Gunman robs Bangkok bank, nets Bt200,000

BANGKOK: -- Thanachart Bank’s Bang Khlo branch on Rama III Road in Bangkok was robbed on Wednesday morning by a lone gunman, who made off with Bt200,000 in cash.

Wat Phrayakrai police got the call at 9.17am.

 

They learned that the gunman, about 30 years old and wearing a black T-shirt and black trousers, had entered the bank carrying a bag and initially behaved like a customer.

 

He drew a gun on the teller and demanded cash. He left and was seen fleeing towards Rama IX Bridge. The whole incident took only about a minute.

 

Five employees and a cleaner were in the bank at the time.

Glad no one was hurt. Could have been an inside job if the guy was brazen enough to initially appear like any other customer.

Fyi, Bangkok Bank or bank in bangkok? There is a bank named "Bangkok Bank" and the title was a bit misleading.

Not much of a pay day for his efforts when you consider prison time. That is assuming the CCTV was working, which knowing Thailand is not a foregone conclusion.

Thanachart Bank

Only 200 K , tellers have stacks of 100k's in their drawers . It's a mystery why this doesn't happen more . Back home they're behind 5 cm of glass.
