previous reading, 3800. This time 3030. Two story house, three people. Three ACs. You write a lot about watering (using a pump). No word about size of your home, ACs? How many? If you feel something is wrong: Main fuse off, watch meter. Does it stand still? Main fuse on, switch off everything that can be switched off, unplug fridge, TVs, electronic stuff of all kind. What does the meter say? Hidden device sucking energy in your house/garden? Compare reading on the bill with meter. Do your own intermittent readings.

What can I do with a 2 year license?
KhunBENQ replied to Coach11111's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Some pretty vague uninformed statements here. For sure: With a 2 year license you can not apply for a Thai IDP. With a 2 year license you must not cross border, drive in neighboring countries. As far as I know: With a 2 year license you can not rent a car. -
Even worse: endless stream of news since last year say that "Diesel" is B20 which is surely not recommended for all Diesel vehicles, B10 discontinued. And why is more expensive? Might be due to the fact that "bio" (palm oil for Diesel and ethanol for gasohol) are on short supply/became more expensive. There was a full blown "palm oil crisis" after Indonesia had forbidden exports (I remember rationing of palm oil in super markets!). Stick to B7!
-
In Europe it's THE standard Diesel by EU norm. From PTT: Diesel B7 at PTT complies with Euro 5 emission standards. And I am not aware that B0 (no bio) has ever been mass produced/sold in Thailand. You think that "Diesel" is B0? For a while there was a whole bunch of Diesel variants at PTT, B7, B10 and B20 plus the "super stuff". This has been cut back.
-
-
Today's PTT prices confuse me. There is no significant rise in B7 which is the standard Diesel fuel. What's behind "Diesel" without further spec? Would someone pay more for B10??

Man high on marijuana crashes car, cuddles pets & smiles at cops
KhunBENQ replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
To me it says: they have no rules/limits/methods to determine marijuana level? So lets test alcohol. -
Thai Woman Missing In Switzerland Found: Embassy
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Simply confusing and not really a conclusion. "Send 430 Baht"???? That girl seems to have problems maybe mentally.
