Ex-attorney general appeal for fairness for prosecutors handling Boss’s case

BANGKOK: -- Former attorney-general Atthapol Yaisawang has appealed to critics to not blame public prosecutors for allegedly dragging their feet in taking legal action against Red Bull heir, resulting to three cases being dropped due to expiration of their statute of limitations.

 

He defended that the Red Bull Heir, Vorayudh Yoovidhya, had appealed for justice and, therefore, the public prosecutors had to consider his appeals to ensure justice.

 

He cited Boss’s appeal to the National Legislative Assembly’s panel for legal, judicial process and police affairs complaining of incomplete investigation by the public prosecutors, making it impossible for the prosecutors to ignore.

The job of prosecutors is not to ensure fairness to anybody. It is to do their jobs in line with rules and procedures on the statute books.

 

They have failed because they have been pressured by high flying lawyers to grant concessions to an uber wealthy client whose reasons for not meeting with prosecutors are as wishy washy / dubious as hell, and more to the point would never have been granted to a person with lesser access to legal help / funds.

 

Also it took 5 years and an embarrassing press exposé of the perpetrator's extravagance while on the lam to even get an arrest warrant requested.

 

All in all, any flak your precious prosecutor's office is taking is FULLY justified. Man up.and accept the rightful criticisms for your failures / unwillingness to do your jobs right

After 5 years of utter BS, the ex Attorney General rises and defends this fiasco.....

These are the types of people that are entrenched throughout the system, that keep Thailand a developing nation....!

since when does it take years to investigate a car crash where there is vdo and witnesses and damage to vehicle. This excuse is for the ignorant to pacify the complaints against them for dragging their feet. Anyone with any sense knows a accident doesn't take years to gather sufficient evidence to prosecute.

 Ah a god ol' laugh to start the week off. "Ensure justice.". Surely justice should be for the deceased and the deceased's family. Consider his appeals. I'm ok with that if and only if he appeared in court and not flee the country. Truly a two-tier justice system.

Accident, obstruction of justice (yes, they got the gardener/driver to admit it was him - funny how there was never a charge for that), drugs and alcohol in system (remember the lady that got 15 years for 6mg of cocaine), leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, reckless driving and of course the small matter of killing someone in the process.

 

I bet Boss feels like a right dick though, because Jenpop was caught on camera driving reckless, killed TWO people, was proven to be guilty then after the fact admitted guilt which got his sentence cut in half to 2 years. Oh...and now he's out on bail anyway.

Why does nobody in this country accept responsibility for wrong doing?  Boss appealed for justice whilst refusing to pop into the local police station citing flu' & other pathetic excuses.  Now the big boss of Thai (in)justice system speaks out on his behalf.  How do people like the  Attorney General get this job?

The statute of time limitations should not apply to ANY prosecution when the accused does not appear in court to defend themselves. That's the only way that justice can be seen to be fair to all.
