Visiting Laos with Thai ID card?
KhunBENQ replied to khomlong1's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
They can get a "border pass" before crossing Thai border. Every Thai near the border will know where the office is to get one. Cost 100? Baht. For sure: it allows to stay for three days/two nights only. Always disputed: the border pass restricts the areas (near border) where they are allowed to roam. I don't have a reference document for that but quite sure it's true. For free travel all over Laos they should have a passport. Own experience is quite long ago and we just moved to Vientiane from Nong Khai. One day trip. -
Maybe someone with KTB experience comes to the thread? What I can tell you: SCB is not capable to install facial scan for foreigners. But after a lenghty call to support at Bangkok (from the branch) I got a waiver (had to confirm somehow) and can now control limits without facial scan. That was about two months(?) ago. If the staff at your branch is too ignorant then your best chance would be a call to the central support. I tried to find up-to-date information here in the forum about KTB to no avail.

Yes for a typical holiday stay just take the necessary amount for personal use. For those who stay longtime in Thailand I suggest to order online. iHerb is a company much recommended as mentioned in this thread.

Cabinet Cuts Gasohol 91 Price by 2.50 Bt/Litre
KhunBENQ replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News Headlines
Creating a run on Gasoline 91? A fuel abolished in most of Europe since over a decade. If only I had words for that. Years ago they had the plan to abolish it here too, just makes extra cost in separate production/logistics at the refineries and pumps. Plan postponed, postponed, postponed... Until now the price difference to Gasohol 95 was marginal. Motorbike taxi riders will love it For most two wheelers and lawn movers it's sufficient. -
Ticket $ 5,00. Taxes $ 53,39. Total $ 58,39. No one complains....

Usual low cost airlines illusion to get on top of ticket search. And who believes in 5$ flights should have a legal guardian. -
Keeping sim cards alive frequent visitor
KhunBENQ replied to surreybloke's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Yep, 12 Baht for a month for AIS (10 Baht credit, 2 Baht fee) at the little orange machines. 12*12 = 144. 20 Baht for a month at AIS self service machines (20 Baht credit, no fee). At 7/11 counter there is no AIS topup possible since many years. Rival company thrown out, True featured from the tycoon empire. I think DTAC has an explicit extension fee? -
If you really want to know whether you have a vitamin deficit you can have it tested. As far as I remember quite costly though.

Give an example what you don't get here (disregarding the price).

If you want to experience go to TOPS and look at prices for most basic stuff like magnesium, calcium and the like. It's stunning. You could pay thousands per month if you rely on that. Recently ordered calcium/magnesium/zinc combined and lycopene from iherb. Never had any problems with shipping in reasonable amounts. Additionally a moderately dosed local multivitamin (Wiitop). Will not overdose on vitamin D. A dangerous trend currently. Have enough sun.

Foreign Tourist Attacked by Hostile Youngsters in Pattaya
KhunBENQ replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
No reason to condemn the whole country because some hooligans in an infamous area/Soi attack foreigners. There are certain spots in Pattaya where I wouldn't walk in the dark. Soi Yensabai is an absolute hotspot to avoid. Has it been clear that these hooligans are Thais? Asking because a lot of trouble in the past by bike racers of middle east origin in this area. -

Passport Validity Requirements
KhunBENQ replied to lazygourmet's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Bumping this older thread while searching for a friend about passport validity and extension of stay. From the official source that airlines use (TIMATIC) it is clear that there is NO 6 month validity rule for entering Thailand. At least for the example that I used: From Germany to Thailand, Lufthansa non stop, arrival 15 Dec, stay 29 days, vacation, have return ticket, German national with normal German passport valid until 15 January. Check on your own with your travel itinerary. There might be variations if having stop overs or other factors? https://www.copaair.com/en-cr/timatic/ Query: (click on images for full size, "birthday" is arbitrary) Result: Now cutting short the passport validity shorter than the 29 days intended stay: -
Single re entry permit help
KhunBENQ replied to Binger's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It's not too early. It's always valid until the end of your current extension. SO: first do your one year extension and after that apply for the re-entry permit (same visit). If your new extension ends in February 2024 the re-entry permit will be valid until then. -
This morning I fiddled on the mobile app and saw this "request" statement feature. I requested a statement starting from Nov 22. I got a single(!) PDF (page nr. for each month) protected with the usual birthday password. I expected a statement with more details than the meager one-liners in the bankbook. But it is quite the same like bankbook entries! (see example below). Question: if you order the one year statement at the branch (for visa extension e.g.), do you get a different form of statement with details for every transaction?

Another observation. When I open the post/edit field the font is appropriate. After saving it shrinks. Compare the two screenshots in the following post.
